The rating I just gave was a rating intended for the staff. El nido coco resort is a quaint resort located around approximately 15 minutes away from the center by tricycle). We have been staying in hotels most of time when we travel hence decided to stay in a place with the concept of having a bungalow/villa for a change. Arrival was smooth. We were greeted with smiling faces and very accommodating staff. Our unit was nice looking, spacious. Since there were 13 of us in our group, I booked 2 villa, 1 bungalow and 1 family room. I like their sizes of their villa however, they need to improve more on some areas. Though we didn’t use their toiletries, they should provide more for their clients. What they are giving out are some items intended for a motel or 1-2 stars hotel accommodation (they have toothbrush but no toothpaste, no conditioner, etc). They also don’t have wash cloths. Instructions for safe is not to be found. Hence we have to call the staff to show us on how to do about it. Jacuzzi needs cleaning. It needs to have a good scrubbing before it can be filled with water. The pool was very inviting. However, the flooring around it should be safety for the clients. It is very slippery. Even if I have a lot to make a comment regarding the facility itself, I decided to refrain from doing it since the attitude of the staff compensated everything. Staff was awesome. They delivered above and beyond the call of duty. Always attentive, smiling and knows how to anticipate our needs. When we checked out, we got a text message on our way back to Puerto Princess. One of my nieces, left her phone in the villa. We suggested ot have it mailed instead. Surprisingly, they decided to deliver it to the next hotel where we have decided to stay. Hence, the phone was delivered exactly the same day it was found. Their staff drove 4-5 hours to puerto prices a from el nido just to be able to deliver the phone. Now, that’s what we call excellent service……
We stayed for 7 nights at Coco Resort in the hot month of April 2022, around 30 Celsius each day and night. General feeling: The resort has a nice tropical feeling around the villas/pool area and very thoughtful employees but it does not gather all the conditions for a carefree stay. The price is on the high side for the kind of experience we have. Our suggestions to the hotel management: - Provide, upon arrival, a one page summary with all the necessary information about how the hotel works, El Nido, must-dos, restaurant recommendations, etc - Increase number of choices on the bar (natural fruit juices is a must in our opinion) - Have food choices/snacks throughout the day inside the hotel premises (not only breakfast and dinner) - Improve the bungalows quality (cheap materials and the feeling is not good. I would not have stayed there for 7 nights) - Improve breakfast quality - Organization and staff managing multiple items in parallel can improve, multiple times they forgot things we asked Pros: - Very friendly and thoughtful staff - There was an issue with our booking (the staff missed our email confirmation) and so they cancelled our booking after payment was done. After complaining they upgraded our stay to the villas. - Really good villas with tropical feeling, well maintained garden - good sized pool, never crowded - beach bar…
Stayed there for 5 day never changed the sheets towels or cleaned the room. Staff was miserable and unhelpful. Saying you have no housekeeping but continue to take bookings and money seems unethical. Shame because the place and owners are nice maybe the need to spend more time there
We booked a bungalow for a week at this hotel, the phone contact with the reservation staff was more than informative, they took care of all the procedures relating to the El Nido tracking system for us. We are from Manila and the trip was finally very easy. The bungalow is a bit far from the pool, but very close to the sea, which is perfect for sunsets. The breakfasts are generous. El Nido still lacks a variety of activities, but it's coming soon. Overall a really nice stay.
The villas are beautiful, well thought out, I loved the large bathroom. The garden is very furnished and leaves good privacy with the other villas. Very quiet, roosters in the distance at the day, but hey, like everywhere in Palawan. Close to everything without being in town. An exceptional internet. The pool is beautiful, without extravagance. Not to mention the very nice staff. The vacation I dreamed of for Christmas after this horrible year. I would definitely go back soon.
After receiving our negative swab results and great communication from Coco Resort we were very excited for our journey to and within El Nido. We were not excited to find out that you could only order food to be delivered to your resort and that your usual freedoms as humans was diminished upon arrival. The only thing our negative test results did for us was alienate us at the resort we had paid to stay at. According to ‘policy’ our rooms could not be made up because we were from Manila. We therefore used the broom to sweep and changed our own sheets and cleaned our bathroom. Now we are not fussy people but really??? We had to ask for toilet paper regularly, clean towels often and clean sheets for our VERY small family room with an AC that sounded like Niagara Falls and hosted enough sand flies to start a breeding program. I left with no fewer than 75 sand fly bites on my body - and it was not from the beach!!! The sand flies weren’t the only thing biting either. You’ve never seen mosquitoes like these. I’ve seen smaller light aircraft !!! As for the facilities. Do I begin with the pool toilet which was not cleaned the first week we stayed and where I had to ask for toilet paper 3 times in about 5 days and which the key was lost and could not be unlocked again and then the bat poo covered entrance to the alternate bathroom... or the swimming pool which was only cleaned 8 days into our stay with green moss/ mould all over. Whilst Jim, Lynette and the breakfast and front desk teaM were delightful and helpful in all ways, in no way were we made to feel welcome by the Manager who saw us daily but did not do anything to help us want to recommend this place. If barking dogs (the owners) in the middle of the night, roosters crowing all day, mossy swimming pools as bug bitten holidays are your thing...then go for it!!!…
My wife and I stayed here from March 2-5 2020. We had a great time staying at this resort and whenever we do go back to this area, we will definitely stay at this resort again. Cost: We booked through either Expedia or Priceline (I don't recall) and paid $295.27 for 3 nights total (this includes the fees, taxes, cancellation insurance, etc...). Very much worth every penny. Check in: It was nice and easy. Jimmy checked us in and gave us a rundown of the place. I was so excited about going on this trip that when I booked the rooms, I didn't know that we had free breakfast everyday and it also came with a free 30 minute massage each for my wife and I. Another surprise was the welcome drink (non-alcoholic), tasted great (more on this later). The resort: The resort was nice, clean, and very very relaxing. You really felt one with nature. The pool was always clean (we used it almost every day/night except for check-out day). While it can be dark at night, never felt unsafe and there was enough lighting on the walkways. The giftshop was nice (though on the pricey side). As we were laying by the pool, we saw the area where they do facials and mani/pedis which looked really cool. The room: The room was clean. Very clean and that's really all I care about since we intended to explore and not spend much time at the resort. Had a TV, a nice, clean bathroom, nice firm bed, AC, and a fan. We also had a little patio area that had a couple of chairs and a table where wifey and I would hang out. Note that we got the bungalow and not the villas. I have no complaints. I was pleasantly surprised that when we got in from one of our trips, the patio light was turned on for us (would have been very dark) AND they put "katol" for us (katol is like an incense that keeps mosquitos away). I did get a scare, when as my wife and I were walking into our room, I heard a "good evening sir"...turns out there was a security guard close to our room (I think he's making sure no non-guests just walk-in straight from the beach). The food: Free breakfast was very generous. You have a choice of 3 or 4 (if i remember correctly) international options and about 3 or 4 local options for breakfast. They give you a good amount of food (actually too much), a fruit platter and your choice of juices or coffee. The food was pretty good. I would give their breakfast food a B, while their lunch/dinner food, I would give an A. Remember that welcome drink I wrote about earlier? That became wifey's drink throughout our stay. She would order the welcome drink and have them put in a shot of vodka (ok, she sometimes asked for double shot, but we were on vacation!!). I ordered fries every day as my go-to munchies food while swimming and having a drink. They made it extra well done/crispy as requested. Free Massage: Unfortunately, I cannot give a good review on this. I fell asleep about 5 minutes into it. I asked my wife how her massage was, and she also fell asleep. So...I'm guessing this is a good thing? Staff: I don't know how many stars this resort is, but the staff deserves a perfect rating. Every time I saw someone, I was greeted with a hello/good morning/evening and a smiling face. Everyone was very accommodating and were sincerely nice about it. From the morning/breakfast crew to the evening/dinner crew, they all did a great job. Also, shout-out to the acoustic guitar player/singer that performs at night. He is awesome!!! Another shout-out the the fella that had to come to my room 3 times because I kept messing up on how to use the safe. My wife now wants to go to the Philippines every other year. Our next trip, we will visit Boracay (she's never been there), but the following one, she wants to go back to El Nido and if we do, we'll be staying here again.…
This hotel has the most horrible service possible. While trying to contact them regarding the COVID 19 issue, they repeatedly hung the phone up on us, or tried to bounce us around shamelessly. Shameful.
Stayed in one of the beach bungalows which were the cheapest option (£70ish a night). 10 metres from corong corong beach with lots of great bars. Staff were excellent, especially Jim (prefers Jimmy). Helped arrange transport and tours so great all round. Only slight criticism would be there was no fridge in the room. Even a tiny one just to keep a couple of bottles of water in would have been great. Air con worked well in the rooms.
We stayed in the new developed area - not the suites (which are definitely better). Cleanliness is perfect, Food is above perfect (Breakfast and Dinner), Price is correct. The staff is helpful and very nice so is the owner. Little tip - book the private tours directly with the hotel as these are the best to discover the wonders of El Nido.
