Stayed here for just two days and I felt at home from check in until I left. At the time I checked in I was the only guest, but I think that is not why I was pampered by Pinky and Russell :) They are both so friendly and kind. Room came with fresh towels, shampoo and soap. Bed was comfortable and the water pressure of the shower was a blast! For those who cannot sleep when the sun shines in the room, just bring eye cover. Russell brought me to the tip of the mountain overlooking the long beach. She gave me a private mini tour and was so kind to let me drive her scooter. We had dinner in a nearby restaurant. Pinky was so accommodating and helpful with all her connections and knowledge in the area. My breakfast was superb with local honey that tasted so great! Only authentic local honey is served here :) Try the rum and coke at the bar, it gives quite a quick because of the local rum. I wish I could have stayed longer.

I hate leaving a negative review (check my previous reviews to see) but the service at this place is beyond terrible. We found this place on Trip Advisor and thought we’d reserve a bed for two nights through the Facebook page after being told that many travel apps take a lot of the money from the hotel/hostel and guests pay more so nobody really wins. The replying was so slow on Facebook and we wanted to make sure we had a room for the night so we decided to book through through trip.com which advertises the hotel. We arrived at 7.30, tried to order some food there was 2 options squid or pork with rice. The pork was fatty and burnt, the rice was cold. Shown to an 8 room with half the beds not made up and just a grubby mattress on them it wasn’t the greatest but we decided not to make a fuss. Originally we asked to have breakfast around 7 so we could spend the day exploring but apparently this is too early? We told them the night before what we would order so they could prepare and arranged to eat the omelette and pancakes, We got up early and walked to the beach through the mangrove and came back around 9 to find breakfast was ready but it was stone cold!!! The morning got worse when we were told to leave to resort having already paid for two nights in advance because for some reason the resort does not accept bookings from Trip.com. Only half an hour before this we had to move room to accommodate other guests coming which made it even more annoying. We were told by a complete stranger who wasn’t there the previous day because apparently Pinky the manager was ‘ill’. WHY ARE YOU ON THE APP IF YOU DON’T ACCEPT BOOKINGS FROM IT???? Complete waste of time trying to explain to the two people at the resort that it’s not our fault you signed up to an app- they asked us to try and take the hotel off the app. It’s not our problem you signed up for it? We were then told by them that they didn’t care about our money and we had to get a refund from trip despite showing them that on the app it clearly says the resort’s bookings are unrefundable. We finally managed to get a refund for the one evening we wouldn’t spend there but only after the bill for the awful food was removed from it. The whole thing was an awful experience, words cannot express how awful the service was. Dingy dark rooms with a cling film type window which isn’t very safe, the shower trickles out and instead of being able to enjoy the view you are surrounded by washing- why don’t you move the line behind the huts so people can enjoy the view of the mangrove!? Would advise anyone looking at places to avoid here and go elsewhere in San Vincente or straight to El Nido. Having looked at your responses to your last negative reviews I’m sure you will claim we broke something or were unreasonable, this simply is not the case, we were very accommodating given the awful food and room changes. The only mistake we made was to book with you who treat guests so poorly.

When we first arrived we were taken aback by the "road" to the resort from the main road which is less that a cattle track. Rooms are well cleaned but utilities are so and so, water pressure in the shower is low to absent from time to time. Going to the beach involves traversing a scary makeshift bridge over the mangrove swamp, not to be recommended if you are on the heavy side. At first we thought this was perhaps not value for money. But after 1 day we totally FELL IN LOVE with this place! This was a fantastic exotic experience we will remember! You are basically living in the middle of nature, jungle and mangrove. At night you can hear the sounds of the jungle. Its complete tranquility, pure medicine for the soul. And the owner and staff are so friendly and helpful!

Biased by the hype of Port Barton I accidentally booked this place in San Vicente instead. What a luck! Villa Encantador is the perfect getaway from all the stress on this world. There are only three bungalows (very nice equipped and clean). It is located close to a beautiful beach with a real forest of coconut trees on the one side and a lagoon and a river on the other side. To get to the beach there is a wooden boardwalk through mangroves - if you are lucky you can see birdlife like kingfishers and many others. There is a canoe with that you can explore the mangroves and the close by river (free of charge). There is also a bar where you can get breakfast and yummy dishes (I can recommend the Sisig) whenever you are hungry and of course cold drinks. The couple who are looking after you are just awesome with a big big heart and you can learn here what hospitality means in Philippines. And if you feel like karaoke, even this is possible here. I stayed in this paradise for 4 days and it was one of the best experiences I had in the Philippines so far. I came as foreigner and left as friend. I truely want to come back.
