Junior Suite: Beautiful, spacious room with king bed, balcony, and a huge bath tub for soaking after a snorkel over the reef. Room has small ref, couch, and plenty of room to spread out. Meals are right on the beach, served by a capable staff. Breakfast is eggs with fresh baked bread and fruit. (Other options are available for purchase from menu.) Lunch and dinner options. I liked the chicken Caesar salad. Pool is quiet and clean. Beach is quiet and easy to slip into for a swim. Hotel staff are happy and observant. If you sit in the shade with a book, someone will immediately bring you chilled water. Plenty of spaces to relax on this property. Also, 2 minutes from White Beach shopping and board walk.
I was looking for somewhere picturesque to relax after a busy week in Manila and Sunset Resort was the place for me. From assisting me to arrange my road trip and ferry to the island, to ensuring I had all the correct passes to get to the island; plus a warm welcome on arrival it got off to an excellent start. My 2 night stay was wonderful. The room was clean and very comfortable; the dining and lounging area in front of the sea was clean and well attended. Staff were attentive to my every need, sometimes even before I knew i had one! e.g bringing a cushion for my head as I lolled in a hammock or refreshing my drinking water to ensure it was cold. The food was freshly cooked , healthy and tasty. Jackie, Lara and Lez run a tight ship, staff seem happy and I felt well cared for through out my stay. I would definitely return…
A place where you do not have any care, and the manager is completely not responsible for anything. If you want to be cheated or robbed + the owner has nothing to complain about, this is the place for you. I travel all over the world and have spent holidays in hundreds of places but here greatest disappointment. Overall location quite good , food ok- but extremely expensive.
We had a really great time at this resort! Service was beyond expectation! The staff were always one step ahead of us. They were trained very well and were very humble and accommodating to customers. The food was amazing! I recommend to try their specials which are not in the menu. The place is PARADISE! They also made booking a breeze!!! They fixed everything for us. I felt shy cause I kept on calling about inquiries but they were always very accommodating and humble. Very quick to respond also and assured me I was not bothering them too much. The downside is, on our first night - we were basically the only ones at the resort- after an amazing night, we realized that our friend’s backpack was stolen. THE WHOLE BACKPACK. No one else was there and no one else was allowed to enter the resort but guests. We reported to the staff and they were quick to accommodate us. Felt sad we had to wake everyone up. After some discussion we realized that no one else could have done it but staff. I regret having to “blame” them but there were no other suspects. We also didn’t lock the room, maybe that was our fault, sort of inviting temptation - but this resort had a good reputation for trust-worthy staff, I guess guests should not be too trusting. The bag had important documents and work-related items that was worth more than the money inside the wallet. After hours of searching we decided to just let it go. Talked to the manager and asked her to gather the staff and talked to them to return everything else inside the bag. They can take the money worth 47k pesos :( It would’ve been a disaster if all these items were reported missing to their company. True enough, the bag miraculously “appeared” under some car the next morning. Police arrived, made some report, but honestly there was no proper investigation, neither were we updated about the status. The CCTV was unfortunately “not working”. We bumped into some other guests who just arrived and saw them just leaving their stuff unattended. We decided to tell them about our experience, to sort of give them warning since we saw them just leaving their stuff around. This person was still lurking around! Probably looking for the next potential victim. However, the owner found out about this and asked us if we could transfer to another resort, instead of fixing the issue. In my opinion, other guests needed to know what happened, for their own safety. The owner let us stay and we continued to have a great time. But it’s so unprofessional and so offensive for an owner to do that to guests that their staff have inconvenienced. Our trip was beyond expectation, really, except for that small blip. We saw police roaming around till the end of our stay, but I overheard someone saying in tagalog “good thing he saw that you called someone”. The police presence felt more like for show. It’s disappointing that there was no form of investigation. All seemed so fake and the owner didn’t seem to genuinely care at all. Upon checkout, we expected at least some form of discount or small compensation for the trouble THEIR STAFF caused, but the owner said she felt “offended” that we told the other guests about the incident. My friend’s cards were blocked. The owner said “your friend can pay”. We didn’t want to make the issue bigger so we just paid. They said they were going to “contact him” if they find the money, but they didnt even get his contact details. Neither did the police. 😹😹😹 So, the culprit is still there lurking around, looking for his/her next potential victim - and management doesn’t give a damn at all. No follow through. No investigation. No care. No consequences for the crime and inconvenience. Sad also that Puerto Galera Police didnt do their job. Either way, despite this unfortunate event, our experience was AMAZING. Wish it ended better. Really hoping for the money to be returned. But not keeping our hopes up given the management’s response. Whoever took the money, we hope you were able to feed your families. We hope you used it for the right purpose. If you’re planning to stay at this resort, just be sure you’re vigilant and you keep your belongings close to you. They’ve lost their “trustworthy” staff reputation.…
I strongly do not reccomend this place. On the first night we were robbed while eating dinner just a few meters far away from the room. Interestingly, that time only Staff of the Restort was around. CCTV/monitoring is not working. Absolutely unsafe place. If You want to spend nice time and feel safety, check around other resorts with similiar standards and the most important working monitoring and safety measures. The attitude of the owner also leaves much much place to be improve...
We spent 6 nights at Sunset and, from our arrival, had a great time our entire stay. The room was large, clean, and comfortable, the pool and the beach are great. The restaurant has a large and varied menu of local and western foods and it was all good. But the icing on the cake was the staff. They will all do whatever they can to make your stay better. Excursions? Diving? A night out? Another towel? Another drink? Some fresh water? They are on it and always perform. On top of all that, they are super family friendly. Our 1.5 year old had an awesome time. We will definitely go back.
Great hotel, nice amenities and restaurant offers delicious food, hospitality is excellent. The only issue at the time I stayed was the pool was dirty but everything else was perfect. It is out of the way though, so you will need to get a trike to get to white beach and restaurants around.
This place has very crazy EXORBITANT pricing! as if it's a five star top resort, but it's very very far from it.. The beach is small with concrete platform.. not even white sands.. The building is mostly exposed concrete and rough cement floors & pebble washouts, not even designed properly. The food is all ala carte for individual servings, which are super high priced for the quality & level of service. The rooms (again priced like 5-star hotel) but pale in comparison.. no electronic keycards, just single key for 1 room! no extra toiletries, no slippers, tv cable is grainy.. no phones, I could go on & on, but it won't be enough to describe how disappointed & frustrated we are with this resort.. We have stayed in several top five star hotels & resorts with great pools & views, with the same pricing, or even less costlier but even with top notch buffet international breakfast included! We will definitely NOT go back to this place! I'm sure there are other better resorts in Puerto Galera which are worth your money! …
The name of the resort is aptly chosen as the location right by the sea is stellar and the sunsets are magnificent. The sound of crashing waves is all you hear, no traffic so a perfect location for a relaxed getaway if there weren’t noisy construction work going on. I assume that the construction work was due to damage incurred during the recent typhoon, however, it would have been nice if management addressed this in some way shape or form towards guests. The rooms are simple but lovely, the private balcony overlooking the sea is a definite asset. However, the rooms are not up to a four star standard, especially the bathroom, which is out-dated and in desperate need of upgrading. You cannot take a shower without holding the shower head and the wear and tear in the bathroom in general gives off a less than clean and luxurious feel. Both bedding and towels are also in need of an upgrade, there were tears and holes in both and the beach towels were sparsely available, old and small. While the environmental policy is much appreciated, the staff doesn’t actually implement it. Bedsheets and towels were replaced every day. The food is rather hit and miss and the breakfast included in the room rate is definitely sub-standard. The staff is great with kids but rather inattentive to the rest of the guests. Finally, please be aware that depending on your credit card either a 5 or a 7% surcharge is levied on your payment which isn’t specified during booking. I definitely enjoyed my stay but also see room for improvement to make for a more balanced value for money experience. …
We spent 3D2N at sunset. Check-in was swift and the receptionist is very friendly. The room is very clean, large, and comfortable. The atmosphere or this place is tranquil, we must’ve came at a low peak season as there weren’t very many guests, which is a plus for us. We enjoyed the peace and quiet. This beachfront resort is just lovely. The pool is a bit on the small side but it wasn’t an issue for us. The property is well managed, and clean. Our favourite part of this resort is the service. The staff are all amazing people and will go above and beyond to cater to guests. They’re so friendly, which made us feel so welcome. We had plans to check out the neighbouring restaurants during our stay, but we ended up eating every meal at the restaurant in the resort! Their menu was quite the variety to satisfy just about all your cravings. Food is pretty decent. The servers are just wonderful, and though menu prices are a tad bit on the high side, it was worth it, you’re paying for excellent service and the convenience of it being right by the ocean. We loved sunset at aninuan and would recommend it! …
