As soon as I step my feet at this resort, my jaw dropped at the beautiful and clean background(scenery) of Taramaw Beach Resort. It's been a while since our family outing, as we spend our trip here, I am very satisfied because I can happily watched the loud laugh of my whole family enjoying every second at this resort. The resort has a deep pool where you can enjoy your swimming day and night. The beach front is very clean where you can stay long and enjoy the big waves. You can also enjoy swimming at the sea, safely. The hotel has many room options. We stayed at the apartment room with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a living room and a kitchen set. The lobby of this hotel has an amazing ambience which gave an aesthetic look when taking photos. The hotel also has a cafe where you can choose different food at their menu. If would given a chance to come back here, I would love to. I highly recommend this hotel at Puerto Galera. You will enjoy your trip here at a very low price.

Ok, I have mixed feelings about this place. It is like a 50-50 feeling of the Good and Bad. half the property is good, the other bad. Little maintenance or bringing the property up to date as time goes on. It is getting a bit run down. I see the management does not put the money into maintaining a high quality (4500 pesos per night) into their place... though they have new units under construction, and from seeing the pace of the 3 guys building it, it might take 10 years to finish...Front desk girl has a big tude!, as did the dude running the overpriced on premise restaurant. You can get to white beach by either climbing a hill of dangerous rocks, or walk up the busy road not to get hit by cars, trucks or trikes. Or take an over priced trike at 100 pesos to white beach, which is only a 1/4 kilometer away. So best to walk there! you go up hill slightly on the way there and use the long steps going down to white beach. Take a trike back. On white beach is a lot of restaurants, because this hotel was way over priced, average 300 pesos or up for a meal that was not that good. The first room we had the lock was broke so we had to move. The new room was Ant infested, and bathroom only had hot water a few hours a day. Morning no hot water! The toilets there absolutely are useless. If your dropping a deuce, beware! low pressure. beds were uncomfortable and the light through my window at night was like it was constantly 2 in the afternoon. The hall lights shine in near the steps making it impossible to sleep comfortably. the pool was very nice as was the beach. too bad there was not a decent hotel on that island. Mindoro is beautiful. Other than that , I do not know if I will go back, though there are not that many choices in Mindoro. They gouge you in that small town. I will return to Mindoro

I stayed a Tamaraw from March 11-13th. They did not have any wi-fi except in front desk area.
The worst customer service..
I rented a scooter March 12-13th at the resort and had to show my drivers licence. It turns out the scooter person still had my drivers licence. I turned the scooter in at about 10 AM and did not leave Puerto Galera until 3 PM and when I was on the boat going back to Batangas I got a text Tamaraw had my licence.
I tried to text, call, email them now for a month and NO...NO ANSWER AT ALL. NONE.
I booked through Agoda and they are JUST AS BAD. You CAN NOT contact them either.
As it is now I have NO replies from Tamaraw or Agoda. This is my drivers licence ...they do not care.
The breakfast is terrible with very limited choice...maybe 6 choices.

Every Travel needs to have a plan.
Some things to consider are Location and
Budget. On this adventure, the target place was
not a problem because we were sure that our
destination is Puerto Galera but the
question is, where in Puerto Galera? After
days of reading blogs, browsing for the top
resorts, considering good critics and
comments from people who already went to PG, we decided to choose Tamaraw Beach Resort.
Tamaraw Beach resort:
located in the coastal village of Aninuan, 20 minutes drive from Muelle and 10 minutes
walk from white beach. We booked a 3d/2n
stay for 5 persons for only P6,800.
Prebooking was around P600 that will be deducted from the total bill.
My personal budget for this trip is P5000 but I only spent around P4000

DAY 1 March 30 2012
*We left cubao at 7:00 AM and rode in ALPS
bus line which have a free wifi that was not
working but the bus itself was good. Its
clean, spacious and cozy. Bus fare from
cubao-batangas pier is P175. Travel time was
2 and half hours.
*We arrived at Batangas pier at around 9:30
AM. You do not need to worry where to go or
find the ticketing booth because you will
hear people that will welcome you shouting
puerto or white beach. As per advised of
people from tamaraw beach, we should ride the
boat that stop on Muelle instead of white
beach sothat the driver from tamaraw can easily
pick us up. Boat fee is P220 plus terminal
fee P30 and Environmental fee P50 for a
total of P300. We left batangas at around
10:30 AM. Travel time was around 1:15 hours.
*We arrived at Muelle around 12:00 noon and
we were fetched by driver from Tamaraw. Port
transfer is free of charge. After 20 minutes
of travel, we finally arrived at Tamaraw
beach. My first impression was WOW! the lobby
really amazed me. The receptionist
openned the room for us even if the check in
time was 2:00 P.M. Staffs are very friendly
and accomodating. The room space is fair
enough with 2 beds, which are good for 4 persons, and additonal 2 pull out beds. The bathroom is nice and well equipped. It was an airconditioned room with
refrigerator and Television. A very reasonable room for such amount.
*We took our lunch at Al Fresco, Tamaraw's
very own restaurant. I ordered a Tapsilog
for P120 and Mango juice for P80. Lunch was
free from Duanne's birthday treat. Food is good
but you need to order in advance because it
will take a short while before it will be served.
*The weather was perfect on that day. We were
very thankful that it did not rain during
our stay. We spent our first day by
exploring the beach and the resort
facilities. We also walked from tamaraw to
white beach along the coastline which is not
advisible because the boundary of this 2
beaches are distant and have slippery stones. The
beach of White beach is quite better than
tamaraw because of fewer stones. Talking about the hotel, amenities, staff services, tranquility, Tamaraw is way far better than White Beach. We walkd at the street
road when we headed back to Tamaraw. We played
Table tennis on their mini sport room. You
can also play chest and billiard. Wifi is
also available at the lobby.

*At night we stayed at the terrace in front of
our room, enjoying the relaxing feeling from the sea breeze and sea
waves. The place is quiet and very relaxing.

DAY 2 March 31 2012
*At the sound of the waves and shining sun,
I woke up at around 8:00 AM. We needed to be
early this time because our 2nd day will be
the day for activities. We started our day
playing beach volleyball. At around 10 AM
we joined the group of people who will be on
the island hopping with snorkeling and coral
viewing. Fee for this is P350. A very worthy
2-3 hours trip. We rode the shuttle going to
sandbar and from the sandbar we rode a mini
boat. This is the best part of puerto galera
adventure. Water is so clear. Islands are
very green. Sands are white. A
Paradise, indeed.
*We took our lunch at the white beach. Food
price is cheaper than
tamaraw’s. I ordered Grilled liempo for P100
and Mango juice for P40. This is also the
best place for souvenir shopping. I bought 3
Tshirts for P300. 10 bracelets for P100.
Coin purse for 20 and cellphone bag for P35.
*We were quite sad that we were not able to
ride a banana boat because it requires
10 persons. We need to
look for another 5 people which unfortunately, did not
happen. So, we just decided to enjoy
swimming and rented a kayak. It is for P100
each for 1 hour. P.S please be careful while
kayaking. Unfortunately, we were not able to
control the kayak so what happened was we
were brought to a place which is far from
the coastline. Good thing there was a taxi boat
that helped us to go back to the resort.
*Dinner time and I ordered Tamaraw rice for
P120. It was a heavymeal like chowking's
chowfan.

*Karaoke room is also available for only
P500 for 2 hours and additional P100 for
succeeding hours. An airconditioned room that
is good for barkada with flatscreen
Television and comfortable chairs. Brandy is
also available on their mini store.

DAY 3 April 1 2012.
* We woke up around 8:00 AM to pack our
things up going back to manila. We ate our
breakfast at around 10:00 AM. I ordered
Daing na bangus for P120. We checked out at
12:00 noon. Luckily, we catched the boat that
will leave at 12:30 pm. Fee was P220 and P10
for terminal fee. We reached Batangas pier
at past 1:30 PM and manila by 4:00 PM. Bus
fare is still the same.

In a way it’s difficult to rate Tamaraw Beach Resort for many reasons. The booking process was not easy as we went direct to the hotel to find out their website was down. We tried to contact them thru email, but it took several days to get a response. By then, we had contacted them thru their facebook page. Follow up messages were slow in terms of their responses. We tried to call as well and several times the numbers we called were not answered. When we were finally able to talk to them on the phone, they (Andrea) were informative and patient, as well as polite. We finally booked our room with them and headed to Puerto Galera.

We were supposed to be met at the boat pier on arrival. We did not see anyone at first from the hotel and had to search a bit then found the driver. I was surprised that the driver did not ask to assist us at all with our limited bags and just walked ahead of us to follow him. He was not friendly at all, not a first good impression. On the way to the hotel, we sat in the back of a multicab style truck. He drove fast, crossing lanes and passing other vehicles and beeping to his friends as he passed. This is dangerous as the road is curvy with blind spots. Also, as he flew back to the hotel we were sliding all over the place in the back. When we got to the hotel, again there was no offer of assistance to take us into the hotel or carry our bags.

The hotel lobby is nice as others have noted. The receptionist was quiet, no greeting, no welcome to the hotel. We were showed to our room, but again, no one offered to help us carry our bags or assist us. We had to follow a staff person who walked in front of us. It became obvious to us right from the beginning when meeting the driver and others that this hotel lacks customer service, was not a friendly place and it was a turn off at first. The building we stayed at has 4 floors so be prepared to carry all of your items up four floors. This can be a bit much for anyone with any ambulatory issues or with kids.

The superior rooms on the 4th floor have no internet access or wifi connection, nor does the rooms on the other floors. The room was missing a back window pane. The rooms and the hotel need touch up in many places with wall paint etc WiFi is available in the restaurant area only. Rooms are cleaned daily and cleaning, basic as it is, is sufficient. We had to remind them to leave soap. Cleaning staff will not greet you at all either; actually, no one at the hotel ever greets any guest at all. Even in the restaurant, no pleasantries, no niceties, no good days, no eye contact, just an apathetic attitude. This can be a big turn off and is unusual from our experiences in the Philippines. This shows a lack of training of staff by management or a hiring of relatives who do not think they need to be pleasant to the guests. If you go out at night, please be aware that the door to the lobby will be locked if you leave your key there. We did not know that and could not find the guard to search out our key for about 20 minutes. My advice, bring your key with you at night. This also makes me wonder how is hotel security at night as the grounds are big enough that at least two guards or more are needed to rotate to make sure no problems, but they do not have that.

Breakfast was included in our rate which was a simple buffet every morning. The food was fine for breakfast, nothing special, but did the trick. The restaurant is also okay to eat at, again nothing special but a good standby by if you do not want to travel to nearby white beach which has a wide array of places to eat and drink. Hygiene is a concern, a staff person in the restaurant was sweeping, and wearing a T-shirt then got our food. I have to wonder, was there a hand wash in between, which I doubt. Also, dirty glasses and clean glasses are in the same tray bin next to each other beside the free water cooler. Its very easy for someone, especially a child, to grab a dirty glass next to the clean ones.

The beach at the hotel is a bit rocky, but no more than any beach on Puerto Galera. Views are very nice and you can enjoy them from outside of your room at the table and chairs they have for each room. The beach is quiet with just a few vendors bugging you. It’s very clean with beach chairs to sit on. There is a nice infinity pool as well and this really adds to the tropical ambiance of the hotel. The pool has a kiddies pool section. The pool deck does need to be cleaned though.

White beach, as noted, is not far away but will cost you about P80 to get there by tricycle Please note, the tricycle drivers out front are overcharging by about 100%. Avoid them for tours around the island etc.

Even though this hotel has poor customer service with an apathetic attitude or even unfriendly staff, except for the front desk who became helpful in other discussions, the other attributes of the place allow for a nice stay. The place grows on you and the environment makes for a nice stay overall as its easy to look past the things that may bother you. I do think they need to warn the driver to slow down and helping guests with luggage is a good thing. And, we realized that we prefer to stay at this place after walking down to Sunset at Aninuan Beach Resort and running into the most arrogant staff we have ever met as we were told we can’t enter their place to look at the rooms etc. They made us realize that we were lucky to be at Tamaraw Beach Resort.

We rank this place higher due to the beach, pool and views. Also, drinking water is free, which is a nice touch. If not for these things this hotel would get easily ranked below average if they were dependent on customer service for a good ranking by guests. We will go back again is the best thing I can say on how we feel overall.

I had a lovely stay at Tamaraw Beach Resort, located in quiet, idyllic Aninuan Beach in Mindoro. Its nipa huts line the beach, and the friendly staff at its restaurant serve tasty, inexpensive Filipino dishes. I highly recommend their Tamaraw Fried Rice: rice, pork, tomatoes and onion with a fried egg laid over the top. Also, their mango shakes are amazing!

Aninuan is a quiet beach, but it's merely a short stroll over to White Beach for some nightlife.

Cottages start at Php 600 a night to Php 4,000 a night in high season for an air-conditioned apartment with a kitchen and veranda.

I've been living in Manila for about a year. I had heard about Puerto Galera from my Filipino friends and wanted to book something spur of the moment when visitors from the States arrived. There are not many places like this in the US. Clean, comfortable and well maintained, yet without the pretensiouness, glitz and frenetic pace of "resorts" on the beach that I have seen again and again. So if you are into parasailing and ski-dos this is NOT the place for you. (Although we did book a very nice mornings snokeling from the beach.) One of the nicest little stretches of beach I've seen anywhere in the world. The Nipis are great for sitting in the shade and reading trash fiction. The food at the resturant was siimple, wholesome and well-prepared. We had a cabana about 20 yards from the beach and listened to the gentle surf and changing tide all night. :-) The only criticism I had was the absence of hot water in the cabana, although it did have good air conditioning. (To tell the truth, I really didn't miss it that much, and I'm pretty spoiled!!!). If you find the trade-off of beach sand for hot water unacceptable, Tamaraw also has a brand new wing of standard hotel rooms at very reasonable rates. One of the great things about this spot is that it is around a headland from White Beach ( a Puerto Galera hot spot) and was without the noisy bar scene. Yet, it only took a few moments to summon a tricycle to take us into "town" for some variety.

All in all, the P1500 a night (about 30 USD) was some of the best "down" time money I've ever spent. If my circumstances had permitted it, I'd have stayed a month!!! My friends and I conjectured that this spot is probably alot like Cabo San Lucas was 40 years ago. Since it is only about 4 or 5 hours travel from Manila I'll be back again....and again... Don't wait....it won't last long in its present form. The only reason this doen't rate "excellant" is that I wouldn't want some ususpecting traveler to assume "excellant" meant "deluxe". :-)

I have stayed in many, many hotels all over Philippines, and also the world. In Philippines, I find the so-called "luxury hotels" a rip-off. The only luxury is its luxurious prices. Never any value. So, I prefer to stay at mid-range hotels where the accommodations are super clean and the food excellent, and the staff very friendly and efficient. I found all these at Tamaraw Beach Resort. I was actually sceptical when I looked at their homepage, as the concrete block painted in decidedly "un-tropical" colors turned me off. But most of the other Puerto Galera hotels turned me off for the same reasons. But what caught my attention was past reviews, and also a photo of their CR, which seemed very clean (I really, really NEED a clean CR). So I gambled. And reserved directly with the hotel for 3 nights. Wow, was I surprised. The rooms are immaculate! The CR is super clean, and there is no a single speck of dust or spiderweb! The restaurant is very simple setting on the beach, but the menu is extensive and the prices are very, very inexpensive (60pesos for a shake, and most entrees are 100pesos or so). The portions are small, but the quality is far superior to the meals I sampled at Portofino and Tamarind resto. I really mean far superior! The staff appear to be relatives or close friends or the ownership, as they seemed very relaxed around the premises. But they are VERY courteous, and prompt. They never once forgot an order, or a request. For the ambience, the beach is very, very nice. Sabang is a dump compared to Aninuan beach, which is completely free of any basura. The surf is strong, so it's not easy to swim, but it sure is fun! By the way, I woudn't even consider dipping my toe in the sabang beach with all the trash in the water! In terms of convenience, the hotel is near the snorkeling grounds (coral garden is halfway between tamaraw and sabang beach). I didn't feel the need to venture to the neighboring resort, Aninuan Beach Resort, but its just next door so you can walk there for a drink for a change of scenery. I didn't stay at Aninuan because their room price compared to tamara was same (superior room 1,200p lean season; aninuan is about the same for a similar room), but is 15 years old, compared to tamaraw's 1yr. But Aninuan has a new building, which is 4x more expensive (4,000p) than tamaraw. I am sure its nice, but for me, i would not pay 4,000p for a single room...
So, bottomline. I can't recommend tamaraw highly enough! Have fun!
