Puerto Galera is one of my favorite places in the Philippines. Located on the beautiful island of Mindoro with it’s steep mountains, lush jungles, remote beaches and tranquil pace of life, it is a destination that is surprisingly easy to get to with only a 2 hour bus ride and boat crossing from metro Manila. It features some of the finest snorkeling and diving in the Philippines. White Beach is a famous tourist destination and very crowded, expensive and busy with all the activities that you expect in a tourist resort (jet skiing, bars, restaurants, etc.). Sabang is more laid back with dive shops, hotels and lots of ex-pats, but the real gem lies to the west of Sabang, east of white beach and north of Puerto Galera. This triangle includes the small islands of Paniquian and Medio islands. The coves, beaches and reefs here are the best in the area. There is even a cave you can visit with an underwater entrance in addition to land access. It's the area near the town of Puerto Galera proper which is the main business center featuring some great restaurants, fruit markets and stores without the frantic pace of White beach and a short ride to Sabang. Most convenient to this area is The Manor which sits up on a hill on a peninsula overlooking the entire Puerto Galera area with sweeping views up and down the coast and across at the huge volcanic mountains. It is built like an estate with a large main building, lots of out buildings, private pool, long winding driveway. The Manor is filled with beautiful pieces of art collected from all over the world by the owners and huge spacious rooms exactly like you would expect as a guest of a large private estate. For those old enough to remember the show; think “Fantasy Island”. It is one of the most unique properties in the Philippines and a must if your itinerary includes Puerto Galera area. The hotel is usually quiet and very private. It features a beautiful swimming pool with views of both the mountains and the majestic palms and waters of Balateros cove. It’s only a short walk from the hotel to Sandbar beach where you can rent the boats to take you out to the snorkel sites on Paniquian and Medio islands. The staff at the Manor are also first class. Well trained, friendly, helpful with an intimate knowledge of the area. They arrange all your transportation needs, prepare meals in the dining area if you are eating breakfast, lunch or dining in for dinner. The rooms and grounds are maintained in great condition. Restaurants in the area include Robbies pizzeria and the yacht club located just down the hill from the hotel which also features a once a week Indian night. I have stayed at the Manor every trip for the last 11 years for a week or so and can heartily recommend it. It is a unique property, a unique and special feeling to live on an estate with a private pool and wait staff, unbelievable views and such convenience to world class activities but yet private and quiet. And it’s surprisingly affordable. I attached photos of the views and sunsets that text can’t convey ;)

This was a very special property nestled near the Yacht Club and one which oozed class and sophistication. It had a private and serene ambience and could boast great service. The bathroom was particularly lavish and had very good personal cleansing amenities.

My wife & I stayed at The Manor in February. We really enjoyed being away from the scene at White Beach & Sabang. Still we were only a few minutes walk from the bay, boating & snorkeling opportunities! The Manor offers peace, quiet & privacy along with outstanding views! We felt pampered by the friendly staff. The food was good as well. The rooms are each unique, comfy & well decorated. We felt like we were visiting friends when we stayed here!

It was excellent. Privacy on the side of a hill away from the hustle and bustle of private beaches. Found a way to commune with nature away from all the noise of people drinking and partying. This place really works as a hidey-hole away from the rest of civilization but near the yacht club (Muelle area).

I stayed at the manor in puerto galera for 5 nights, Our vacation started marvelously. We've got picked up by a very friendly driver ART. He was very helpful in giving us information on whats happening in Puerto galera. When we got to Manor Front Desk and we met 2 friendly young ladies named Maricel and Karen, Maricel guiding us in our room Indonesian Room, Myself and my wife were overwhelmed with the room. i have attached photo of our room., While we were on vacation Maricel set up our island hopping tours,.But the most fun was at Extreme Sports. We did Go Kart, PaintBall, etc. The Manor has a beauiful reastaurant named Garden View. The Manager of the restuarant was very very friendlly and helpful. We took his suggestions on what we should have for dinner. Out of our 5 nights stayed we had dinner 3 nights on the garden view restaurant and the food was outstanding. Especially the Super chuck burger. My wife really enjoy the chicken spicy coconut sauce. I will highly recommend the manor to all my friends thats coming to puerto galera. I give the Manor 5 stars in Excellent Service.

We were hoping for a relaxing vacation for a leg of our honeymoon tour- but got stressed instead. What was supposed to be a honeymoon "suite" was just a tiny room, and other than the petals on the bed, there was special about it at all. In fact, it smelled very old, and we found at least two cockroaches in the room. The bathroom was so small as well. The water that came out of the faucet was brown and murky (imagine brushing your teeth and gargling with that water). One of the reasons we chose the place was the pool, but for all the days we were there, the pool had no water (because the water was muddy) - and these we're not communicated to us prior, even when we've been in touch via phone with a representative from the resort days before our arrival. The only saving grace was when they finally agreed to transfer us to a better/cleaner room without a charge (which only happened after we persistently requested despite the rejection). The room we transferred to was spacious and a lot nicer but still not without flaws. Upon waking up the following morning, we found our laptop bag which stored inside the cabinet drenched because there was a leak on the roof of the cabinet. Service was lackluster as well. you have to have a lot of patience waiting for breakfast. So they took our order, did not set expectations about possible delays, only to find out 1 hour and several follow ups after that one of the crew was still in the market to buy the ingredients for our breakfast. Pfft.

This is a lovely wee hotel but certainly not for folk with any mobility issues as there are steps to get to everything! Breakfast is served in the restaurant at the bottom of the grounds - lots of steps! Pool is down steps - not many choices of beds and the one I got was broken. Pool table and games room is unusable due to poor condition of table and no air conditioning in the room. Staff are lovely, very helpful and friendly. Always seem to keep themselves busy about the hotel and grounds. Restaurant is lovely and reasonably priced. Gardens are lovely.
