The resort is located at the front of White Beach. Once you step out of the restaurant, your feet will be covered in warm white sand. Beach vendors selling souvenirs, taho, balut, chicharron frequently make their rounds throughout the day. If you wanted to have your hair braided or back massaged, there's plenty of options available too.
The best feature of this resort is its location. The centre of White Beach is lined pubs, bars, karaoke clubs and souvenir shops. Summer Connection is tucked away so nicely that it's away from all the touristy traffic and loud noise, but also perfectly situated for you to enjoy the fresh ocean breeze and summer heat.
I cannot imagine myself staying anywhere else but Summer Connection!
Pool is nice and hotel is right in the beach.
Also next door in the frog bar they sell top quality, great homemade food .
Thoroughly recommend the summer Connection .
The toilet and shower is another story. It looked dirty (but may just be old) and had a funky smell when I first arrived. The smell bothered me so much I bought candles from a nearby store to light inside the toilet and try to minimize the smell. The smell was really bad for me that even after I had showered for the night I still felt dirty =(
The next morning I saw a resort attendant cleaning the nearby hut and I asked him to clean the toilet and bath in my hut because it smelled bad. He agreed wholeheartedly with a smile and the state of my toilet improved. But the funky smell sometimes returned. I think it has something to do with the drain pipes.
Food - The only meal I tried in this resort was the free breakfast included in the room rate. Coffee was instant (not brewed). Filipino breakfast I ordered on the first morning was ok. On the second morning I ordered an omelet, I was disappointed to see it was just a couple of scrambled eggs with no filling! So better order the American breakfast next time, at least the scrambled eggs will come with bacon.
Beach Frog Bar - I like this bar because it has good beachfront wooden barstools where you can enjoy a bottle of beer while enjoying the view of the sea. Beer during happy hour is way cheaper than the beers in the other establishments along white beach (Php50 compared to Php70). Plus the fried chicken and fries I ordered as my lunch was really delicious!
All in all it was a good stay. The location was the best along White Beach. But for the rate they charge (Php2,500/night, free breakfast for 2), the elast they can do is improve the toilet and shower facilites. I wold prefer to stay at the newer establishments with cleaner bathrooms for the same price. I wouldn't go back here again unless they renovate their toilet and shower.
So when I booked my room online there were no Nipa huts available and I booked a deluxe room. One person on this site mentioned that they emailed the resort and their reservation was switched to a Nipa hut. So that's just what I did. I emailed them and within an hour they responded. Only they advised me to contact agoda.com and have it switched. I did contact agoda.com and they in turned contacted the resort to confirm. Within a few hours I was booked in a Nipa hut. Upon arrival we checked in and talked to Kuya Nestor. We told him that we wanted to go island hopping and snorkeling the next day. He arranged it all. It was a great trip!!! So let me get to the incident that changed this rating from 4 to 3 stars. Upon checking out we were tight on time to catch our boat back to Batangas. They said that they would have to inspect the room which was not a problem. The lady comes back and says the remote to the TV is missing. She sends a guy in there and he comes back and says its missing as well. We asked did they check everywhere especially under the bed. They both sad yes. So I walked back to the room and lifted the bed and there was the remote. Now I'm pretty sure they were going to charge me for this remote if it were in fact "lost". I'm not sure if they were trying to get more money from me or both of them were blind and couldn't see the remote under the bed.
So with the room you get free breakfast and to be honest with you it's a really good selection. The breakfast was actually really good. This is where the food goodness ends. One night I ordered a burger and it was pretty terrible. Know I know what you are saying "why order a burger from a place that serves Filipino food?". Well I ordered it because I wanted a burger and it was on the menu. No matter what type of food the menu consists of everything should be good. If not, take it off the menu.
On to the Nipa hut!! The view was outstanding, but the huts can use some updating for sure. At the price of P7600 for 2 nights I expected more. I believe I was in hut 4. It had hot water which is great because I still can't get used to taking cold showers even if it's blazing hot outside.
With a little more consistency in the staff, some better food and updated lodging this place has the potential to be amazing. With that said, I'm not sure if I'd stay there again or not. I'm not totally disappointed, but I'm not really impressed either.
The room we had was very simple, but I am guessing it is the same as all the places along White Beach. There were two double size beds in the room, a small tv and a washroom and that was it, but when you are at such a beautiful place as White beach, you don't need to spend time in the room other than for sleeping.
The bathroom was basic and only had cold water and there was a small terrace where clothes could be dried. We booked through Agoda and breakfast was included, which was generally good, but I got some food poisoning from the longanisa on one occasion as it hadn't been fully cooked through.
The staff are great and very friendly.
The biggest draw though, is of course the beach. It is a stunning stretch of white sand, far superior to that of nearby Sabang and the vibe is far more relaxed, without the mass of prostitution that there is Sabang. It was beautiful; to walk along the beach to the end of White Beach or scramble around some rocks for another kilometre of glorious views and an almost deserted expanse of sand.
