What a gorgeous property in Puerto Galera! Private, in a cove without other resorts anywhere to be seen.
The staff is incredibly helpful, kind and friendly!
We dove with Julienne (Super J) and she took us to marvelous spots for seeing sharks, etc. She is amazing – our kids did Discover Scuba with her and were very nervous before. By the second day, they couldn’t get enough and were ready to go through the dive course.
Rose who runs the dive program is wonderfully warm and welcoming. The boat guys were so nice and worked hard. The rooms were immaculate, the staff serving the food and beverages on the deck overlooking the water couldn’t have been more attentive and right on top of everything in that whole area.
The office staff were delightful, helpful and on top of answering any questions, ordering tuk-tuks, etc.
The Edgewater team there makes the special place magical, and under somewhat challenging working conditions. There were times that the owner, Richard, would yell and cuss at the staff in public places. We felt bad for the hard workers who tried so hard to make it wonderful and always had smiles on their faces.

Thank you for your fantastic review. I agree 100% that it’s ‘the Edgewater team that makes the place special and magical’. The magic of Edgewater however, does not happen “under challenging working conditions” though. This magic happens because staff & ownership work together as a high performing team in a safe, flexible, fun, caring and family environment. This is born out by your wonderful review as well as the almost 1000 similar reviews across various review sites and finally our very high staff retention rates. Most of our staff have been with us since opening, almost 3 years. People don’t stay “under challenging working conditions”! Sometimes all is not as it seems, and things can be taken out of context. Wow, what an amazing stay we had at Edgewater! All staff members were absolutely amazing (shout out to Vince, Glenn, Adrian, Ann, Jeff and the owners Richard and Victoria!) From the moment we arrived we felt at home.
We did two amazing dives with Dive Master Jun, who really knew great diving spots and exposed us to the beautiful marine life around Puerto Galera. The dive equipment was of very good quality as well, which shows the professionalism of the dive shop at Edgewater.
The food was delicious; somewhat more expensive than other places on the island but it was really worth it. There was also a wide variety of dishes to choose from.
All the rooms are stunning and very clean, and have comfortable bedding and spacious bathrooms.
We had a wonderful, hour-long massage in the spa from two skilled masseuses, which we very much enjoyed!
On their sun deck you can completely unwind and enjoy the breathtaking view over the mangroves.
The rescued animals (puppies Scuba and Nicky & a majestic cat named Max, amongst others) around the premises are absolutely adorable as well, we really loved having them around. They mind their own business and don’t bother you at all, but you’re free to pet them!

Edgewater Dive and Spa Resort has secured a spot in the top 5 of our travel list due to its exceptional location, accommodation, and staff. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, we were greeted with warmth and received outstanding care. The owners, Richard and Vika, are present almost daily and display a genuine interest in their guests' well-being. Richard, being a passionate diver, provided us with valuable advice on dive spots and answered all our related questions. Thanks to him, we had incredible dives. Billy and Jun, the dive masters, took excellent care of us and introduced us to a variety of dive locations. The resort's convenient proximity to everything made our stay even more enjoyable.
Speaking of accommodation, what you see is exactly what you get at Edgewater Dive and Spa Resort. We were delighted to find two spacious and clean rooms equipped with air conditioning and fans. The comfortable beds ensured a good night's sleep. Additionally, we indulged in the outdoor spa, which added to our overall relaxation.
We cannot praise the hotel and restaurant staff enough. Jeff and his team made sure we never went hungry. The food was not only delicious but also served with a warm and friendly attitude. Our child especially loved the attention he received.
In terms of managing expectations, it's important to note that the resort does not have a beach right on its premises. However, this was not an issue for us as they have a lovely little pool, and with only 12 rooms, it never felt crowded. It's worth mentioning that food preparation may take some time, so it's advisable to place your order ahead of time if you're in a hurry. The resort's slightly secluded location was something we appreciated, as it provided a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere. Despite this, the hotel staff goes above and beyond to make your stay as effortless and convenient as possible. They are more than willing to assist with booking boats for beach tours, arranging tuktuks, or any other transportation needs.
We enjoyed our stay at Edgewater Dive and Spa Resort so much that we have already made plans for our next visit. A big thank you to the entire Edgewater team for making our experience truly memorable.

While we did not stay at the resort, I did make 18 dives over nine days out of their dive shop. Had a great time. Prices were comparable to other local shops. The dive guide provided safe diving and the boat crew was friendly and helpful. Edgewater has a speedboat that doesn't care how many tanks are upfront. It's fast. At the end of each dive, divers were provided with full size fresh dry towels, hot wash cloths and freshwater from a sport bottle labeled with your name. Back at the dive shop there's a hot freshwater shower to rinse off. I stowed my dive gear there each day as they have a secure storage area. Could not have been happier with the service.

Exceptional in all ways! Visually stunning location featuring the bay and hills. Staff are super organized and can get things done efficiently, especially useful now when dealing with covid travel restrictions. Excellent and personalized customer service. The food is gourmet - fresh fish and other delicious options. The diving experiences were professional, flexible and well-organized - so many great dives with interesting critters! It was also easy to chat with the owners Richard and Viktoriya and staff, making the stay an enjoyably social experience. Sadly we've had to move away from the Philippines but we loved Edgewater so much, we would go out of our way to revisit!

Without a doubt this is the single best and what I'd call a real resort in the Philippines, and I've stayed in a few.
It's the small things, the welcome drink and registration process. The linen table napkins, cotton towels in the bathroom, the spotlessly clean water around the resort. It's just a pleasure to be here.
Rooms are enormous, big 4 post bed, seats, coffee table and a private outdoor courtyard with comfy seats. Plus its quiet!
Food is awesome and very generous servings.
Dive shop on site with great staff.
Not being a cat lover my only negative is the cats allowed to roam all over the resort, including the dining area. With them climbing tables while people are eating and constantly under your feet. The staff do their best to remove the cats if required. This takes away from the perfect resort experience for me. Hence 4 out of 5.
I'll go back anyway.

As far as the cats go, besides the obvious fact that we are animals lovers and we do rescue animals, these cats also have a special purpose. They keep the rodents and other unwanted pests population in the resort area under control. We would also like to mention that all our animals are clean and healthy, have their immunization up to date and see the veterinarian regularly for routine checkups. Edgewater is an absolute gem! The location overlooks a beautiful inlet and there is always a gentle breeze that makes handing out on the restaurant balcony enjoying a beverage or a meal with the other friendly guests extremely pleasant. For divers, there are so many beautiful dive sites just a few minutes away, and the dive masters make this a great experience for both novice and experienced divers. Even if you are not a diver, you will have an amazing time.
The staff and service are impeccable. They helped us arrange transportation between the airport in Manila to the ferry and then had a pick up for us from the port in Puerto Galera.
Lastly, getting to know the owners Richard and Vika made the experience even more memorable. They are both down to earth and incredibly nice. Richard even made a home cooked dinner for us one of the evenings.
Would definitely be back and you should do yourself a favor and check this place out!

The staff was welcoming and supportive. As a scuba beginner I found the instructors and guides to be attentive, which instilled a sense of safety and confidence when diving. The location provided a good selection of interesting dive sites.

The hotel is super cute and super convenient if your main purpose for visiting Puerto Galera is diving. The restaurant and bar has everything you need and the staff is really friendly. They took care of any request we had with a smile and made sure our visit was awesome. The dive team was also wonderful. Our dives were one of a kind and we felt safe and taken care of the whole time. One note, think about the on site massage if your shy. We got rain in our buttcracks and flashed a whole group of incoming tourist, but hey they were here to see the wildlife!!! :)
