We had a perfect travel and stay . Service is Fantastic, our private boat arrived on time and the crew so helpful . I highly recommended this place for all divers . Thank you Chuck for the great service.
We had a great time with Dave and his crew! Thank you very much, we definitely want to come back. Diving with you was superb but we also loved the GinJuice 😀 Food and rooms upstairs were also really good. We checked out many places before deciding for a divecenter and this one was the best by far. Keep up your amazing work!
The dive shop and divemasters are very experienced and professional. I would definitely dive with Capt'n Gregg's when I return to Sabang Beach. The dive sites are minutes away and the diving is excellent.
This was a great base to dive in Puerto Galera! Our group of 3 stayed in the 3 rooms located right above the dive shop, which made it a BREEZE to zip down for an early dive and zip back up to our rooms for a break or a meal. The aircon and TV worked perfectly, and the rooms were really well mainained and clean! FOOD After eating at Capt'n Gregg's, it became hard to choose better spots along the coast for good food at a good price. The meals (especially the famous burgers!) were always bigger than expected and super tasty! I'd recommend trying the soups and the amazing tocilog if you're looking for something local. STAFF Chuck was manning the hotel while we were there, and his warm friendliness + savvyness around Puerto Galera will definitely bring us back for future trips! The great Aaron was our dive master, and he did well to keep us safe and well-briefed while showing us all the great dive sites around the port. Knowing the sites like the back of his hand, he was able to tailor our dives and choose the sites depending on what we wanted to see. He was a perfect gentleman and helped us find transport to our next dive destination at Anilao! We look forward to diving with Aaron again and hope that you get the chance to dive with him on your journey to PG :)…
I have been to Oriental Mindoro a few times and this time I stayed at Capt'n Greggs. Previous I had visited the restaurant on a few occasions and always found the food to be appetising and the service. The service from manager to cleaner was 1st rate Chuck see his guests as extended family and nothing is too much of a problem and any requests to the staff were dealt with immediately. The hotel itself is small and cosy and the room were kept clean. For me this was a diving holiday and once again there was a five star service, the professionalism of the diving time and the knowledge of my dive master made this an excellent break. I do intend to come back to Sabang and I will be hoping to stay at capt'n Greggs
Struggling to find anything to like in Sabang we popped in here for a beer and got chatting to David, one of the instructors from the dive centre below. He single handedly convinced us to stay for a few more days and spend some time diving there. We checked into their reasonably priced rooms and, a bit too hungover to dive, borrowed some snorkelling equipment for free and went out to explore the bay. The following day we did two dives with them which were both excellent. David was a great instructor and an equally talented underwater photographer and took photos that he was happy to share with us. The food in the restaurant was good and the bar open late. You're made to feel incredibly welcome here. Try the gin juice, the bars local speciality.
As a British couple visiting Captn Greg's, we were initially impressed with the bar, dive and reception area and thought we had made the correct decision coming. When we entered our room, we encountered the most outrageous signs/notices in our room. Words can't really describe how disgusting these are - see below for images. These signs were affixed to the door, wall and bathroom in our bedroom. These signs are not only sexist and misogynistic but are aggressive in nature and deeply disrespectful. The owner is an Australian man who we did not wait to discuss with and immediately left the hotel to find somewhere safer nearby. Sadly the women working in the hotel who we discussed these with felt unable to agree with us because of their employment at Captn Greg's. We have been in contact with and sent these images to Lonley Planet who have agreed immediately to remove this establishment from their book. Additionally we booked through Epxedia who agreed to pay our entire bill at the replacement hotel for us. I can't imagine anyone would really want to support an establishment such as this, as Expedia and Lonley planet agree. I only publish this review to warn families, couples and female travelers of the attitude towards them so they can make an informed choice. We want to forget about this place but need to warn those against this aggressive behaviour.…
The place is ok, with a nice view, well located in the middle of Sabang. Good food at the restaurant. Rooms are ok, but the building just behind is an escort bar, making noise until 3.00 am (impossible to sleep, even with earplugs). And when I came back after diner at the hotel, a prostitute and her customer came and get a room. Not pleasant at all. Concerning diving, it was disappointing. We were 8 with only 1 instructor. Poor briefing, no buddy check, we were speed up to jump in the water, lack of security instructions. Underwater it was also boring because even if Big Boy is a fantastic Dive Master who showed us a lot of great stuff, we were struggling being 8 trying to see the same sea horse! It’s a shame because Verde island is really an amazing spot to dive, would have been more fun with a smaller group.…
After reading reviews on Trip Advisor I thought this place would at least have hot water. After asking staff I was advised to run the water for 15 minutes before using the shower. Even after following their advice, no hot water for 4 days. If your looking for the basics of at least a hot shower after a long day out on the island you may wish to consider your choices of hotel.
Great food . staff were very friendly and helpful . Chuk the manager / owner was great sorted all transfers out and was always around to help . Dive shop could not have been better Dave and Big ensured we had a great stay
