We had a great time with Dave and his crew! Thank you very much, we definitely want to come back. Diving with you was superb but we also loved the GinJuice 😀 Food and rooms upstairs were also really good.
We checked out many places before deciding for a divecenter and this one was the best by far. Keep up your amazing work!

Fantastic place to stay, especially if you're diving with their equally excellent dive shop. The rooms are all new, clean, good aircon and most have a view of the bay. Coupled with the restaurant that serves a range of good food, I simply can't fault it.

Got there after arriving on Sabang pier and visiting a couple of other options on the waterfront and having to say no a million times to the sometimes harassing people who want you to come to their hotel. I visited the rooms of Dive VIP, horrible... 6 or 7 huge cockroaches in the bathroom...
I had exchange a couple of emails with owner Chuck who responded fairly quickly. Even though he told me the price was 800 pesos per night for a queen bed fan room, we verbally agreed for a price of 700 pesos when I arrived there (it was low season and you can definitely find rooms around at 500 or 600 pesos if you search).
Their hotel is very nice because it is on the second floor so the many vendors on the beach don't really have access to you all the time. Plus, their restaurant where you can hang out has a great wooden boat like ambiance, very nice.
The three fan rooms just next to the reception desk have an amazing view (see photos) on the Sabang bay and you can here the waves break on the beach at night, very pleasant.
The diving with them was great, thanks to Mas, Marco, Lhedy, Bhon and boat Captain with the funny hat! I like it because they have a mix of foreigners (Mas, Marco) and local (Bhon and Big Boy) divemasters and instructors. Equipment was in good order and staff helpful. I paid 1200 pesos per dive including equipment although you can find dive operators in Sabang that will charge as low as 900 pesos per dive.
The only downside was the attitude of owner Chuck who, when it was time to pay my bill, tried to charge me 800 pesos a night (we agreed on 700 as previously said) because I did not eat once in his restaurant. Sorry dude, but you can bring that up when you never mentioned that in the first place. Plus, I chose to dive with your company even though it was pricier than other places and I had a couple of drinks in your bar. Not pleasant at all and he is not so friendly in general... maybe time to retire my friend!
I would recommend this place and go back.

Response from chuckdriver, Owner at Capt'n Gregg's Accommodation
Responded Oct 6, 2013
Imagine you are running resort restaurant , trying to make money so you can pay your staff all the bills and try to put some aside for retirement , and your guest brings food from the outside and then asked your staff for knives and forks plates to eat so he can eat in his room , and in a six day stay didn't eat once in your restuarant , had a few drinks but that wouldn't pay for the pay one hours electricity here, this person is most probably is a government worker where he has no worries about money in his pocket, but then again its becoming more popular that tourist bring their own drinks packet food in , but in the end this does not help pay the bills and my retirement

I was grateful to find a room in Sabang just before Chinese New Year.
My room no 5 on the street level wasn’t bad as such but it was so noisy late after midnight with the drunks. Then the cleaners will wake you up at 06:30 when cleaning the street….Not to mention a 24 hours restaurant Sly Dogs next door.
The safety box kept jamming in and the shower is cold. (It actually doesn’t says hot shower in the room details)
I had a Pina Colada at the bar but there was no Rhum in it. I complained but the girl insisted she did put a nip in. It’s small potatoes but mostly bad attitude from the staff. I have drunken enough Pina Colada in my life to know what I am talking about. My second drink Rhum and coke was totally fine. I did watch the older lady making it. Sad isn’t it I had to check.
Beautiful location but so noisy unless you drink enough to offset.

The room was moldy to the point that we checked out the next day with breathing problems. The room next door to ours was not as bad, but had giant roaches. The location was good. The diving was OK, they seemed to like to go deep for no real reason other than to keep the dive short. There is some current to lots of current. Overall the diving was much better in Anilao. The restaurant was poor. The food took a long time to arrive and then was just poor. When we went to pay, they charged us an additional 6.5% for using a credit card. This was the only place in the Phillippines that did this.

Staff is very good, the rooms are fine (budget). This is a small place adjacent to sabang beach and some of the rooms face the sea (Sabang has very little beach - it is mostly brown sand and about 10 feet in width). The restaurant is very good, take some time to read the musings on the walls. I did not try diving, but the dive shop seemed well equipped. The hotel has been around since 1983. It is also among the rare restaurants in Sabang that keep daily newspapers for you to read.

As a British couple visiting Captn Greg's, we were initially impressed with the bar, dive and reception area and thought we had made the correct decision coming.
When we entered our room, we encountered the most outrageous signs/notices in our room. Words can't really describe how disgusting these are - see below for images. These signs were affixed to the door, wall and bathroom in our bedroom.
These signs are not only sexist and misogynistic but are aggressive in nature and deeply disrespectful.
The owner is an Australian man who we did not wait to discuss with and immediately left the hotel to find somewhere safer nearby. Sadly the women working in the hotel who we discussed these with felt unable to agree with us because of their employment at Captn Greg's.
We have been in contact with and sent these images to Lonley Planet who have agreed immediately to remove this establishment from their book. Additionally we booked through Epxedia who agreed to pay our entire bill at the replacement hotel for us.
I can't imagine anyone would really want to support an establishment such as this, as Expedia and Lonley planet agree. I only publish this review to warn families, couples and female travelers of the attitude towards them so they can make an informed choice. We want to forget about this place but need to warn those against this aggressive behaviour.

When I was out diving with these guys I seen our dive master called "big boy" pick up a nudibranch and put it beside another one so one of the divers with a camera who takes some shots , another time the instructor "David" was teaching brand new open water students Sri swim up and pet the resident turtles which is totally against scuba diving policy , imagine if they break those simple rules what other rules they are breaking
