We booked directly through the hotel’s website, which was smooth and hassle-free. When a family emergency prevented one of our companions from joining, the hotel showed flexibility despite our non-modifiable booking. Communication was easy, and their understanding was much appreciated.
Room Quality:
The room was clean and spacious by Hong Kong standards. The bed and pillows were comfortable, ensuring restful nights. Basic amenities included a TV, reliable Wi-Fi, and a mini fridge. While minimal, the abundance of cabinets and dressers was a nice touch for organizing belongings. The bathroom was well-maintained and included a tub, though adding a bidet would be a welcome improvement. Soundproofing was excellent, and we enjoyed a very quiet stay.
Facilities:
We didn’t see the gym or pool, but the hotel does offer function rooms. The lobby was spacious, filled with plants, and created a welcoming ambiance.
Dining:
Breakfast was basic but varied slightly each day, which was appreciated. However, we wished bacon was offered daily. There’s also a cafe and bakery on-site, though we didn’t get to try room service (if available).
Service:
The guest services team was friendly and accommodating. A maintenance staff member who assisted us was very helpful, even with some language barriers, which we found impressive and thoughtful.
Location:
The hotel’s location is a major highlight. It’s near an MTR station, restaurants, and the bustling Mong Kok shopping area. Despite being in a central location, the surrounding area was clean and not overly busy, adding to the convenience and comfort.
Value for Money:
While the rates felt a bit expensive, they are reasonable given the general cost of space in Hong Kong. For those who value cleanliness, comfort, and a central location, it’s worth splurging a little.
Overall Impression:
The Cityview Hotel offers a comfortable and convenient stay, ideal for big families or travelers looking for ease and comfort in Hong Kong. The excellent location, friendly service, and quiet, spacious rooms make it a solid choice.
Suggestions for Improvement:
• Add bidets to the bathrooms for convenience.
• Expand breakfast offerings (e.g., daily bacon).
• Provide clearer information about available amenities like room service.
However, I would recommend booking two standard connecting rooms instead of the family room, as the family room was much smaller than expected and not ideal for family needs.
While most of the staff were fine, Senior Assistant Manager Peter Li truly stood out. He went above and beyond to assist us, offering a professional solution that resolved our issues, ensuring a more comfortable experience, and making our stay memorable. We were able to enjoy our trip fully!
Overall, it was a good stay, and I look forward to future visits to your hotel. I will definitely recommend CityView to my friends and family.
As for the facilities, my deluxe room is spacious with a very comfortable double bed, a office desk with plenty of drawer space, a modern TV and a wardrobe. The bathroom is very spacious with a rain shower and standard shower head depending on your preference. The lighting is quite nicely placed, providing adequate lighting throughout the room. My room is basically next to Waterloo Road, one of the busiest roads in Kowloon, so it does get noisy at times and the window glazing is not very effective at keeping out noise. It can be distracting during the day but I did not find this to be a significant problem even though I have been working from my room. Downstairs, the lobby is well lit with a great atmosphere, seating areas, a Thai restaurant and an in-house bakery. I enjoyed the refreshing contrasts in colours provided by the plants. I have also used their self-service laundry room charged at $40/wash and dry which is a great facility to have in a hotel. It would be even better if gym access was included.
If you are reading this review, you are probably already aware of its convenient location in Yau Ma Tei. MTR is literally staring at you in the face outside. Spoilt for choice with food options - warning, if you are someone who can’t resist temptation, your waistline will be at risk. Believe me, it is probably one of the most convenient locations in HK for dining, shopping, social activities or just about anything really. Often, I didn’t feel the need to go anywhere else because everything I needed was within walking distance.
A memorable stay all around, I do recommend it if you highly rate convenience and personable staff. That’s coming from someone who has stayed in about 10 different hotels in Hong Kong, and about 30 across Europe and mainland China.
All the staff, especially the one attending the reception and concierge, are polite, knowledgeable, helpful and patient in answering our questions. Checking in and out is fast and efficient. The room and other public areas in the hotel are very clean.
There is water dispenser in the lobby for the guests to fill up their water bottle. You can also borrow a scale to weigh your luggage prior to going to to the airport. These are very convenient for the guests staying at this hotel.
Room is clean and spacious. We prefer water hose facilitated in toilet
Quiet location, need 4-5minutes walk from nearest subway station

I think the hotel (based on our room experience) would be acceptable for a one-night stay, but not for anything longer. Overall, we were not very impressed.

It's a 5 minutes walk to Yau Ma Tei MTR, with 2 convenience stores downstairs and 1 supermarket within 10 min walk. Unlimited choice of food in the surrounding. However, the rooms are really small which makes me feel sort of locked up but if you are just looking for a room to sleep after a full day of work or activities, it’s really a great choice with good value for money.
Moreover, there are 3 restaurants within hotel and I would highly recommend the "AMAZING" restaurant for Thai-style cuisine. The food is so delicious and nicely presented. However, the "City Café" restaurant breakfast was kind a boring and basic whereas it lacked the standard the hotel tries to maintain in all other aspects.
