My stay at Banana House was restful, relaxing and refreshing. There are multiple rooms, all spacious and well set up. Some, in the ‘double room garden view‘ category, are slightly larger than others eg the front room on the wellness building - worth asking for if it is free. The Penthouses are stunning. There is no air conditioning but ceiling fans and the ability to have a breeze blow through whilst sleeping under the mosquito nets made for perfect sleeping at this time of year. There are many shared spaces around the buildings to rest, relax and read. Food is fresh, tasty and in good size portions. Daily yoga sessions (Kelly and Fred) were an excellent extra. The BH team can also arrange a variety of different activities for guests. I didn’t use the spa but my friend enjoyed her massage with Mercy.

I live in Nairobi and have been visiting Shela for more than 15 years, usually staying elsewhere. I’ve always heard good things about Banana House and finally recently we stayed when friends were there and booked us in. I was properly impressed how great it is. Many reasons. Primarily the friendly and professional team, who helped us no end. The food, which was very good versions of Swahili staples like fish curry or grilled prawns, but also loads of more imaginative options like poke bowls or courgette fritters. We stayed in two rooms including the penthouse and both were clean comfy and simply stylish. The pool and gardens are beautiful and we lounged around chilling there far more than I usually do on holidays. The kid loved the pool. All round: bravo team banana! We will be back, to stay in our new Shela fave.

My staying at Banana house was a real holiday in paradise. Not only the staff is super helpful and extremely kind, but also the atmosphere and the location is ideal to recharge your batteries after a stressful period. Food was also amazing and having a yoga class in the morning was the best to strat the day in the right way. Thank you!!
