Manda Bay was a perfect 2 night relaxation retreat for us. We were welcomed by smiles and everyone made it a point to look after us. The food was incredible and the isolation of the island is exactly what we needed. The hotel is very clean and comfortable enough to walk around entirely barefoot during the whole stay! Mwezie and Julius were fantastic, never saying no to our requests. The sundowner experience is a must! Andy was a great host, delightful to chat with and taught us how to play croquet. I would highly recommend Manda for anybody considering it.

Manda is a place like no other. Everything was perfection… our spotless beach front room, the beautiful views, the decor, the staff… the delicious food… I have never been anywhere else where I loved every single meal! The sundowners near the ancient ruins are also not to be missed. I could have stayed there for weeks.. Thank you Caragh, Andy, Mwezi and team for a wonderful stay. We hope to be back!

Just came from Manda Bay a few days ago. Having been to Lamu a handful of times before ,Manda Bay was the missing slice we hadn't experienced. We were there with family and stayed 6 nights. It really was a barefoot luxury experience. Mwezi and her team were incredibly attentive and professional. The food was amazing and super fresh. We all really loved it and are already planning our next trip.

Beyond amazing! We were fortunate to have come across this option while planning a one month tour of Kenya. I wanted something in the midst of sweat from hiking and dust from Safari to just unwind. I asked for trees and off beaten path and I got HEAVEN!!! We traveled with 2 adults and two children (10 and 13). We stayed for 6 nights. We were only planning on staying I think for 4 originally, but everyone loved it so much we decided to stay on extra nights! Pros: Wonderful activities - most of them included in the fare. They have a little library. Water sports. Board games. Seclusion - you really have the feeling of being on your own private island. Open air - we love open air holiday places. This was an added bonus as we were traveling amidst COVID. Staff - Everyone was so delightful and caring and concerned for our well being. I am awful with names, but we particularly enjoyed the manager (starts with an M). We hope you are well and your sweet boys are good. And the man that helped with Windsurfing. He was like a father to me and grandfather to our children. He was so concerned for our safety all the time. Even on our tours off site. Food - made fresh all day. Beyond amazing. The ice cream was probably our favorite. And eating under the stars each night was such a treat. Diversity - it was fun to see the different travelers from all over coming in on boat each day. Please don't have cruise ship and pouring of people in mind. I mean one or two people on a single boat. Think Great Gatsby not Venice. Cons Hard to think, but I would have enjoyed the water temp in the shower to be warmer. This did not take away from overall experience, but I feel I should be fair. Building the port across. It did not detract at all from our experience, but worries me for what is to come years down the road. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!

booked through Booking. com where I paid full amount and shared confirmation with the hotel before my departure including a guest form with all my details yet while I was traveling in Kenya I received many calls from the hotel team and emails asking for the same form! now that was odd but I shared it once again with them and when we arrived to the hotel the manager informed me that our room is ready I told her we booked for two rooms not one and she was not aware of that due to a very poor communication between the reservation team and the hotel manager and we have to wait for the two rooms to be ready which was not pleasant! we enter to our room and find out that it was not clean at all and the water was brown and I was shocked when I was having my bath ! cockroaches, insects and lizards falling from the ceiling! we noticed that the hotel is renovating the other rooms this hotel was reopened just in May and apparently they are not ready to accommodate visitors yet! now If it was an ordinary place I would accept it but the fact that I paid more than 2000$ that for sure a waste of money! plus they charged us for the drinks although I was full board and by drinks I refer to nonalcoholic one ! last thing happened which was a disaster when I arrived by boat from the hotel to Manda airport and found out that my luggage was still in the island and they didn’t bring it to airport and my internal flight was about to fly we try to call them manager and she did not respond and it was the most stressful time I went through in my holiday!!!
