Overall, the hotel was fine. Staff was very friendly and accommodating, the location was great, and I would probably stay there again. However, the internet was slower than dial-up. Like, so slow that I just gave up. I'm talking about 7 minutes to download a single 2.5mb picture. Also, be aware that their charges for food and drinks are VERY high when there are plenty of cheaper places to shop, eat, and drink very close to the hotel. For example, on our first morning I was going to buy a couple of large bottles of water and they wanted the equivalent of $6.00 for each one. No way. I bought the same water/size at a store a couple of blocks away for $0.50. I get "convenience pricing", but that's ridiculous...

Ok budget hotel to stay at. Room was clean and serviced well during our stay. Front desk was hospitable as was the wait staff. Breakfast buffet was good and tasteful. We did have lunch and a dinner during our stay. Food was not very tasty and the second evening we went to a different hotel to dine at their restaurant. Our biggest concern was the billing for food. The service fee and tax was added into one number and not shown individually. The total was 77% of what our food costs. Local tax plus service fee is 27% not 77%. The manager would argue that his number was correct but he would not complete the calculation on his calculator…why not? Eventually the bill was corrected. Very disappointing experience. The next day we were shown a chart that the wait staff used to calculate the tax and service charge by item on the menu. He knew what the correct number was, but tried to overcharge us.

Nice, clean, comfortable hotel, but do pay the extra for a Nile view room with balcony. We booked a garden room as we were only staying a couple of nights, but the 'garden' rooms do not overlook a garden at all, they all face inwards over the hotel lobby, the 'garden' being large window boxes with various plants etc. The floor in the lobby is polished every night, the noise of the machine echoing and reverberating all around the lobby area at around 2 to 3 o'clock in the morning ! Apart from that the hotel was really nice, friendly, the food and service in the bar and restaurant was very good.

Good Day, Mr. Peter; On behalf of the management team and staff members; I would like to thank you for sparing your time to post your short comment regarding our hotel services. We are really happy to know that we were up to your expectations and sincerely look forward to welcoming you back. Regarding your side comment about the garden rooms, I would lime that the garden rooms are the ones overlooking the Nile and hotel garden, while the lobby side rooms all are overlooking the lobby area. Please accept my apology for the noise of the floor marble polishing machine and rest assured that we have taken the necessary action and replaced the machine with another that does not emit a loud sound that reaches the ears of the guests in their rooms. Once again we do thank you for your time, and looking forward to welcoming you back to our Iberotel Luxor in the near future. Assuring you of our best services and attention at all the times; Here below my email address and cell phone number: mohamed.hassan@jazhotel.com +20100 1600 611 I will be more than happy to receive a short note of your next visit to welcome you personally. I’ve given the hotel a 4* review purely based on its fantastic location. On the Nile in the middle of Luxor was why I booked here and that expectation was exceeded. The room on the whole I couldn’t fault and the view speaks for itself in the photo. I went bed and breakfast thank god, as the breakfast was awful. I stay in Egypt a lot and wasn’t expecting a full English every morning, but this was far from that. Maybe the evening meals were of a better quality, but can’t comment as I wasn’t involved. There are some nice restaurants locally however for an evening meal. The biggest issue I had here was the staff. 50% we’re okay and the other 50% shouldn’t be anywhere near customers. I was only here 3 nights and encounter the following: 1)A full blown row between 3 pool staff at the middle of the day. Shouting and hands waving at each other, which lasted a good 15 minutes. 2)Pool staff waiting for me to order something the hotel can’t measure as easily, ie a cocktail as opposed to a can of something, so that they could then insist that I pay cash, which I can only assume they were pocketing, as there was definitely a theme there. 3) waiting forever for what you ordered. The hotel was probably at 20% capacity and anything ordered by the pool was fetched by another bar. I waited 25 mins for a glass of wine on day two. 4) trying to be sold uncles day trips by staff members. This got tedious quickly and I told them I would report them if it continued, which solved the issue 5) lastly on checking out the receptionist was taken a personal call and never actually engaged with me whatsoever as she wrote out our bill. I needed directions to the train station, but didn’t feel obliged to interrupt her call. I would stay here again on the pretence that these staff issues will be moved on, but it’s something the hotel needs to address, as they are dampening down what was a fantastic hotel otherwise.

Location: - The hotel is in a good location, walking distance to the train station and central part of Luxor (Luxor Temple, Souks etc). - However, taxis are not expensive in Egypt, and Careem (like Uber) operates in Luxor for those not wanting to negotiate with taxi drivers. - I had considered the other 2 Steinbergers which are further south of the Nile and hence, further away from the main area. These, at the time of booking, were slightly more expensive but looked significantly nicer. If you are staying for more than 1 night, i would suggest a nicer hotel, further out. Hotel Grounds: - The grounds of the hotel and public areas are well maintained. It's clean and well kept. - The pool closes after sunset and there are fresh towels as well as an outdoor shower. - The pool is also sitting in the Nile, which makes it feel like you are swimming in the Nile even though you are not. - There is a pool/billiards table in the bar area. The hotel charges 100 LE for 1 hour play. This to me as a paying guest, seemed unnecessary and left a bad taste. In my opinion if they are striving to be a 4* hotel, this should be free to play. Room - On first glance, the Superior Twin room facing the Nile seemed quite nice. However, there were lots of issues, which barely seemed worthwhile raising with housekeeping. - The door handle to the inside of the room, came off.... - The towel rack in the bathroom was coming off the wall - There were no amenities, but a soap dispenser on the wall like those in public toilets. The hotel has signed up to be a "Green" hotel, but the single soap dispenser looked cheap. - All the furniture was scuffed and marked and it need of replacement. - The balcony doors did not slide properly and needed to be lifted and dragged to be opened. - The cushions on the chairs on the balcony were heavily stained.

Excellent value for money. We were there in Jan 2022 and the hotel was not crowded. Our room was comfortable, modern and well-maintained. The room had heating which was a plus for jan. Breakfast buffet was excellent. Location was walking distance to the main square. Views of Nile were perfect. Service was also good.
