The Marriott Courtyard Seoul Mamdaemun is conveniently situated downtown- only a 10 minute work into the beating heart is Seouls shopping and food street bonanza, and on the doorstep good Korean BBQ restaurants.
The Hotel is very modern, taking advantage of modern technology like the didgital water temperature on the shower and the electric toilet, the room was a goood size and the decor striking with touches as the lime green metalic fridge / mini bar against a natural wood background- 👍🏼
The breakfast buffet offered everything and more than you might be expecting including local specialities and a regular Chefs complimentary pass around, KUDOS to Head Chef Lee. The good food supported with impeccable service made for a great start to the morning.
If you can get a reservation here I’m quite sure you’d be surprisingly happy with your choice.

We spent a week at the Courtyard by Marriott Seoul Namdaemun in October 2023. It's a really good 4/5 star hotel in an excellent location for walking to major tourist areas as well as as being well connected for public transport. English is widely and fluently spoken by front of house staff. We booked one of the Deluxe larger rooms which was a good size, and paid for the Executive Lounge access - which was a reasonable cost and we found as per other reviews that the evening food offering was very good and served the purpose of once we returned to the hotel each evening after a full day exploring, we did not need to go back out to find something to eat. However during the day the lounge only offers hot / cold drinks and nuts / crisps - we weren't impressed with that. Note that if you pay for the Exec Lounge access your breakfast is included in the rate and this is taken in the main hotel restaurant Mo Mo Cafe. The hotel is modern and in excellent condition and everywhere is extremely clean. It's location is good, within walking distance of many tourist areas and attractions, and we did a lot of walking whilst in the city. We also used public transport to range widely across the city - and there are three subway stations within about 8 minutes walking distance from the hotel, as well as many bus stops. Vehicle transfers from Incheon airport are expensive, so we used the express train service into Seoul Central station, which is an easy 10 minute brisk walk with cases on good pavements to the hotel. Overall this was the right hotel for us for a busy week exploring the city and we highly recommend it as a base for that purpose.

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel! The location was perfect, making it easy to explore the surrounding area. Our room was impeccably clean and tidy, with plenty of USB ports, which was really convenient for charging all of our devices. The front desk staff were always friendly and helpful whenever we had contact with them. Room service was quick and efficient and the food was delicious. The breakfast buffet had a wide variety and everything was fresh and tasty. Despite being in a busy area our rooms were surprisingly quiet, allowing for a restful night's sleep. An added bonus was the onsite washing machines which made our stay even more convenient. Highly recommend this hotel for comfort and service

The hotel does not provide guests with free shafing kits, toothbrushes and paste and does not provide room cleaning service after 5 pm. Also, there are no services, for rooms and food after 11 pm , bags delivery to and from rooms is not available, and they do not welcome it ... The reception is not smiled at all and the services are miserable... Good as a hotel location only... It was an unfortunate trip with this particular hotel. I don't recommend staying there at all. There are many hotels in this are .

We were in Seoul for 10 days and found this to be a great location, central to all the sights we wanted to see and within easy walking distance to bus and metro stops. Our room was on the small side (by western standards), but ok for the two of us. There was no place to put a second suitcase so mine had to be kept on the floor. Also, there was no desk, but there was a small table near the window with 2 small chairs.
We enjoyed the floor-to-ceiling windows and had a nice view of the street below (from the 9th floor) and Seoul Tower. There was no tub, but the shower was a decent size and had a rain-type showerhead above, along with a standard showerhead and a handheld.
We thought the price we paid for the room was a good value, but the breakfast buffet was too expensive. We did the buffet for a few mornings for the convenience. There were lots of choices and the food ranged from average to good. We discovered Queen's Bakery a few blocks down which serves better croissants than I've had in France along with other baked goods and delicious coffee.
We found the service throughout the hotel to be attentive and friendly. All in all, we'd stay at the Courtyard Namdaemun again.

My stay at Courtyard Seoul Namdaemun was a bit of a mixed experience. One standout (and slightly nerve-wracking) feature was the carpark—it’s one of the narrowest and most challenging spiral ramps I’ve encountered in Seoul. It’s worth mentioning for anyone planning to drive here!
The hotel seems to be popular with airline crews, as I noticed quite a few during my stay. Unfortunately, the lounge was closed at the time, so I couldn’t experience that aspect. Staff service was inconsistent; one staff member was warm and welcoming, while another was less accommodating until I clarified a previous promise made to me by another team member.
I booked a suite, but the room felt quite small for a suite category, and the sofa was quite uncomfortable. The room lighting was also on the dim side, making it a bit challenging to work or relax comfortably in the evening. However, a nice touch was the inclusion of a humidifier, which was a lifesaver in the dry season.
The bathroom, on the other hand, was surprisingly spacious, with a large basin area, a bathtub, and a separate shower—definitely a highlight in terms of room amenities.
Overall, Courtyard Seoul Namdaemun has a few positives, but room comfort and service consistency could be improved.

This stay was absolutely epic in its perfection. From the minute we checked in with front desk manager, Mr Chris Ko, until late check out and the concierge once again making an appointment for us (taxi to airport), everything was above and beyond our expectations.
We are seasoned travelers and not easily impressed. We are reasonable and pragmatic with regard to our expectations. We were blown away by the exceptional service and high standards of this hotel and staff.
Everyone was so kind and welcoming and helpful. Our room was always spotless. Every one associated with breakfast from the Executive Chef (whom I met and thanked) to the young woman who checked us in every day, the men who seated us at our various tables, those who cheerfully cleared our dirty dishes with a smile…everyone at the hotel was amazing but seriously it started with Mr Ko.
Mr Ko treated us to beverages when we arrived way too early. He found a room with a nice view of Seoul Tower for us because we were staying for such a long time (12 days).
The concierge team made all kinds of appointment and suggestions for us and provided directions/maps. Our first trip to Korea was a home run because of Courtyard Marriott Namdaemun! Thank you from our hearts!

Stayed here with family, rooms small however similar size to other hotels in Seoul. The service was very good, we did not park here but they do have a parking garage. Very good location. Service was excellent, we do not speak Korean yet had no difficulties as all the staff were fluent in English. Paid for Club Level rooms - this was worth it as it included breakfast at the hotel restaurant which was a fantastic buffet! Had wide variety of foods including regular American / european foods and Korean food, fresh fruit, great self serve coffees, made to order noodles and eggs. Also included happy hour with free beverages including alcohol and very good self serve coffee, and enough different food to make a light dinner. Highly recommend this hotel with the club level!

Spent 2 weeks at this hotel with 2 adults and two tweens in a room with 2 double beds. Also spent several weeks at the Courtyard Times Square and and a week in Courtyard Suwon in rooms with two double beds so this review will compare and contrast all three hotels. The location at CY Namdaemun can’t be beat, it is a short walk to several different subways lines and Seoul Station making it a perfect location to explore Seoul and the surrounding region. It is also in walking distance of several major tourists sites in Seoul and is right across the street from the famed Naedaemun Market. All three hotels have double beds large enough to comfortably sleep two adults and the rooms are large enough not to feel cramped. As Platinum Elite the whole family had the buffet breakfast at all three hotels at the Momo cafe which included western and Korean dishes and all three hotels had an excellent breakfast. The wife and I also enjoyed the executive lounge at all three hotels which included a nice variety of western and Korean foods and desserts. It also included basic top shelf liquors, wine and a single draft beer (Kloud) so I brought in my own Korean craft beer when we used the lounge (craft beer is now ubiquitous in Korean convenience stores). The service and English ability of the staff in all three hotels is phenomenal! The Times Square CY had been our go to Hotel in Seoul over the past several years and we recently stayed there as well. While slightly more expensive than the Namdaemun location of late and in a less touristy location, it’s biggest benefit is being located in the Times Square Mall. If using public transportation and the weather is bad you can use the underground shopping mall that connects the train/subway station to reach the hotel/mall. The Suwon CY is new and a great hotel in an up and coming area but is located far away from tourist attractions to include the ones in Suwon (but there is an aquarium right next to the hotel). There is a subway stop located about a 10 minute walk away that you can take towards Seoul or after switching trains, towards Suwon station. However, if price is a factor, it is consistently the most expensive of the three probably because it caters to business travelers but the lounge is the least crowded. At the other two hotels the lounge can be quite crowded on weekends but they run two sessions for access.

We stayed at the Courtyard Seoul Namdaemun during our first trip to S. Korea. Prior to our arrival, we exchanged e-mails with the hotel staff via Marriott and received alot of good information about the hotel, its surroundings, direction and transportation to the hotel, etc. The hotel staff was very responsive to our inquiries. Upon arrival, we find the hotel is in a perfect location (as advertised), across the road is the Namdaemun traditional market, 10 min walk is the Myeongdong shopping district, which has both the luxury goods shops as well as the traditional market shops, not to mention good food all around. 20 min walk is the N Seoul Tower. The street right behind the hotel has all kinds of restaurants. During the weekdays there are alot of people at these restaurants, during the weekends most of them have a waiting line. The hotel staff (the receptionist, the restaurant staff, the concierge, the housekeeping, the Executive lounge staff, everyone) are all great. Very helpful, very pleasant, very polite, and always great us with a smile. The breakfast buffet was awesome, we had breakfast there every morning during our entire week of stay. Good variety of food there too. There are bus stops right in front of the hotel, and City Hall subway station (Exit 7) is less than 10 min walk. We like the people, we like the service, we like the food, and we like the location. It was a perfect stay in Seoul.

Yes, the hotel has two washing/dryer machines. Also, the best way to communicate with a specific location, go to Marriott Bonvoy website. They respond quickly.
Hope this help!

Hi Voyage443,
We took the AREX to Hoehyeon. If you need assistant the ticket counter at the Incheon Airport are very helpful. (Note there are two terminals in Incheon Airport. If flying Korean Air like we did, we were in Terminal 2 while United Airlines is on Terminal 1. Reference on the Incheon International website. The staff assisted and informed us where to get off. Even though we were lost, someone will always help. If you get off at Hoehyeon, asked where Namdaemunsijang-gil (street) that will take you to Namdaemun-ro. You will see the Courtyard. Also, ask where Sungnyeman Gate (famous landmark) and the Courtyard is kitty across the street. I hope this help!
There are more places to choose from in the Seoul area.
