Detailed Reviews
Pros - Kukdo hotel is a very convenient place to stay in Seoul. The airport bus stop is right in front of the hotel as well as subway station and bus stops nearby. The hotel also has a convenience store and pharmacy located in the building. There is a large food court nearby in the adjacent office building as well. It is within walking distance of Gwangjang market and Myeongdong. Overall it is a good place for someone who has not been to Korea before. The housekeeping staff was also very friendly.
Cons - The rooms are outdated and need touch up. Door frames were peeling. In the bathroom, there were worn and moldy bathroom tiles. Some of the wires in the room seemed so worn i was worried about a fire hazard. One our beds also had moldy sheets which we let the front desk know about. The AC in the building was not turned on our first night making it extremely hot and the staff provided us a fan for our stay. No on-site laundry either.
Overall, I would book again for the location and ONLY if i could find the stay at a discount.

This is my second stay. I didn't make any special requests, but I was grateful for the corner room, so the noise wasn't an issue. The convenience store in the hotel has extended opening hours and is open until midnight, which is very convenient. There is a WOW Pass machine in the lobby, which was also very convenient and helpful. There is a Starbucks and Gong Cha within walking distance, which made my college-aged sons very happy.

I stayed until 2024.12.25-12.30.
(The best location)
The main way to get there was by bus, but there is a bus stop right in front of the hotel, which is convenient for getting to Myeongdong and Dongdaemun. The Holy Water area can be reached in about 20 minutes by subway, also in front of you. Hirokura Market is within walking distance. The proximity to the hotel seemed to be a popular gourmet spot for locals, and it was fun to find some delicious places on the NAVER map.
There is also a bus stop for Incheon Airport in front of the hotel. There seemed to be frequent buses.
(Japanese available for front desk staff)
At the front desk, they were available in Japanese. I don't understand Korean at all and English is broken, so I was very grateful. Every time I walked in front of the front desk, I saw them dealing with Japanese people.
The building next door to the hotel had Greek yogurt shops and an unbranded burger, Tootsam Place. It's all touch-panel, so even if you don't understand the language, you can still get by! I couldn't go there this time, but there is Starbucks.
I would also like to use it for my next trip to Korea.

We went there in November and stayed for 6 days.
We arrived 35 mins earlier than the check in time but we were hoping that we could check in earlier. Upon consulting the hotel staff, the room was available but he said we would have to pay 10,000 won for checking in 35 mins earlier which we found it to be unbelievable and ridiculous, considering the room was ready already and the hotel lobby was filled with lots of impatient guests. As a 4-star hotel, they could had at least be more accommodating and not charge us anything for checking in 35 mins earlier while the room was already ready.
In addition, whilst the location of the hotel is awesome (with 2 metro stations nearby) and the room was spacious, the room itself was very stuffy with poor ventilation. With the air-conditioner disabled, we tried to solve this issue by opening the Windows as suggested by the hotel staff. However, to our surprise, opening the windows did not improve the ventilation at all. We ended up having to resort to getting a fan from the hotel staff. As a 4-star hotel, we have higher expectation to the quality of the room which includes its ventilation and it is hard to believe that we need to resort to getting a fan to solve the issue.
Lastly, it is a known fact that it is extremely hard to get a taxi if we are just hailing without booking it in Seoul. We were trying to get a taxi but since we are not able to use the local taxi hailing app, we tried to seek assistance from the hotel staff but got blanked out completely which left us feel very unhelpful and unprofessional, leaving a stain in our experience with this hotel.

Staff very friendly and professional. Good location .
My room was clean but looked tired. Beds not great. The bath had cigarette burns and kettle had burn marks on socket .
Breakfast was uninspiring and extra cost so passed it by .
Weekend rate much more expensive than advertised rate. I think tour companies paying alot less.

Feeling let down by Hotel Kukdo because of Mr. SK Lee's terrible attitude. He was so rude and reckless, it made my stay a total bummer.
Not to mention, my room is also always leaking.... both the bathtop and the basin.
Step up your game, guys! 😔

Very average hotel. Sterile lobby with very little seating. In a more industrial area (lighting & tile stores). No where to get snack/coffee other than paying $15 (CDN) for a full breakfast (average). Rooms are good, thin walls. Nice staff.
