My partner and I stayed at this business hotel for 5 nights. The hotel is situated close to Apgujeong station, about a straight 10 minute walk from exit #3. Easy to find. Hotel is on the left side. We booked a standard double through Agoda for about $80ish per night.

Room - clean, wall-mounted television (watch out for the porn channel), comfortable bed (harder than usual but I prefer this), bidet toilet, non-steamed mirror, good shower. Bring your own shampoo, toothbrush and toothpaste as these items are only provided upon payment. In-room wifi connection was fast and never cut out. LAN cable is also provided.

Location - close to pubs, popular club "Annex", convenience stores, bakeries (love paris baguette), 24-7 cafes, restaurants (including korean bbq), 'rodeo street' and plastic surgery clinics. The hotel is located a few train stops away from all the hustle and bustle of Seoul.

Staff - most spoke english well, helpful, attentive and professional.

Services are nice, but customers have to pay extra more to have breakfast(around 13000won)
Though people there don't speak english very well, they'll try to understand what you want:)

After spending quite some time looking for a hotel
for my 4 days stay in Seoul, I decided to make a reservation
at the Sunshine hotel for a promotional rate advertised at $95 US. Atter spending 14 hours on the plane, 90 minutes on the
airport express bus, and walking 30 minutes to find the place,
I arrived at the hotel only to find out they were sold out and would not honor my reservation.

At first, they told me that they had no record of my reservation.
When I showed them my printed comfirmed reservation,
I was asked to speak to another receptionist who finally
pulled out the exact same confirmation sheet I was holding,
and decided to simply apologize for overbooking the hotel.

The sad thing was that for the 20 minutes I spent in the lobby,
3 guests were able to check-in without any problems.
The only difference between my and their resevations was
that they were being charged $110/night (VS my $95)

If you want your Seoul vacation to start well, DO NOT take a chance booking at the Sunshine Hotel in Seoul.

Most uncomfortable stay for years I had was in this hotel. Location is bad, it is good only when taking a day tour to DMZ North Korea border as highway access is near from this hotel. All sights are far away, area where hotel is situated offers only steep priced restaurants and bars; e.g. 25USD for Italian pizza, what?

Receptionist was rude and yelling towards my face during check out, as if I was making too much work for her to be billed out of this hotel. Issue was minibar together into bill or separate. I did not use minibar anyway, so why all the yelling? Very Chinese way and unacceptable way to treat a customer, I just acted polite all the way to the end towards her.

Room cleaning is bad. There were black hairs in pillows, sheet, on towels. I wiped tables with antiseptic towel and discovered the dark black dirt on all tables even in bathroom.

Constant music beat is easily heard to fifth floor.

Room amenities with a fee.

Smell from sewer came to room every time when I opened the window. No air-conditioning! It was October and very hot in room, resulting bad sleep comfort every night.

Bed is hard, and it is narrow queen size bed which is suitable only for solo sleeping, keep this in mind if booking this hotel. Thin pillows.

I don´t know what this hotel management thinks about their product, this is not the place to be. Right place to be for me is very near, south area of Gyeongbok temple. There are all you need in that area.

I do not recommend this hotel nor this area.

I was in Seoul for a couple of weeks and stayed in 3 rooms all on the same floor, switching because the 1st room was due for pest spraying; the 2nd for an afternoon until they asked me to move to the 3rd for an unexplained reason [spraying?]. They were apologetic and gave me 2 welcome drink [tea or coffee] tickets and helped move my luggage the 2nd move, but not the 1st.

Pros:
[] Staff were moderately friendly;
[] The rooms were fine overall - not big by North American standards but not too small;
[] Toiletries were free - as expected for the rate, but some earlier reviewers had to pay;
[] Toiletries: shampoo, cond, body soap, body lotion, toothbrush/paste, comb, ear buds;
[] 2 complimentary 500mL bottles of water/day;
[] rooms had a small desk/chair in addition to bed, lounge chair and small table;
[] rooms were generally clean;
[] rooms had a kettle, a cold mini-fridge, and 2 instant coffee, 2-3 sugar and 2 Korean tea;
[] location is roughly 15 minutes walk to either Sinsa or Apgujeong subway stations;
[] several restaurants and a Mini Stop convenience store located across the street;

Cons:
[] there is a card one is asked to use regarding having the sheets changed. It states: "...sheets will not be changed only on the day you leave card on the bed." So, placed on the desk, for example, indicates you want the sheets changed. After verifying my understanding with the Front Desk, I found getting the sheets changed was hit and miss no matter where in the room I left the card. No matter what, somedays the sheets weren't changed when wanted.
[] Cleanliness: overall clean, but some days the toilet wasn't cleaned, other days, something was forgotten - bath mat, toothbrush, in-room coffee items resupply; the soap dish was rarely cleaned, and the glass holding my toothbrush wasn't cleaned for over a week.
[] the drawer with the coffee and cups is located _just_ under the desk, so it is an awkward reach to get at those items [as if the desk is an afterthought].
[] due to the hotels location, even on the top floor [7th] rooms are noisy and ear plugs are recommended. Previous reviewers mentioned the noisy nightclub - it was under renovation when I stayed in May, 2017. I hope the hotel adds another glaze or other soundproofing layer to windows.
[] the TV is mounted too low on the wall so viewing it while lying on your side in bed is difficult, and the English channels offered were few;
[] both the wifi router and a bedside control monitor glow too brightly at night, and the monitor also makes an odd bubbling sound, so if you need darkness to sleep, in addition to the aforementioned ear plugs an eye mask is a necessity.

Overall, I'd stay here again/recommend the hotel with the proviso one brings ear plugs and eye masks and keeps on top of housekeeping.

Was in Seoul, Korea last week and my group was booked in Hotel Sunshine in the Gangnam district. Locationwise it was a bit far from myeungdong and other shopping areas and places of interest so a taxi is the way to go. If you're with a tour then transportation wont be a problem.
Took a stroll at night to explore the surrounding area; aside from the bars and plastic surgery clinics around, i found a Starbucks, Gongcha, several convenience stores and a gem of a grocery store named JH mart which was open 24 hours and where you can buy everything like chips, Lotte Peppero, chocolates, nori, noodles and soju to take back home. You have to cross the main intersection at the back of the hotel to get to this one and walk a block more.
Our room on the 3rd was small and clean. No view from the window and we could faintly hear the karaoke singers from the club nearby. Bed was ok with fluffy covers but the pillows were small and flat. Toiletries were for sale so best to bring your own. The toilet had a digital bidet which was fairly easy to use, just look at the illustrations on the buttons. Free unlimited wifi in the room! Housekeeping comes in every morning to tidy up even if you dont tell them to.
Breakfast at the Sunshine cafe is the same every day and they have BACON! I liked the Korean porridge and the steamed dumplings. Of course, theres always Kimchi.
I havent had much interaction with the hotel staff because we had a tour guide but they seemed polite.
For tourists who spend most of their days out exploring seoul, this is a fairly good hotel to come back to after the long day.

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon for 3 weeks. I would recommend you request an upper level (we stayed on the 6th floor) because it is a lot more quiet. There is a popular club in the annex of this hotel building and can get a little noisy and busier on the weekends as a result so to be on the safe side a higher floor would steer you clear of any noise and nuisances. Our stay was very comfortable and was like a home away from home. The staff were friendly, our room was very clean and free of any bedbugs (which I'm anal about), had a bidet in the bathroom, everything was controlled electronically by a touch pad screen near the bed, be careful of free adult channels on the tv if traveling with kids, good location to get taxis and for restaurants/shopping, free internet cord in room, ask for special outlet plugs if traveling from outside of asia (we came from the U.S), our pkg didn't include free breakfast but they do offer buffet style breakfast downstairs which is decent. Overall, we were very pleased and satisfied and had an awesome time in Seoul. I recommend taking advantage of the tour packages available in the lobby of the hotel.

I stayed in Hotel Sunshine during my visit to South Korea in November 2013 for the Thanksgiving break. I was there for a night before my flight to Jeju Island. I found the Hotel Sunshine a comfortable hotel. The guest room is clean and equipped with ample toiletries. It has free wireless internet, breakfast, with fridge in the room, cable television, modern and clean bathroom. In addition, the hotel is located in Kangnam-gu district close to several restaurants and attractions including Olympic Stadium and National Museum of Contemporary Art. Based on my experience, I recommend Hotel Sunshine when visiting Seoul, South Korea.

I'd read some bad reviews about this hotel but thankfully the more recent ones were positive so I decided to give it a go. I wasn't disappointed. It was about a 10 minute walk from Apgujeong subway station, straight up the street from exit 3. No worries about having to find a non-existent signpost for a side street as it's clearly visible on the left hand side just before the first major junction.

The reception was marble, looking respectable and clean. Friendly and English speaking staff made checking in easy. I had a double room and the bed was the most comfortable I've had in a hotel. The room was clean and of a decent size, equipped with a large, wall-mounted TV. Oddly though the shower room was fitted with a window/blind combination rather than a dividing wall so if the blind is not pulled down anybody in the bedroom can see what happens in the bathroom. Great for those with small children and for those who don't want to miss a minute of a sporting event!

It's about a 5/10 minute taxi ride to Gangnam metro station, costing between 4 and 5000 won.

I didn't see any of the seedy goings on that were referred to in an earlier post, but if it is true then at least the place is well-known to taxi drivers. I had no problem in taking a taxi to the hotel from Gangnam.
