I had a really good experience at DW motel as it was my first time in Palau for work. It was clean, the staff were helpful and the WiFi was good. The bed was also comfy especially after travelling for more than 56 hours.

DW motel was better than some hotels and very good value for money. There is a kitchen available for all hotel guests to use as well as laundry and drier. There was also free filtered water available. They also have airport services if needed. Highly recommend this motel to anyone and would stay again for my next visit to Palau.

While on an island hopping tour I booked this hotel for the price and location. I received great communication from the hotel and they were able to arrange my pickup from the airport. My room was ready, even despite arriving at 2am in the morning. Sure the rooms are old, but its a place to lay your head. Each room has A/C, a desk and a small fridge. Is it the Hilton? No, but it fit exactly what I need and the owners were more than hospitable. If you’re in Palau, I recommend DW Motel.

My fiance and I stayed at the DW for about 6-7 days around New Year's 2006. We arrived around 8pm in Koror and were meant to stay at the North Beach Cottages our first night, but we were advised to stay in Koror and attempt the long, confusing drive through Babeldaob in the morning. They set us up at the DW for the night, and the family-run establishment was super-friendly to us, putting us in their largest room. Someone from the motel will pick you up and drive you to the airport. Car rental agencies will drop off and pick up your car at the motel.

After our 2-night stay at North Beach Cottages (which ended 1 day early due to booking confusion), we headed back to Koror to do some diving. We already booked at DW Motel, but showing up a day early, they had no problem and apologized that the biggest room wasn't available again, but would move us there the next day. The rooms are simple but comfortable, and we had plenty of space. The rooms we stayed in didn't have TVs, but the two-story motel has an open-air TV lounge with plenty of cable stations on the 2nd floor for guest use. We found it more than enough for our needs. The lounge also has coffee, tea, and water available. The bathrooms looked kind of like they were falling apart, but worked. We originally planned on spending a couple days in Peleliu, but changed our minds and stayed at the DW and did some more diving. We did our Open Water course and a Rock Islands kayak tour with Sam's Tours, who I highly recommend, by the way. They are professional, reputable, popular with American tourists, and we had a lot of fun at their Bottom Time bar after returning from a dive day. There was a problem with the credit card machine when we were leaving, so we had to go to the ATM and pay in cash.

The motel is within a 5-10 minute walk from a number of cafes and restaurants; you can get to most restaurants/shops in Koror within 15-20 mins. Take a taxi to Malakal or anywhere crossing a causeway is involved. It wasn't ever more than US$7.

Essentially, we were on a budget for our backpacking-ish 2-week trip, and the DW Motel was very appropriate for what we wanted. It seems that in Palau, hotels fall into the hundreds-of-dollars range, the $100 range, and the $50-60 range, with very little sub-$50. The DW fell into the $50-60 range, and I wouldn't need anything more.

We stayed one night, they had a Bratz tv, no hot water, the room was dirty and the bed was like sleeping on a rock. I've never had a more uncomfortable sleep. The neighbours, owners and staff were sitting outside our room on a balcony drinking and yelling until the earling hours in the morning.

The next day we found new accomodation and when we tried to move our bags out and pay for the night, the manager held our baggage hostage and tried to make us pay a $450 cancellation fee otherwise he said he would call the police and they'd put us in jail. We ended up giving him $300 and we went to see the Palau Visitors Authority who told us we shouldn't have paid, they ripped us off and the police would have helped us because all the locals know that their motel is crap but there was nothing we could do.

Very unhappy.

We stayed here for six nights the end of September 2013. We tried to find a "beach" hotel but due to Palau's Independence Day celebration they were all sold out. This hotel is located on Koror Island within walking distance of restaurants, grocery stores, and shopping down a quiet street off the main road. Beach hotels were going for $220 -$260 a night while we paid just under $100 for three adults. The motel was very-well cared for, had comfortable beds, and the air-conditioning worked perfectly. the shower was also a plus as there was no water heater and we never ran out of HOT water. The motel offered transfer service from the airport for $15 per person, which was a nice option. I would recommend renting a car due to the island's amenities are not concentrated to one area.

The motel's staff was very helpful and informative. They gave us suggestions on day trips as well as restaurant opportunities. They always gave us extra towels also, which was nice as we drove to area beaches.

Later on our trip as we searched for local beaches for swimming and snorkeling, we only noticed a couple of hotels that even had beach access. As a matter of fact there are not many, if any, public beaches at all. This was a little discouraging. We ended up driving 30-40 miles north on the east side of the island to get to some snorkeling opportunities. So if you are looking for hotels with beaches, do your homework. If not, this hotel will suit you well.

The DW Motel is just off the Main Street in Koror; offering quiet accommodations within walking distance of several restaurants and day tour operators. The motel was recently updated/refurbished and is clean and well organized. The rooms are basic with minimal amenities (no TV or radios), and with no activities on the grounds. I stayed in two separate rooms during my travels and both were comparable with excellent air conditioning (which is a must for the Palauan tropical climate). The motel advertises internet service for purchase on an hourly rate, but I chose to purchase internet service at some local restaurants as it was a bit cheaper. Many tour companies will deliver and pick-up guests from the motel (Aggressor Fleet, Neco Tours, IMPAC Tours, Sam's Tours). There are several beachside resort hotels on the island with many more amenities, but at a considerably higher price. Based on what I experienced and discussions I had with other travelers, I believe that while basic the DW Motel is overall a good value accommodation.

Came to conduct a workshop, stayed for a family reunion. 13 members of our family stayed here from Chicago, Taiwan, Honolulu, San Antonio, San Diego, and Guam ranging in ages from 83 year old grandmother to 18 year old granddaughter. The rooms are clean and comfortable (whimsical touch - towels were folded origami style - as various sea creatures!) No phones or TV's. Loved that about it. wake up to birds call every morning and if one is acute, you'll catch the fruit bats making their way out into the night. comfortable lounge downstairs, equipped kitchen to heat your noodles or make your breakfast. washers and dryers to take care of your laundry. Masa, Miki, Ai, Marie and Noel made it feel like home.walking distance to Rock Island Cafe, Coffee Beanery, Surangel, Taj, Fuji, Belau Art Gallery, Etpison Museum, Palau National Museum, Rip Tide, etc. We wanted to try the bikes, but not enough time. Definitely recommend even if you're not coming for a dive trip to the Rock Islands. Enough to just come and see the Rock Islands!

The DW is cheap by Koror standards.
It is a great place to base yourself for diving.
I liked it a lot, it has that laid back feel more in the style of South East Asia. We stayed in 4 different hotels in Koror and this was my favourite. It does what it says on the tin. Great facilities, clean and cheap.
I have seen reviews that complain about the noise but this hotel was not as noisy as other more expensive hotels we stayed in. Flight times to Koror are bad so pretty much all the hotels have guests leaving in the early hours of the morning, many Asian guests lack the sensitivity of Europeans when it comes to sleeping. So be prepared to have some tolerance for cultural differences or travel with earplugs like me. 😀

This is probably the cheapest hotel on Palau, so you might as well stop there and book :)

Now, only mentioning the budget is underselling this place. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful (the manager is a japanese lady), the rooms are simple but spotlessly clean, there's airco, a fridge and a shared kitchen, what more do you need?
Another big bonus is the location: it's really in the center of Koror, but in a small street about 500m off the main road, so while Koror has 24/7 traffic jams for some weird reason, you'll never lose any sleep over them.

This is the type of affotdable hotel you will find in Palau. It is very expensive what you get is a big room wih ac and a toilet with shower is clean and nice but basic no tv no wifi. You can use a small kitchen but the price will be arround 110$, US $ or 100€ at least. If you need a late check out is 10$ more per hour. So you better rent a car it is half the price and you cam wait at the airport and save the money of the taxi.
