The Sydney Hotel is the best place for backpackers and budget travelers that are seeking a memorable and safe stay in Amman away from the noise but minutes on foot to all major touristic site, local restaurants and shops such as the Romain Theater, Citadel, Hashem Restaurants and the famous Rainbow street. The hotel provide a smoke free environment which is hard to find in Amman, 24 hour assistance, tours and packages, free high speed WIFI, a spacious communal area where you can meet other travelers and a cozy backyard area. Most rooms have private bathrooms, flat screens with satellite channels, minibar and self controlled A/C system... The rooms with balconies are the best.

The people I encountered were relatively interesting and I said I would write a TripAdvisor review. Clean room and decent breakfast. However, when coming back in the evening, the code was changed without letting us know. Since no one was there, we had to wait for approx 1 hour outside until by chance one of the guests heard us. Mild inconvenience, but willing to overlook. However, when we wanted to bring the organisation to attention that this system might not be bulletproof, we were treated rather rude and sarcastically by the girl at the reception. Pity, since overall the accommodation was okay.

Hello Viktor, We regret that you had such experience with us. The door code gets changed to maintain the safety of all guests. Sometimes things happen where we are forced to change it immediately and it is not possible to inform all guests, specially when you are outside. What we do is leave a note on the door to inform you that the code is changed so you can ring the bell. We have 24/7 a person on duty so waiting for 1 hour outside I think is not possible. We admit that sometimes the receptionist is maybe in the bathroom or fixing something but the bell is heard from all over and again, 1 hour is exaggerated I think. I really loved this place. The location is amazing as it is 2 minutes walk from the famous Hashem restaurant and the wonderful downtown shopping district. It's super quiet and peaceful considering its proximity to everything and as it's a short walk from everywhere you don't need a taxi to explore the district as you can reach everything easily on foot. The place was super clean, the staff are really amazing right down to the cleaners and breakfast staff everyone was friendly, helpful and warm. You kind of expect this in Jordan and in the middle east more generally and you have never experienced hospitality unless you have travelled in this region but I really felt at home here, so much that I kind of wanted to extend my stay. The breakfast is excellent with plenty of choices, sweet and savoury, to please everyone. There is lots of good information available in reception and the showers always had plentiful hot water. I would highly recommend this place for location, helpful staff and a homely atmosphere. I also had the good fortune to make some new friends and some really happy memories. We stayed here for five nights using this as a base to explore Jordan by car. We paid JD 32 per night for the deluxe room which was quite big with a decent bed. However the bathroom is a bit small and basic. Tea and coffee facilities are available in the common area but you do need to pay for it (except at breakfast time). The breakfast provided was quite good with a selection of cheeses, olives, pita bread, cucumber, tomato, jam, coffee and tea. Generally I would say the hotel caters more to backpackers than tourists. Internet was a bit patchy but this is not unusual in this part of the world. It is located quite close to the downtown area and good restaurants and shops can easily be found. If you have a hire car, it can be very difficult to find a park on the street as they do not have any parking available at the hotel and it is in a busy area. I would say give this place a go if you want a decent basic room in a good location.…

Sydney hotel is a very excellent choice , you can guarantee a great accomodation , with very clean rooms and great service . Especially a warm welcome from Bassam and the guys over there . The hotel is right in the middle of the old town and is close to all shops nearby in heart of Amman. The rooms are clean , the hotel is safe with their security cameras and their locked coded doors. They strive hard to give you the best experience. Bassam is always there to help with anything needed , from directions around town to a great conversation to anything tou pretty much need. This will definitely not be my last time due to the great experience i had in jordan from the locals and from the hotel crew whom make it a very enjoyable stay. You definitely will not regret it and this place is great because of its employees and their professionalism. Enjoy your stay as i have .
