Spent 3 nights here. The location is great! It's just inside Jaffa Gate very convenient to all the sites in the Old City. The visitor information center is a block away, and the free walking tours leave from there, too. The best part was the staff. With visitors in and out day after day, they could become jaded or bored. But they were extremely helpful with advice and information. Highly recommended.

This hotel is extremely well placed for the old city being almost next to the Jaffa gate. You can't park a coach there so the staff will take your luggage the 200m from the parking - or you can roll the cases yourself. The small courtyard is ideal for sitting outside whilst the bar area is quite atmospheric and a pleasant place to be, situated under old stone arches. They are refurbishing rooms at the moment so there is some building work although this is not problematic. However there are only 2 lifts and one was out of action during our stay which caused delays. Our room on the 1st floor was small and dingy with the bathroom having seen better days with mould around the shower. I did not see one of the refurbished rooms but a friend staying in one could not get the heating to work and was very cold. We spoke to reception on her behalf and the response was not helpful at all. The dining rooms are modern but there was a hole in the ceiling in one of them. They are sterile places to eat and the food was bland. I suspect the hotel mainly caters for large tours. I will not stay there again.

We are in our third day of our four day stay at the Gloria-Hotel. Absolutely beautiful hotel lobby area. Told it was once a Greek Hospital. The staff is extremely friendly, professional, and eager to help above and beyond. Rooms were of adequate size, clean, in good working order and the beds were comfortable. Our first floor faced an elementary school but could only hear from bathroom open window. Housekeeping is excellent. Getting your laundry done is extremely affordable. The air conditioner works great. The buffet was very good if your not a picky eater. Breakfast regional. So don’t expect any emphasis on eggs. You get a healthy vegan spread, with deliciously prepared fruits and vegetables, oatmeal, and hard boiled eggs. There’s assorted fresh juices, coffees, cheeses and breads, and desserts. Cost about 194 Shekels, that’s about 57$,€. We also had breakfast at a coffee house around the corner with an omelette, bacon, fries, flat bread, hummus, cappuccino, juice for 66$,€. No seconds. So the buffet is good value for the cost compared to other places. Same goes for the dinner buffet. It was delicious. They have a good wine selection. The hotel lobby and outdoor patio are awesome hangout places. They make you feel like your in a movie.
A little advice to young people wishing to document every scintilla of you trip, don’t. Just don’t. Put down you camera phones, and recorders. And just take in the experiences. People come from all over the world and extremely social, friendly, and curious. Ignore the hawkers pushing sales. If you want to fully appreciate the holy temples and ancient sites, I highly recommend you get up at dawn to beat the throngs. Shalom!

We had a terrific stay in the Gloria Hotel. I cannot think of a better location for exploring the Old City - there is no substitute for being within the city walls. Staff were very attentive, the rooms were spotless, and it has one of the best breakfasts in the city. You can enjoy all the amenities of a world class hotel in a beautiful structure that evokes the history of your surroundings. From our room we also enjoyed a great view of the Old City walls and Jerusalem beyond.

I have stayed in many hotels in Jerusalem and just discovered my favorite hotel, The Gloria. It is a small boutique style hotel in a historic building in the Latin Patriarch right inside Jaffa Gate. It located on a quiet side street, a respite from the hustle bustle outside. If you want to feel you are in the Orient, the Gloria has an exotic ambience you will enjoy. There is a sultry bar and lounge that is beautifully decorated and can make you feel as if you are in "Ricks Place." The location is absolutly awesome. You are steps away from the Moslem, Christian & Armenian Quarters of the Old City. Steps away from the New Mamilla Outdoor Mall, 15 minute walk from the New City and Jewish Quarter. The hotel has been recently tastefully remodeled. There is a pleasant dining room and outdoor patio to have breakfast. The staff was polite and helpful. The beds were comfortable. My room and bathroom were small but there were two wooden cabinets for large suitcases and an area underneath where you could store items, which was nice. In addition there was a large wooden closet with shelves. There is an elevator and laundry service. Some rooms open to a central gardened area. There is a pharmacy, cafe, restaurants, mini markets and money changer right down the street. The Tower of David Museum and the Wall Ramparts are right outside your door. Everything was clean, we felt safe and in the center of everything you come to Jerusalem to see. A very romantic place to stay.

We stayed at Gloria Hotel for 5 nights on our Orthodox Pilgrimage. Before our arrival i had doubts about the place since most of places that we have visited have nothing to do with their pictures and reality is disαppointing. But this didn't happen with Goria. The location is perfect, inside the old city and close to every place that you want to visit. On our arrival they had a cool drink to wellcome us, and believe me it was exactly that we needed. The rooms were quality decorated and very clean, made every day and towels changed every day (i mention this because they don't do it even at 5 stars hotels). The breakfast and generally the restaurant, was no excess the best. Clean, variety of dishes, enough food and many choices for fast or vegan. The staff was kind and available at any time to help us. Anna at the reception was very friendly and smily, she helped us a lot with information about her country. Jemale΄s willingnes to help with our heavy suitcases was really kind, and of cource the pastry chef, i asked for his name, they said George i think. His variety of sweets were the reward after an exhausting day trip in desert. This hotel was perfect in all ways , and this is an opinion of many of our group friends, we were 44 people, the most of us talked about it every day, all impressed from the perfect location, the excellent food and the friendly staff . I would like to thank them for making our stay comfortable, beautiful and suitable to our religious trip. We will definitely recommend this hotel to our friends and wish God allow us to visit them again.

My room was spacious with a brilliant ensuite. Enjoyed the coffee and tea that was laid on for an early morning cuppa. Air conditioning made the room wonderful. Service was friendly and efficient. Breakfast room at the hotel was inviting and a wonderful array of
of meals were displayed.
Can definitely recommend this hotel for tourists who wish to be close the sites of Old Jerusalem.

The Gloria was acceptable for our church tour group. The location is good, there is a meeting room (be sure to turn on the heat), and the buffet food is good, if not great. We had no trouble with WiFi, the bedding was clean, housekeeping good. The hotel needs to attend to maintenance. Some bathroom doors do not close properly, and disposable bathroom cups are not replaced. There was some renovation going on, so the lobby/bar area was freezing the first two days we were there. Be prepared for tour groups and communal buffet dining.

The gloria Hotel is a great place to see the sacred places in the old city of Jerusalem. It is located just inside the Jaffa Gate, so it is less than a 10-minute walk from the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, and is close to many other special places mentioned in scripture.
It is an old building, but is maintained well, and even its age seems more appropriate for a pilgrimage to the ancient sites.

The staff is very helpful and friendly.

A great spot if you’re looking for comfort and service in the Old City. Right next to Jaffa Gate, up a quite street, with a nice restaurant serving up good breakfasts and dinners. This place hosts many groups, but it also welcomes individuals and families. Have a drink before dinner in the bar or take it to the courtyard. The service here is attentive and warm. If Jamal is on shift during your stay, you’ll see what I mean!

Is there an ATM in the lobby or nearby the Gloria hotel?
Answer from AussieKaren101
Dubbo, Australia43 contributions9 helpful votes
There is not an ATM at the hotel. There are money exchange / withdraw booths very close but I believe they do take a percentage of your withdrawal. Alternatively if you go out the Jaffa gate and cross the road there is a modern shopping center and you should find one there.

Hi - I also had no issue in my room with the type C2 prong adapter and agree with previous response that a small power strip would provide additional re-charging options. ENJOY your stay - a lovely hotel with warm welcoming staff!!
