Spent 3 nights to celebrate a special anniversary . It was absolutely everything we’d hoped it would be . Service was amazing starting with Ron , who greeted us , brought us to our room , gave a history tour of this fascinating hotel , got us a cab etc . Breakfast must be eaten at the lush King David buffet ! Pool was magnificent, you truly felt whisked away to a lush tropical paradise . Room amenities were gracious … really a perfect experience . We WILL be back !

Two of us spent four nights in a mini suite of this classic hotel now celebrating its ninetieth year in business. We stayed just after Israel opened up to individual tourists and found that the property had resumed the highest level of hospitality and comfort. This mini suite would pass for the presidential suite in many properties. The living room was of good size with a comfortable sofa, a desk working surface equipped with local power, and guest seating. A particular feature was the very modern lighting, air conditioning, housekeeping signaling, and drapes switching systems which provided the simplest of methods of controlling one’s environment. The bedroom had the most comfortable of beds, while the bathroom was equally accessible from both - with sliding doors providing separation, privacy, and noise reduction among the three rooms and the foyer. The bathroom was narrow and long not providing easy access to the lavatory (with bidet) and rainhead shower when one of the twin sinks was in use. The bathroom was well equipped with quality amenities and there was a refrigerator (with complimentary soft drinks) and coffee/tea maker. All the front, food and beverage, and housekeeping staffs were amiable, proficient and solicitous of ones well being. The service standard was the highest with one exception - failure to uniformly enforce the much advertised code of face masks to be worn at all times by guests when not eating or drinking. Too often we found groups of individuals seated in the lobby/lounge and bar areas, walking the hallways, and using the elevators without face covering. Access to the property is by a narrow driveway which does lead to blockages while vehicles are waiting or being loaded or unloaded. But having said all that we had the finest stay in the very top group of all the world class, grande hotels at which we have stayed over the past many years.

How wonderful to return to Israel after not being able to travel for over a year due to Covid-19. Just returned from a 10 night stay in our home away from home! The King David remains the only luxury property to stay in within Jerusalem with a historic past and maintaining its old world elegance. It is always refreshing to enter the hotel and the dining room to be greeted by the same staff, Hany, in particular in the dining room , who has been there for decades. They are professional and go out of their way to please all of the guests. There was no fear of Covid-19 as all areas of the common spaces were repeatedly sanitized and the staff were all masked. When choosing a room be sure to request an Old City view. Jeremy from the Concierge staff was most helpful to assist us in obtaining the needed PCR test prior to leaving Israel. Markat & Mohammed at the front desk provided assistance both prior to and during our stay. Michal in the banquet department and Meirav in reservations met with us and are assisting us in planning a family Bar Mitzvah. We can't wait to return!

I gave a five stars rating even though our stay was not perfect.

Positive:
1. A beautiful historical hotel. For some people the decor may seem dated. For me the decor is still as beautiful as it was 80 years ago.
2. It is centrally located within walking distance to the Old city and the mall.
3. Best breakfast buffet I have ever seen in comparison to 5 stars hotels I have stayed throughout the world.
4. Excellent doorman, porters, restaurant servers and the front desk.
5. Excellent turn down services with daily surprises of snacks. Love the chocolate dipped strawberries and daily chocolates.
6 A beautiful bar with a superb bartender. I think his name is Daniel.... could be wrong.

Negative:
1. The rooms are very small for the price.
2. We had 3 rooms. One room’s shower door doesn’t close. One room had leaking shower that had water all over the toilet area.
3. Concierge is a hit and miss. A hotel concierge is there to assist and address the guests with anything issues we may have. Amit was great and resolved my issue with the car services from the airport to the hotel prior to our arrival. I seldom do this, but the hotel management needs to retrain one particular concierge with the name of Txxxr(didn’t want to spell out his name) He doesn’t care about his function. He didn’t bother to inform us that when we canceled the New Year’s eve dinner would result in 50% penalty fee. He also forgot to book our 7am car service from the hotel to the airport. This concierge is ruining King David Hotel’s impeccable reputation.

This hotel is a five star hotel, unfortunately, one bad employee would ruin its reputation. Nevertheless, I do recommend this hotel if this is your first visit to Jerusalem! Everyone should experience this historical, beautiful and elegant hotel.

Due to Corona, the hotel was offering selected nights at reasonable rates, comparable to Luxury Spa Hotels in the country. This is the King David, the pinnacle of old world taste and accommodations with attentive staff around you at all times. Corona considerations began from check in a sitting room with refreshments (not at a counter), continued with "High Tea" in the afternoon that included scones, delectable mini cakes and tea or coffee. The rooms are as classic as it gets in Israel, with wooden floors and generous space in the room, as well as a view of the Old City of Jerusalem. Breakfast was fully served by staff that waited for our slightest nod or request and was delicious as well as varied and filling. If classic settings are what you are looking for, this is THE place in Israel.

The plus of this hotel is its long hystory and his location, right in front of old Jerusalem and at walking distance from the Jaffa Gate of the old town.
I reccomend booking a high floor room with view on the Old Town.
I also reccommend to take the free guided tour of the hotel although it is at an inconvenient time (14:30) if you are planning to do something outside the hotel during the day.
If you are there in the right days (Friday and Saturday) I also reccommend the free two hours tour of the new city and the old town with the archeologist Haim Cohen, very knowledgeable and nice person.
We were upgraded at arrival to a nice mini-suite with view on the old town.
The hotel has a very nice and clean big swimming pool with water heated at 29 C, but be careful, they close access to it at 4:00 pm and do not let you stay even if you accept to be without a life guard.
Unfortunately the service is in general quite poor and for sure below what you would expect at an hotel of this class.
First of all the concierge is mostly useless (We talked with different employees at the desk but the level was similar) The typical answer is “don’t know I am not from here”.
Luckily we were able to get good advice on restaurants and places to see from the archeologist and from a local guide we hired.
I was also surprised that the doormen do not really help you to get a taxi that is not trying to rip you off, they let you at the mercy of taxi drivers that regularly refuse to use the meter and try to charge you too high fares. I never experienced such a beaviour in any other hotel of this class.
The nice mini-suite had a few small maintenance problems, they were quite visible but we had to report them to have them fixed. Unfortunately also after the reparing it was not possible to take a shower without flooding the bathroom.
The room service is not very accurate, the coffee station was cleaned and replanished only after we asked for it, the coffe machine and the water boiler were never cleaned in the 4 days we were there.
Some consumable in the bathroom were replenished only after we asked for it.

A note on the saturdays: a note near the bed warns you that for religious reasons on saturday you will not be served hot dishes at breakfast. This was in fact true: no warm milk and no toasted bread. For a misterious but lucky circumstance hor water was instead available so at least I could get a tea. With all due respect to all religions, I wonder if a hotel which charges you an average of 700$ per night could not set up a separate breakfast room to accomodate the needs of International visitors.

In summary, if you go to this hotel you will enjoy the location and the history but be prepared that the service will not be what you may be used to in other International hotels of the same price level.

Dear Mr. Stefano, Thank you very much for taking the time to leave a review of your stay with us at The King David Hotel. We are delighted that you enjoyed your beautiful upgrade. Your maintenance and housekeeping comments have been passed to the relevant departments for their immediate attention. Our wonderful and professional Concierge Department are very experienced and indeed service-oriented. Hand-chosen and trained by our famous Concierge Manager, even if the answer to a question is unknown, the Concierge will leave nothing unturned until they find the best answer. The King David Hotel is a strictly Kosher hotel and adheres to the Kosher laws and policies supervised by the Jewish Rabbanut authority. Cooking, heating food is not permitted on the Shabbat and food is kept on hot plates and we have large urns to keep water hot for hot drinks. This is the case in every Kosher hotel including 5-Star properties and separate non-Kosher kitchens are not permitted. We do understand that this is not what you are used to, but this is a Jewish country and the Kosher rules, especially in the Holy City of Jerusalem, are enforced. That being said, we do everything possible to provide a great Food and Beverage Service in accordance with the Kosher laws. Part of the beauty of being in this beautiful and historical and indeed Holy city, is the privilege of being able to experience the beauty of the Jewish Shabbat in the most historical and luxurious hotel in the country. Dr. Chaim Cohen – The King David Hotel's official guide, historian and senior archeologist is indeed one of the finest guides in the country and we are delighted that you enjoyed your tour with him. Mr. Stefano, we do hope to have the opportunity in hosting you again at The King David Hotel, not only to enjoy the fascinating hotel tour, but also to experience luxury from a different perspective than you are used to. Kind Regards, Jeremy Guest Relations Manager

I stayed at the hotel for four days recently. The hotel is beautiful. The check-in was fairly quick despite the influx at the reception desk when we checked in. My room was great. It was a nice size for a single person. The bed and bedding were very comfortable. The room was clean with a desk with an coffee machine, complimentary treats in the refrigerator, welcome treats on the desk, and a nice clean bathroom. I ate at the breakfast buffet every day and the food was plentiful and delicious. There is an abundance of hot and cold foods. The hotel is close to the Old City so you can walk there and close to other sites in central Jerusalem. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would stay here again. However, I do have several suggestions that would be helpful:

There is no gluten-free bread/rolls/cereal at the buffet for those who can't eat gluten (rice crackers aren't really a good option).
The shower glass near the faucet leaks on to the floor when you shower and makes a huge puddle. My glass needed to be caulked.
I was near the service door on my floor and the room cleaners were super noisy in the morning. I could hear them and it woke me up.
The toilet doesn't flush all the time. I'm not sure if there was a water problem (I was on the first floor).
But great stay otherwise.

pros: the centrally located King David is perhaps one of the top hotels in all terms:
spacious rooms
all amenities you'd ask for
excellent service
staff is extremely friendly and helpful
everything is just perfect, no wonder worldwide leaders choose to stay here.

2 cons:
prices... Israeli hotels arent cheap to start with, and still this is one of the most expensive hotels
Friday's night dinner is served to the tables - so it is more classy, however kids always prefer the buffet with all the choices it offers

I stayed at the king David because of the history of the hotel. At the moment they have a historical tour of the hotel in English on Friday afternoon at 14:30, unfortunately we missed it but the night manager after dinner gave us a small tour of some of some of the rooms which was fantastic.

The service of the hotel was amazing, the day and night time managers were fantastic.

Friday night dinner was delicious, you ordered your food from a menu. The issues I found was that the waiter had no patience for us whilst we placed our order. It also took us to ask 3 times for salads to come on the table before they were brought out.

The rooms were very nice and we were upgraded to an old city room view from a new city view, though we discovered that one room was a lot bigger than the other one. The rooms had towels that were warmed, shaving kits, toothbrush kit. Water was provided as well.

Saturday morning breakfast was amazing, with fish, salads, different warm foods, the cheese cake was amazing and creamy. After breakfast is was recommended to do the guided tour of the old city, it was done in Hebrew and there were some English explanations. I wouldn't recommend doing this tour if you only understand English, as I felt that there were definitely pieces of information missing, the tour guide said that I wasn't missing information but I definitely was.

Breakfast on Sunday morning was nice and it was in a room that overlooked the garden. Once again you ordered from the menu, but you could also request for food not on the menu. They served salads, fish and cheese on the table.

Checkout was at 12 and I would say that it put a damper on my entire visit which I had really enjoyed until then. The person at reception was unfriendly and didn't have patience to explain the bill to us, it took a while to understand what had happened and that the vat is at the bottom of the page and not included on anything. I also mentioned about the room to him and he told me not to complain because I got an upgrade which I thought was unprofessional. This whole experience with him would make me question if I would stay again, even though everything else at the hotel was amazing.

So wonderful to be able to return to Jerusalem after a long lock down. It was very special to be back at the King David. We deeply appreciated the care and attention from the amazing staff team - nothing is ever too much trouble for them and in particular thank you to Ilana and her brilliant team (and thank you Jeremy). We were checked in by Karawe who I first think I met 26 years ago when staying in the KD on honeymoon (so a very professional experienced front desk ) Ilana's team went to extra effort to make sure were upgraded to a family suite in order to accommodate our 15 yr old son. Thank you. We value the brilliant location of the hotel - everything you want to see in Jerusalem is walkable from the King David and we love the incredible atmosphere in the lobby . The was a talented harpist playing in the late afternoons!
