2022 Travelers' Choice Best of the Best

Alegra boutique hotel-The hotel is located in a lovely and historic neighborhood in Jerusalem, called Ein Karem. In This magical area you can find many different activities: old churches, national parks, great restaurants, bars and more. It's only a 15 minute drive from the old city of Jerusalem, and the city center. In our hotel you can enjoy 7 decorated units, which 6 of them are suites. All of the rooms are equipped with satellite TV, AC, a king size bed, an espresso machine and a wireless internet connection. Our facility also offers a steam sauna, a cozy swimming pool, and beautiful gardens with lovely sitting areas. In addition we give a high standard service that includes valet parking and spa treatments. We also offer both breakfast and dinner, which are made by our well known chef, who you can read about in the text below. Alegra's Kitchen-Alegra's Kitchen is the hotel's restaurant. In the restaurant there are two options of sitting - a chef table and private tables. Our chef, Yaron Vinkler, is an experienced well known chef, whose culinary choices are influenced by the local growths and the authentic kitchen of both Israel and Jerusalem. The wonderful breakfast includes homemade breads and focaccias that are baked in a hot stone oven called a "Tabun". Shakshuka - a traditional Israeli egg dish poached in a sauce of tomatoes, onions, peppers and herbs, a vegetables Salad, a variety of cheeses and more. The chef's dinner is a special experience with 6-7 courses, which all are cooked in front of the guests in our open kitchen. The courses are put together from fresh ingredients that are found in the local market. Hot and cold drinks are included as well.

In one word fantastic. The hotel is on. Beautiful place, close to the city Center. The rooms are large , very clean and decorated very nicely. Staff is very pleasant. Have to mention especially the reception manager David that went beyond the call of duty to accommodate all our needs. Would strongly recommend this hotel. We will be back. Tge

Lovely hotel. Clean and spacy and well heated rooms. Only 14 rooms so no noisey kids. The staff were very courteous and friendly. Breakfast is excellent, tea and coffee are available all day, as well as fresh fruit and hot soup in the evenings. Parking is not available, but there is a parking lot about five minutes away. The only thing missing was a mirror over the sink.

I'm highly disappointed, so far from my expectations of a boutique hotel in such an amazing location (and a sister to Pereh hotel, up in the north). Stay away. There are so many alternatives in the area, and this one is not a place you would like to explore.

Alegra Hotel is beautiful and full of charm. The staff was really friendly, giving plenty of advices, helping us find a guide, making bookings for us in restaurants, etc. The breakfast was really delicious. We very much appreciated the warm welcome and highly recommend this place!

Arrived at the hotel on Friday, booked 3 nights and paid upfront when reservations was made two days prior to arrival. Added one night and then came down with Covid where I had to isolate in my room. Unfortunately, I had cold like symptoms and needed to rest and plenty of fluids; hotel staff treated me as if I had leprosy - when I called to ask about ordering dinner from an outside restaurant because they do not offer dinner service on property, they were extremely callus and rude and refused to help. They also didn’t offer to leave water, tea etc. outside the door in the afternoon and evening. To add insult to injury, they overcharged me. This establishment is uncaring, rude and unprofessional. I will never return, nor will I, as a travel industry professional, send any of my clients there.

I made a reservation and and paid for a deluxe room for 2 nights. When booking I specially asked for a room with no or few stairs. This was confirmed. On arrival my room was not available and I was shown a room that was only reachable via lots of stairs. I was given a second option of a deluxe room but this definitely not a deluxe but a standard. The manager insisted it was. With regards to the manager Amir. He was the most rude and unpleasant person I have come across in many years. In fact he was that horrendous that I really wanted to leave and go home. I asked to cancel my booking and he refused and wanted to charge me 2000 shekels for a sub standard room. All in all a terrible experience and I would not recommend the hotel to anyone.

l'll start with the ONLY redeeming features of this hotel which are the Ein Karem location, the lovely stone hotel building itself and the beautiful landscaped grounds. My husband and I were gifted a 2 night romantic stay in a "deluxe suite'" at the Alegra Boutique hotel Firstly, in my opinion, some of the photos of the rooms on the website are misleading and certainly misrepresent the reality of the rooms that we were offered. Also in my view, the high room price for our room was unjustified. On our arrival we didn't find the receptionist to be very warm or hospitable. She led us from the main building to an annexe and to a very small dingy room, overlooking a back street. I appreciate boutique hotels are quirky but this was ridiculously small, there was nowhere to put or hang our clothes. We were very disappointed and asked to change to a different room. This alternative room was in the main building and a little better but still very small, no closet space, cramped and poorly designed . The toilet/shower had an open glass partition separating it from the bed area so it wasn't very private. There was no shelf to place our toiletries except for on the window sill of the shower so they got wet. Secondly, I found the hotel staff to be unhelpful and arrogant, with a poor attitude. One example, our stay included a "chef meal" but since the pandemic, guests are compensated with a meal voucher at a local restaurant . We asked the receptionist the name and location etc of the restaurant she told us "look it up on Google", when we asked to have a written voucher, she said she didn't have an official one, so she took out a "post it " note and put the stamp on it. So amateurish and unprofessional. My husband complained to her about her attitude, then later she came to our room with the proper voucher and said" you don't talk like that to someone who is ill!" Two staff members at breakfast were pleasant but as a whole we felt that we were an inconvenience to the staff there. I feel so strongly about this negative experience which upset what should have been an enjoyable and pampering stay that I just had to share our experience. I have stayed in many hotels over the years but this was by far the most unwelcoming hotel I have ever been in.

Ein Karem is beautiful, but do yourself a favor and stay in another hotel ! I have booked the most expensive suite for the weekend. Unfortunately the room we got did not look like the room I had booked. When complaining at the reception, the person there told me it was a known problem but, the room I booked was already given to someone else. As it was already Friday afternoon and I did not want to let my wife down, I agreed to take the available room even though it was clearly not worth the price I paid, since I was promised that the person who was in charge, Amir, would compensate me with a discount. Amir who was at the reception when we checked out the next day, was found as a very rude person. He was shouting at me in front of other guests and his team that it was my responsibility to provide the room number when I made the booking... I was trying to explain I have selected a specific room with a certain picture that was looking completely different but in vain, and eventually, we left the hotel very frustrated.
