I stayed here for 2 nights in March 2023. The Herodian Hotel Bethlehem is a lovely family run hotel with commanding views of Bethlehem. The owner Elias is so warm and friendly and made us very welcome from the outset. We arrived in Bethlehem by bus from Jerusalem and Elias picked us up from the bus stop and dropped us straight at the hotel. This saved a 20 minute walk, so was amazing! When we arrived we met his family and went to the roof to see the views of the city. Elias and his whole family are extremely helpful and have great local knowledge. You can just WhatsApp them if you need any help. My apartment was amazing! There were two twin rooms, one with a twin bed and wardrobe and the other has a kitchen in, with a sink, fridge freezer, cutlery, kettle and teabags. There is a TV with satellite, good WIFI, a seating area and a desk. The balcony has stunning views over Bethlehem and is a great place to sit and relax. The bathroom has a shower, sink, toilet and toiletries to use. Be sure to head to the roof for a panoramic view of Bethlehem, there is a large dining area, courtyard with heaters and a TV. Various seating areas, a punch bag, weights and various gym equipment. There are swinging chairs, perfect for relaxing with a cup of tea, coffee or water which is available from the drinks machine. The location is excellent with the Church of the Nativity only a ten minute walk away. There are lots of shops nearby with restaurants and cafes a plenty. If you are looking to stay in Bethlehem I highly recommend the Herodian Hotel. An incredible family run hotel, who do everything they can to help you. A pleasure to stay, I only wish I could stay longer!

Really nice hosts. Clean rooms, great view from the balcony, 10 minutes walking to manger square, big bottle of water in the room. There isn't a manned front desk at all times so check in and check out really relies on you communicating with the hosts through WhatsApp or email.

The ‘Herodion Guesthouse’ in Bethlehem is situated in Al-Attan Street to the south-east of Manger Square. The building is a modern construction that overlooks both Bethlehem and the Muslim town of Bayt Sahur. Very important in Bethlehem is the distance one’s accommodation is from the main pilgrimage sites like the Church of the Nativity, the Chapel of St. Catherine and the Milk Grotto. In this regard the Herodion Guesthouse lies within walking distance; however, I caution that it takes about 10 to 15 minutes at a steady pace to reach Manger Square. If you are relatively fit, or if one wants to stroll casually, then the location is perfect, and we managed well. If you are elderly or physically impaired in some way, then perhaps not. However, a taxi could transport you to your destination within minutes. When we arrived in a hired car, we were met at the entrance and shown to the parking on the lower floor of the building. Entering and exiting the parking is confined and tricky, but if you can navigate the streets of Bethlehem you should manage. We were then escorted and helped with our luggage to our room and most graciously provided with coffee (which is always welcome when travelling). The building has an efficient lift and we had no problem reaching our floor. The passageway was not lit and we had difficulty unlocking our door as a consequence. The room was surprisingly well equipped, was spotlessly clean and had facilities that many guesthouses in Israel and Palestine do not have, namely a small refrigerator in the kitchenette, equipped with a kettle and tea and coffee. You will not believe how important this is to a pilgrim or tourist, especially late at night and early in the morning. Our beds were comfortable and the bedding was more than adequate. Our suite had a small balcony which we appreciated. The bathroom was modern and the shower produced ample hot water. The Wifi provided was more than adequate for our needs. I must state that you can also go up to the top floor of the building at any time where one can enjoy the expansive views and sip on some gratis coffee. Note that like in many locations in Palestine and in Israel, empty allotments and tatty spaces abound where one will see discarded sofas and building material that blight the view. Regardless, one is present to experience Bethlehem in its entirety - beauty spots and warts. The Guesthouse does not provide food, but you can ‘phone in to a local eatery and have it delivered or simply prepare your own in the kitchen located on the top floor. We made use of the local restaurants near Manger Square, but also brought food back where we prepared it in the kitchen. The owner and his son who speak English were very helpful and friendly and generously provided us with pastries in the morning. Yum! Thanks George senior and junior. The assistant that was present on two days did not have a good grasp of English which made for tricky communication and his mannerisms were at the least bizarre. At one point we feared we had offended him, but this might have been cultural. In conclusion – the ‘Herodion Guesthouse’ provided good value for money and we would certainly stay here should we make a return trip to Bethlehem.

No reception at hotel. I kept in touch with what's app and staff was waiting when I arrived at the hotel. Room was clean and wifi worked well. View from the room was beautiful and also view from the roof top was amazing. They offer free water, coffee at the roof top always, and they have a bar in the night there. It's not far from the hotel to the church of Nativity, however some slopes. Small supermarket is in front of the hotel. A bit large one is 200m with rapid slope. Very cozy hotel. I recommend it.

We spent two nights at the Herodion Guesthouse. It is family run and the hosts are so friendly and helpful. Make sure to add on the breakfast, it is a bargain and with more food than you can possibly eat. Plus you'll get to try local foods and the view is magnificent. Rooms are simple but adequate. The automatic blinds really block the light and most of the city noise. The room was clean and offers a fridge and a huge balcony. When we had a need, they fixed it right away. It's a bit of a walk up/down the hill to market square. That's the only drawback.

Amazing location, very close to the Nativity church, the room was big, spacious balcony and wonderful view. Some little things were missing, like pans or plates, but as soon as i told Elias he immediately provided them. I stayed there for more than a month, and i totally recommend it.

The family that runs the guesthouse is SO fun and SO kind! Only my two friends were staying at the property but the other four of us were invited to the beautiful rooftop. We ended up dancing and eating and talking all evening with people from all over the world. And get this. When we finished Elias, the owner, drove us back to Jerusalem in his personal car. Amazing! I'll be coming back!
