Famous, long established family hotel, built and landscaped in the style of an Ottoman inn. Charming, authentique atmosphere in the heart of antiquities… Cosy lounge with fire place for cold days… Family collection of antique keys, photographs, textiles with real stories… Memories of the past in every corner… Large attractive garden and a swimming pool with a view of the castle… A tranquil setting among blooming roses, jasmines and lemon and cherry trees after a busy day of excursions… Restaurant serving Cretan/Aegean/local food prepared with fresh healthy ingredients using the olive oil from its own olive grow. Variety of jams and marmalades served in breakfast also comes from its own gardens mostly. A large library of books as the owners also have a bookstore. Free Bikes available for guests.

Detailed Reviews
We arrived after visiting Asclepion and Pergamum, had dinner, spent the night, and then visited Ephesus the next day. The location was quite convenient for all of that. We had dinner in the hotel both nights as well as breakfast. The food was good; it felt like what real Turkish people would eat rather than what might be prepared for tourists and we appreciated that. We had a corner room on the second floor in the building farthest from reception and restaurant. It was very spacious and fairly comfortable though the decor seemed a bit dated/shabby. (I don't see anything resembling our room on the hotel's website) The bathroom could use some updating. The grounds are lovely and I enjoyed some time one afternoon sitting in a lawn chair and reading my book about Achilles and the Trojan War. The staff with whom we interacted were very kind. It's nothing fancy, unpretentious and nice. All in all we enjoyed our stay. (I reserve my "excellent" rating for places that really 'wow' me and that I will never forget)

This is truly a sanctuary walking distance from town, bus station, Ephesus Museum. The garden is beautiful and the swimming pool welcoming after a hard day's sightseeing. The owner, Ayse Ergir, is so very gracious and hospitable. And the food, dinner and breakfast, is good! The decor is amazing, the rooms and bed comfortable, bathrooms spacious. The hotel and rooms are set back from the main road so traffic noise is not an issue.

Room Tip: An upper room on the second floor will give more light but I did not see an elevator.

My friends and I stayed at the Hotel Kalehan when visiting Ephesus and Mary's House. It was a great experience. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The rooms are nice, and the food and atmosphere is excellent. The hotel staff helped up arrange transportation to and from the airport, as well as anywhere we went during our stay. The hotel staff treated us like family. We will definitely stay here again.

We stayed in this beautiful hotel for 2 nights and if visiting Ephesus would highly recommend a stay. Ayse and her team are very helpful and provide a wonderful breakfast. Dinner is also offered but unfortunately we didn’t get to try it. The hotel is a 10-15 minute walk into Seluck and the main bus stop. The garden is so tranquil as well as a very inviting pool. We stayed in a Standard Room although small it was ok. Would suggest booking the Special Room if you want a bit more space.
Please don’t hesitate in booking as it truly is a gem.

Quirky boutique style hotel, shielded from the main road and railway by a high hedge. Comfortable public areas, rooms seemed a bit small but equally comfortable. Avoid being on the front above the front door, it appears to be the smoking area and can be noisy. An enjoyable stay.

They are, as I understand, a family business. Starting from my first call for reservation till we checked out, everybody was kind and nice. Rooms are spacious, big and clean. They have very nice garden area. Facility is authentic, oldish looking but gives great atmosphere. Location is very good, center of Selçuk very close to Ephesus, Ephesus museum and Home of Meryemana. Breakfast is good, all products are fresh. I enjoyed my stay with my family and recommend this hotel.

+1
We were on a tour and spent a couple of nights at this hotel.
It's in a good location across the street from a food and liquor market, some restaurants and close to shopping.
The grounds of the hotel are nice and they have a great outdoor pool that we enjoyed. Breakfasts were good and the one dinner we had there was good as well.
Our room was spacious and had goo AC and a fridge. The shower was good.
I'd stay there again.

Stayed at the Kalehan this October 2004 during my honeymoon. It is supposed to be the best hotel in Selcuk and it likely is. We spent about $70/nite for 3 nites. The hotel is about 8-10 minute walk to center of town. You will need to take a taxi to see the sights of Ephesus, however, we walked there and it took us about 40 minutes.
The hotel looks very charming with a central garden courtyard. Made up of 3 separate buildings, it has a pool and the dining room is pretty good. The room rate comes with breakfast which is a continental breakfast with bread, jams, coffee, tea and cereals and yogurt, fruits. The rooms are in keeping with the town, older but quaint, average size, decent bathrooms. No TV's in the room.
However, after checking in, we also looked at other nearby hotels and pensions. The Hotel Nilya is a quaint hotel, smaller and very comparable and closer to town, they had rooms for about $55/nite. We also looked at the pensions, which cater mostly to backpacker types...we saw excellent rooms and they also serve breakfast and free internet connections and some had TV's and pools and they only charged about $20-30/nite. And the difference in quality between the pensions and Kalehan weren't worth the $45 difference in my opinion.

Kalehan is a boutique hotel short walk distance from Selcuk-center. Very cosy reception and restaurant section; nice atmosphere. Rooms have varying standards; some of them have small bathrooms. But anyway, the atmosphere in the rooms is that you feel as if you are living 30-40 years ago, which is a good feeling. Kalehan is run by tourism-minded family and service-minded staff.

Old hotel with very small rooms. Needs updating and ac. Stuffy and a bit smelly. Pass on this one. 120 euros ridiculous. Buffet minimal. No internet.

Washington DC, District of Columbia14 contributions5 helpful votesWe will be arriving in Izmir on a late-evening flight arriving at about 23:30. The hotel advertises an airport transfer. How can we get from the airport to the hotel? If we rent a car, is there parking at the hotel and is there a charge for parking?
Hello,
Please email our hotel at info to find out about the transfer service and conditions. We have parking place and is free of charge. Thank you.

Dear our guest,
We have a room with bath having a bar to hold while in. This is on the ground floor but in back building. And there are some steps to go to that room in the garden. But we help you for driving there from outside into the backyard via the other door in garden. This is the best way to reach to this room.
We would be glad to help you on any other questions that you might have.
Best regards,
Hakan Özdemirci
