First and foremost, the location is excellent. There is a HSBC with an ATM right outside where you can withdraw money at anytime. Tip: you can withdraw from machines where it says ‘Ortak’. Another tip: take a left when you walk outside the hotel for better exchange rates than the main road (although the further out you go, the better rates you will get). There is a tram stop right down the road (if you instead turn right upon leaving the hotel) and also a Burger King or McDonald’s if you fancy a cheeky burger. It is part of the main Sultanahmet area. A lot of the main places to visit are in this area: Haga Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace etc and are all walking distance. There were two people in particular that stood out during my stay - Emre and Baris. They were extremely helpful, made a lot of effort to ask how we were getting on, always made conversation, were extremely polite and always made us feel welcome. Ibrahim was also very friendly but we only met him towards the end of our stay. Generally, all the staff were nice but greetings were sometimes a hi and bye thing. This was mostly due to the language barrier so when other staff were trying to converse in Turkish, I was doing the hi’s and bye’s. One for the notebook - merhaba means hello and hoşçakal means bye in Turkish. The hotel itself is very well maintained. The rooms were a good standard, cleaned well and spacious (although we had a corner suite). The breakfast was good but variety could be a little better. You can ask the staff for omelettes and pancakes at breakfast and the chef will make it. There are also indoor and outdoor seating options. To my knowledge, they only provide breakfast but I don’t usually go full board on holiday as I like to experience local cuisine so don’t know for certain. The fitness centre did the job. You need to make reservations as it is quite small. Having said that, it was usually empty. I have put 5 stars for value as some other hotels in the vicinity are cheaper but some are dated. I felt I got what I paid for. Overall, the hotel is quite small with only 50 something rooms but the rooms, condition, decor, location and staff were all top tier. 100% recommend.…
Spend a week here with my wife for our 2nd year anniversary. The hotel location is excellent...honestly...it is literally walking distance (5 min walk) from The Hagia Sophia, The Blue Mosque, Topkopi Museum, The Grand Bazaar. With this being the first time for me and my wife the location of the hotel was everything to us and this was spot on. A lot of cafes and restaurants on the end of the road and currency exchanges places. Especially with covid the hotel was super clean and immaculate which was one of the main reasons why we chose this hotel, as we made the judgement from its pictures online but in reality the cleanliness was spot on. Our flight out was an evening one and we requested to check out a little later to which the hotel allowed us to do which I thought was a nice touch especially with the weather not being the greatest during our trip. The suite room was amazing especially with a longer stay as it gives you a chance to spend some time in a living room space with the bedroom separate. Overall, we loved the hotel and would definitely recommend it. The staff were amazing especially those two young ladies who came and checked up on us during breakfast. It was a touch of class. Will definitely book this hotel when we return again. …
The Fer Hotel is in an excellent location, with major attractions literally five minutes walk away. There is an ATM opposite the hotel, a shop next door where you can buy water and snacks and a larger supermarket just around the corner. The hotel is very clean and comfortable. My room was nice and quiet and the bed very comfy. All the staff were professional, friendly and helpful. Hale, in the rooftop breakfast room, was specially gracious and attentive. Well done, Fer Hotel! Recommended.
What a cool hotel and perfect location. Getting to the hotel is challenging because traffic in this area of Istanbul is really bad, but once you are there, everything is walking distance. The staff was great. Everyone was so warm and welcoming. The hotel itself is beautoful. We had a junior suite which was very comfortable, even with a crib added for our daughter. Great wifi too. We had a nespresso machine, welcome snacks (chocolates and cookies). The bathroom had every toiletry you might need. There was a spacious mini fridge too. No good views from the hotel, but great views from the rooftop restaurants in the neighborhood.
Excellent hotel in an enviable location. Hotel reception staff were very helpful. Bedrooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. Fantastic showers in the bathroom. Service and food at breakfast was extremely good - freshly prepared dishes were being brought out at regular intervals. Overall a great experience.
