It is very rare to find a hotel where complex dietary requirements are understood, let alone acknowledged and catered for.
In our case we have gluten intolerance and cannot take MSG, which usually in the southeast asian region is rarely understood. Here we have the Palace Gate group of hotels in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, where staff go out of their ways to accommodate these requirements. Just for us there was gluten free bread available at the well balanced breakfast buffet, and we did not have to suffer from MSG in the food.
It so happened that we were her for my wife's birthday, and we were surprised with a gluten free birthday cake (hard to find in Europe...) at our doorsteps.
The rooms are spacious, and the kitchen well equipped, with a large fridge/freezer. It is perfectly possible to work remotely from the hotel room, as the hotel's WiFi is of exceptional speed and reliability.
Which hotel in Phnom Penh? Palace Gate, for sure.

Staying at Palace gate with the view of the Royal Palace from my room makes me feel like a King's guest.
The pool is warm and of a decent size, unlike many of the cold and tiny pools in the city.
The gym overlooks the river, has new equipment and has sufficient air-con which allows for a nice cool workout with a view. A much welcome improvement from most local gyms with rusty weights and lack of breathable air.
Rooms are spacious and well-maintained. Beds are super comfortable, you'd feel like you're sleeping on a cloud. The hotel also provide options for pillows to cater to anyone's taste for a good night's rest.
The spa has a scented sauna room which is ideal for couples who enjoy getting pampered together.
Food is so-so, but since you will be at the riverside there are tons of food options around the area.
If you are looking for a place to relax, recharge and be pampered at a decent price then look no further!

As a teacher, the hotel ran a promotion to celebrate us this weekend and at the offer and great price I booked a night. The hotel allowed late check in and extended check out which was extremely helpful. However, one night turned into two nights as the first was so enjoyable and I'm truly sad that I need to return to my real world. The room was exquisite, welcoming, clean, sweet smelling and just opulent. With two balconies both overlooking completely different parts of Phnom Penh, I spent a long time relaxing in both. Dinner Friday night was extravagant but so reasonably priced, absolutely delicious. Chatted into the early hours and then after a good night's sleep, went to breakfast, which is conveniently timed from 06:30 to 10:30 for the early risers or late sleepers. Both Khmer and Western food was available and the Mondulkiri coffee was a further welcome treat. I requested availability for another night and this was in order, which gave me the opportunity to spend the better part of the day relaxing in the indoor swimming pool with comfy, soft towels and bottled water available. By this time I was tired so had an afternoon nap then relaxed in my very comfortable room and then headed down to dinner at the restaurant. Delicious food was enjoyed. I then splurged on a massage and foot scrub at the inhouse Senses Spa, conveniently open from early morning until 22:00. I've had many massages in my life, but this wine was right up there with an 11/10! I then headed to bed and slept so comfortably until latish Sunday morning. Headed down to another delicious breakfast and yummy coffee and then with a late check-out I relaxed in my room until I showered and sadly headed out the door. The weekend was a treat! The hotel were extremely accommodating and offered many discounts on all their services, the room and food. Hotel staff were professional, helpful, friendly and accommodating. Meeting the Manager, Mr Seila, was fantastic and he was extremely accommodating and professional and friendly. All staff were wonderful, accommodating and helpful. I'm looking forward to returning to this beautiful hotel and services soon. Thank you Palace Gate Hotel & Residence for an unbelievable weekend. I'm so grateful. An out if this world experience.

Phearom So and the Palace Gate Hotel & Residence Team welcomed us back for our second stay with warmth and personal attention which made us feel special and think about returning for a third stay.
My wife enjoys cooking and liked the idea of having a kitchen for occasional use while still having full service hotel facilities and while looking at possible options we noticed that Phearom So, who had looked after us exceptionally well during a long stay in Raffles Siem Reap, had moved to Palace Gate which prompted us to choose it for our first stay.
We are enjoying our stay in a higher floor spacious and well maintained studio with kitchen facility and nice view of the temple in a convenient location and appreciate the personal attention and responsive service.

We stayed at this property for 1 night. We arrived late at night via taxi. There were 2 people in the front desk who were friendly and willing to assist us. The hotel is located in a very good location. It is easy to walk to and from the main attractions from this hotel. However, we did not find any stores or restaurants near the hotel. Taxis are available and the hotel can arrange that for you. The rooms are big and have all the amenities you would need. This property is ideal for extended stays as the rooms have a kitchenette, including all utensils, cookware, etc. The hotel is in good shape, clean, and quiet. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet. The staff was friendly and attentive. The coffee they serve is a very nice treat and it comes from a coffee producing region in Cambodia. The coffee has a strong hint of chocolate. The food was varied and of good presentation. The areas outside of the room are not air-conditioned. The lobby is air conditioned. We did not use the swimming pool. However, it looked very nice and clean.

With the best location in the city right next to the Royal Palace, this wonderful hotel has beautiful spacious rooms with balconies overlooking a great pool area. They offer a delicious breakfast, has a spa, a gym, fine dining at the famous Mealea restaurant, and a sky bar overlooking the spectacular Royal Palace. The hotel has exotic tropical gardens filled with Asian antiques and modern motifs. The front office manager Chanthy Mom could not have been more accommodating and catered to our every need. His staff from the front desk, to the restaurant, bar staff and houskeeping were all helpful and always with smiling faces. Check out the bike rentals. The bikes are made of bamboo as well as the helmets. We are returning to the hotel on February 8th and can't wait.

Arriving at the Palace Gate Hotel & Residence the welcoming staff and luxurious French décor aesthetics, creates a comforting environment in a busy city. The location of the hotel makes the accessibility to many of the must visit tourist attractions in the city easy. The front of house team were always so obliging and offered many suggestions and help. We dined at the Restaurant Du Chateau for breakfast and dinner and the staff assisted with our dietary requests. As we were visiting Phnom Penh for a Cambodian wedding, the size, cleanliness and facilities in our room made it so easy to prepare for the event. We enjoyed the relaxation and massage treatments at the Senses Spa following a hectic few days. Make sure you check out the Wat Botum Park after dark. The location of the hotel makes it safe to walk around the streets.

Good location, beautiful decoration. It's very very clean and great service. 5 stars for this hotel. I travel from Thailand and stay in that hotel. The atmosphere is very relax. It's very quit. The staffs are very nice and really helpful. My family and I choose to stay in this hotel whenever we are in Phnom Penh. Every staffs from front desk, housekeeping, restaurant and even the supervisors and managers take great care of us. It really makes us feel right at home. I specially thank one of the managers, Mr Mon Chanthy when a family member lost her passport. He has certainly gone through the extra mile. Being outspoken in English, diligent, well-dressed and with an impeccable manner, he is a valuable asset in your company. Hospitality business is a happy business. It is delightful to know that this hotel is able to provide such excellent service, not only to its guests, but also to returning guests. It may not have five stars facilities but truely a five stars service.
