Mad Monkey Phnom Penh was the second hostel me, my wife and friends stayed at from this hostel chain. It is super well located in the Cambodian capital and its atmosphere is very chilled. We were gently welcomed by the staff, the premises are all very clean and they offer a super fun set of activities to bring guests together, like pub crawl, boat tour, games etc. Ah, and of course, we could not ignore the free beers every day! Highly recommended hostel!

Ended up staying here for about a week. The beds are huge, quite comfortable and they seem to change the sheets every day.
Free beers for 30 minutes each night is great and makes the room much better value.
Pool is great, perhaps a bit small but it never seems crowded.
The food and drink available at the bar/ restuarant is good, but a bit expensive by Cambodian standards.
Good for both partying and chilling depending on your mood.

The beds in the 8-bed female dorm are very large. Lockers are also spacious. l’ll recommend an adapter for the plugs depending in which type you have because my charger kept falling out.
Before I went there I called them to hear if they had a room without AC, but the woman in the phone didn’t understand my question so her reply was repeatedly “Sorry we don’t have any beds tonight”, I then tried to ask in Khmer but then she started yelling at me in Khmer and hang on which I found really rude. Tried to call them
again but couldn’t get through. Lol. I hope it is not the way you normally talk to locals Khmer.
The woman in the reception was nice though, but I had to wait 25 minutes in the morning to check out because of the line and problems with the ones in life so be sure to check out in good time if you need to catch a bus like I did.
Absolutely a party hostel, nothing else, found it really hard to be a part of it if you’re not really in the mood, it was overwhelming. But they move their party in the evening to another building where they have their cafe, which is really dope.

The only place to stay in Phnom Penh. Sick tours, especially the booze cruise and pool party. Food is amazing, drinks are cheap and to top it off the reps are incredible, especially Isabelle who went out of her way to make us feel welcome all the time! Will be back please god

Overall we had a great time here! We stayed in a 4 bed private dorm with its own bathroom. Good storage space in the room and it was air conditioned. Room was clean however bin in the bathroom was not changed for the three days. There were activities every night and many great opportunities for socialising. Went on the pub crawl which was a lot of fun. There is a restaurant which offers breakfast lunch and dinner - delicious food and the drinks are reasonably priced.
Hostel is in good location and close to Club Love and a laundry service is located next door.
The cons: reception staff made us pay cash as “cards with a PIN number won’t work” - we had to use the ATM conveniently located outside Mad Monkey to take out USD to pay. Suprisingly when purchasing food and drink there was no issue with cards being accepted at the bar.
Vibe was a bit weird as there were small children in the pool/bar area which is not what I pictured when booking a party hostel.
Many tuk tuk drivers congregate out the front of the hostel and each time you enter or leave Mad Monkey the drivers will offer you a ride. Multiple times even when you say no.

Casson is the absolute man, we arrived and he introduced himself straight away and he made us have a great time. I would definitely stay at mad monkey everywhere now. The local staff are amazing and really nice the beds are good. The wifi isn't great but when you're travelling do you really need wifi. Casson took me on tours and got me wild. All in all amazing time

I arrived in Phnom Penh at around 2AM with no accommodation booked. Roth the night reception quickly book/check me in within 15 minutes. Without him, I’ll probably sleep at the reception and my quick trip to Phnom Penh would have been ruined. Checking out with him 2 days later in the early morning hour were also quick and painless.
I stayed at the 12 beds dorm, quite loud due to the nearby construction in the morning but that’s out of the hostel control. Room were clean, water pressure could be a bit better. The bar is in the other building so it is also really quite at night.

I stayed at the Mad Monkey during my 4 day visit to Phnom Penh. Aside from the great location of the hostel (close to laundry service, restaurants, tourist attractions and spas). I was particularly impressed with Alana who seemed to have an unlimited supply of energy and enthusiasm. She made an extra effort to make me feel welcome and was constantly entertaining people and looking out for them. I also wanted to thank Mikhailo who was constantly conversing with guests and creating a great social atmosphere.

Had an awesome time at Mad Monkey! The pool was an amazing respite after an insanely hot day in Phnom Penh, and the kareoke on Tuesday night was super fun. Our private double room was big, clean and comfortable, and the wifi was good. A highlight of our stay was Alana, a staff member there, who was super friendly and energetic, and gave us great recommendations for the next leg of our trip! Absolutely lovely to meet a fellow Canadian so far from home :)

It can be improved. Some of the people from the staff are really nice, some others are not. The private bathroom of the room was huge and the room was clean and comfy; on the other side, it is very loud on the ground floor all the time during the night. I think this was the only hostel (together with the Mad Monkey in Siem Reap) in South - East Asia countries I visitedwhere they asked me to pay in order to refill the water bottle. And they don't even have breakfast included, even if it so not so cheap compared to other places. I think you can do better.

Yes, and it has great atmosphere and staff.
Yes , the place is very close to the bars , restaurants and not too far from places to see. Tuk Tuk is very popular and budget mode of transport . They guys are very co-operative . You could hire one of the Tuk Tuk for entire day .
