Only 11.5km from Phnom Penh International Airport, located adjacent to the splendours of the Royal Palace and within a short walking distance of the bustling Riverside area of Sisowath Quay. Palace Gate Hotel offers you luxurious accommodation in perhaps the city’s most convenient location. How often do you encounter a hotel where your neighbors are Royalty? When you arrive, the first thing you notice about our hotel is our lovingly restored French colonial villa – perhaps one of the finest examples in the city – formerly the seat of power of the French colonial government. This stunning centrepiece, complete with ornate columns and wonderful examples of Cambodian tile making, serves as the home to our fine dining restaurant, Mealea. The restaurant offers both French Fine Dining or Royal Khmer Cuisine options, and our chef has created a range of culinary delights to please every palate.

The Palace Gate has a splendid location in the heart of Phnom Penh, overlooking the Palace and the river and within walking distance of some tourist attractions and fine restaurants. It is located in one of the nicest neighbourhoods in Phnom Penh.
The rooms are comfortable, well maintained and the housekeeping excellent. The buffet breakfast includes many choices, including eggs prepared to order and individually made soups with your choice of ingredients.
The poolside bar serves drinks and excellent food, probably coming from the main kitchen. The bar has “happy hour” from 3 pm to 5 pm when you can buy one drink and get the next one free. The bar has happy hour from 5 pm to 7 pm, with the same offer. Drinks are relatively cheap in Cambodia and such offers may tempt one to over indulge!
Perhaps the nicest thing about the hotel is its staff. Always courteous, helpful, concerned about guest comfort and safety and invariably competent. We used them extensively on suggestions for restaurants and transportation. They often went out of their way to assist us; once when we decided to walk to a nearby restaurant for dinner, a hotel staff accompanied us to ensure that we reached there safely.
Altogether, a very pleasant experience.

Just a wonderful hotel impeccably managed to some of the highest standards I've ever encountered, lovey staff, very attentive, always going the extra mile (offering to lift baby buggy / calling maintenance immediately to fix hot water / retrieving a lost phone I didn't even realize I had left poolside)... visited for a week long 'staycation' and didn't want to leave! We would heartily recommend it to any family or friends, as even for tourists the location is unbeatable, nice areas for walking with park / riverside close by plus of course the Palace for visitors to PP. Rooms big and comfy, front desk so professional, housekeeping very accommodating, all the food we ate (breakfast / poolside / evening) was delicious. Our 2month baby loved her first ever swim in the PGH pool which on a sunny day gets warm enough for a newborn but still with areas of shade and relaxing fountains, perfect.

We stayed here for two nights at the end of our holiday and it was a lovely place to stay. The staff were very welcoming and helpful and the hotel is beautiful. Our room was lovely, but the bathroom set up was 'different' - shower and toilet are glassed off from the main room so no real privacy if you needed it.
The pool is glorious and very welcome after a hot day sight seeing.
The breakfast was great, catering to all different tastes. We also ate at the hotel for both lunch and dinner and found the food delicious and the staff wonderful.
The view from the sky bar is lovely in the evenings, looking out over the palace grounds. The location was perfect for a stroll along the 'promenade' by the river - where a lot happens in the evenings. Also close to a night market if you want shopping. The tuk tuk drivers are very helpful and always close by if you want them.

I wouldn’t recommend this hotel for the following reasons :

Firstly for a five star hotel they have not thought about guests on their last day. They would not let us keep our room on at first telling lies that someone was coming in. Then the next day they said we could keep it til three for the pricely sum of $64 USD. I could have booked the whole room on the Internet for the night including breakfast for £80. Secondly they do not offer a courtesy room with a shower. The shower is the cold pool shower so you have to shower in your swim-wear and then leave the hotel with wet clothes in your case and wet hair. POOR!!

Secondly the pool area only offers 6 sunbeds in the actual sun and sell pool day passes to non guests for €10 including some drinks so if 6 non guests come and take those beds you as a paying guest are stuck in the shade! Also a lot of foliage around the pool so we kept getting bit.

Thirdly we were in the annex building (room 1104) and from 5am every morning there is the warble of nesting pigeons that hang around there and the clinking and clanking from breakfast. It was not a restful place.

I left some small denomination riel bills held down by a book and the maid stole them so make sure you put everything in the safe. A slider also went missing so I made sure I took the other one back in the case so if they stole it hoping we would leave the other and then they would have a pair.

If I were to return I would go elsewhere.

Check in time was at 2.00 pm so as I was travelling on business purpose I asked on the possibility to have the room at noon and it was confirmed by mail. I had however to wait for 45 minutes in the lobby.
Room had nothing special and despite location it seems to fit mainly a chinese clientele (that seemed in majority in the hotel)
I had snack by the pool that was ridiculously expensive for what it was. Restaurant service was however excellent, including during the Breakfast.
Upon check out my car was not ready on time and Reception staff invoiced me for round trip transfer while I use only the return.
To summarize an unpleasant experience with a clear lack of professionalism and management, despite a good potential.

Came for a 10 day work trip. This hotel situates on a pretty good location with amenities around.

Price bang for buck for biz travel, buffet breakfast included is definitely a highlight as it’s got a pretty good variety of Asian and western cuisine. The skybar and mealea restaurant are also great for lunch and dinner they have a half price happy hour sesh too so you can just sit and kill the night with nice breeze at the rooftop overlooking views of the Palace.

All and all great service amongst the reception, cleaning and hospitality staff. They were knowledgeable and took extra mile to assist me in all sorts of bookings around the city.

They also have a massage and salon and I’d gone in for couple massage session and staff were great and helped me with my poor sleeping over long haul flights.

I will no doubt recommend this place and shall go to this hotel when I come back Phnom Penh next.

One thing to note however, I was charged 2 bottles of paid water from the mini bar in my room which I am sure I didn’t use. I felt a little insulted when the GM ignored my response for the fact that I had not consumed it. Suggest to have the staff double check the fridge upon checkin to avoid recurrent of such incident

Staff are very courteous and friendly and go out of their way to be helpful. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable and we were often asked if there was anything more that we required. Dining was offered both in and outside in lovely surroundings including the leafy poolside. Food was fresh, tasty and of a wide variety. The restaurant and the sky bar were both very good to visit. The pool was a fair size and mostly shaded which provided welcome relief from the sun. Location was perfect in a quiet street just behind the palace and within a few minutes walk of the riverside with its array of restaurants and bars. Tuk Tuks park outside the hotel entrance and hotel staff will hail them and instruct them where to go. Aside from the royal palace where a guide is recommended, we found visits to the killing field and the old prison worthwhile but shocking. Our favourite market was central.

The best hotel stay I’ve ever experienced in Phnom Penh was at this hotel (even better than the Raffles and the Sofitel in Phnom Penh). The friendly and warm welcome, helpful and thoughtful staff, spacious rooms with comfortable beds and sofas, rooms and public areas are spotlessly clean a charming colonial style restaurant and beautiful swimming pool makes this an outstanding hotel. It’s the perfect location to explore Phnom Penh by foot, a great place for a pampering staycation and the rooms are fitted with generous sized desks for a comfortable work trip. Special mention must be made for all hotel staff. I’ve never seen such a friendly team, always on the alert to anticipate guest needs and excellent initiative shown. Special mention must also be made to Pisey from Front Office. When Pisey heard I was going to check out super early (before breakfast starts), she arranged for a takeaway breakfast box without any prompting on my part - great initiative and customer service! I will be sure to return to Palace Gate Hotel & Resort again on all my future visits to Phnom Penh.

The hotel has a luxurious colonial feel located near many tourist spots, within a 5 minute walk to Sisowath Quay, across the road from the palace, a pleasant walk through Botum park to Independence monument and within walking distance to many restaurants and bars. Despite its convenient location when you enter the hotel into their spacious reception area or through their peaceful courtyard garden area it is a tranquil oasis.
We chose a Royal Suite which was gorgeous with a small balcony overlooking the pool. It had everything we needed including a huge bathroom, TV with film channels, minibar, tea making facilities and a large comfy bed.
The breakfast buffet was great with lots of choices. We ate on the outside verandah overlooking the pool area which was a lovely start to our days.
The pool area was beautiful, very relaxing with plenty of comfortable sun loungers and was a lovely area to relax after a day spent sight seeing. There is a bar area by the pool with a happy hour late afternoon. There is also an outside rooftop bar with a great view overlooking the palace with another, slightly later, happy hour.
All staff are professional , courteous and friendly. The waiter in the pool bar knew our drinks order by our 2nd visit Nothing was too much trouble, from advice on places to visit, organising tuk tuks, (the hotel have their own tuk tuks and drivers), to booking a taxi to the airport. They even provided us with a very nice breakfast box on our final morning as, because of an early flight, we would have missed breakfast.
We spent a long time choosing a hotel for our stay in Phnom Penh as we wanted a hotel which was comfortable and quiet but also did not require transport to restaurants and sights. We could not have been happier with our choice.

First stop on our Christmas trip to Cambodia, we arrived late and drank cocktails and ate a selection of dishes at the rooftop bar overlooking the Royal Palace.
Nice rooms, nice pool with bar. Clever use of water falls to hide the sound of the passing traffic as the hotel is on a busy road (you would never know) in a good location.
Food good, service okay, staff helpful; a good first experience of Cambodia.

I think they have corner rooms which would give you a view to the river and palace. I guess outside facing rooms are quieter than the courtyard ones.
