Detailed Reviews
The staff were all friendly and helpful. Great location, central to everything. Walking distance to bars and restaurants. The room and comfy and clean and had a great shower. The breakfast included was ok. Lots of different local choices, or it was eggs with toast. The coffee was really good.
Would probably stay again if we return to Ho Chi Min City. It’s not far from the Airport either.

Enjoyed our 2 nights stay here.
The room was modern, it had the flair of a business hotel.
Nice new bathroom.
Fantastic location in District 1, close to a variety of restaurants. The Reunification Palace is 5 minutes by foot, for the War Remnants Museum add another 10 minutes in the same direction.
The lobby is pretty much non existant which makes the place look a little less cosy. Breakfast was mainly Vietnamese style warm dishes, fried noodles and similar.
Any other than that you can have eggs, either scrambled or sunny side up or as an omelet and that's it.
There is a bar/restaurant on the other side of the street which plays loud music until about midnight and it can be heard in the room. But that comes with the location in the heart of the center.

3 ingredients for a fantastic hotel - location, location, location! Just 5 mins walk to Takashimaya mall! Comfortable room and decent sized, clean and well maintained. Breakfast provided at ground floor cafe, but service a little slow. Will return!

Spent 4 nights in this hotel and did not sleep a wink.
Room was shaking with all the maintenance & drilling that started at 7am every morning. Reception did not care and were very rude and told us it was just for ‘one day’ but of course this happened every single morning!
Really rude receptionists and would definitely not recommend to stay here.

We had high hopes as we were upgraded to a bigger home but things went down hill from there.
When I ordered ice, they asked me to walk down to the restaurant to pick it up. Why? The staff was busy watching Vietnam's national team play soccer in the King's Cup and was too busy to bring up ice to our room. Room service did not pick up the cups of ice (no ice tray) so they asked me to bring 4 cups back down for them to clean. The restaurant was good and we received good service from the two ladies working there, but the kitchen ran out of eggs for breakfast one of the days we stayed.
Given that our AC unit was very weak, the room was hot, and making us walk down to get ice earns this place 1 star. I would not recommend this hotel and will not come back here due to terrible customer service.

We picked this hotel partly because of good reviews (just wonder if you guys giving good score for this place ever stayed in a normal hotel in HCM?).
Rooms look quite ok from the first visual impressions. Don’t get fooled!
After a few minutes in room 303, my daughter asked me: “Daddy, what kind of sound was that?”. I answered as if I did not hear it, but another 10 seconds later, the sound came back. Running animals on the suspended gypsum ceiling.... and I tell you, they were not small innocent mice!
The receptionist was contacted and he suggested: “It must be the neighbors cat”....
We returned and my daughter noticed the long fat tail of a rat, through the air conditioning grille.
Enough was enough, and we decided to leave this rathole “hotel”.
Reception tried to persuade as to change room, but with rats running above the suspended ceiling on third floor, be sure this is not the only place.
Reception Manager (Chassy) PROMISED our rooms would be fully refunded, but we need to claim to hotels.com
Of course she lied, and hotels.com explained that hotel did not agree on any refund.
So, instead of solving this embarrassing situation by goodwill, Papaya Saigon did not keep their promise. This means I will not be diplomatic and refrain from the worst hotel review I ever did.
Beware people, don’t get tricked by some good reviews of this place. Be sure to carefully read my review and others.
Yes, we did find excellent rooms in another HCM hotel (Rex) but we could really have avoided this adventure!

Came back from a full day out in the city to find all my cash taken from my purse which was in my bag, including pound notes. Told the receptionists who looked at CCTV footage and claim they could see my bag on the chair from the footage from the corridor and no one touched it however I thoroughly searched the room before leaving and there was no sign of it so it must have been taken by someone with access to the room. Highly disappointed with this because the hotel was nice and in a good location, shame they have untrustworthy staff working there.

We have been travelling around Vietnam for the last month and this is definitely the worst (but not awful) hotel we have stayed at.
Positives:
- Modern room with a comfy bed.
- Fantastic location.
Negatives:
- The noise. We have become used to the incessant beeping at night in Vietnam so this did not bother us. However, the bar over the road plays loud music from around 7am - 12pm at night.
- Customer Service - over our travelling, it is clear that the Vietnamese are so friendly but unfortunately we did not see this at all at this hotel. We barely got a hello when we arrived, they didn’t even look up each time when we walked into the hotel and when it was time to leave we didn’t even get a goodbye or a thank you for staying.
- The man who covers the night shift. We were woken in the night by a huge bug in the room, bigger than our hands. My boyfriend went down to ask for some help to get it out. He was repeatedly told to leave it until tomorrow as it’s probably a mouse! We are not staying in a room when there could be a mouse. He was so dismissive and finally came up. Unfortunately we could not find it and he kept making out like we’d made it up. When we woke up in the morning, a closed bag of crisps on the side had lots of holes in so had obviously been chewed through.
- breakfast. You only get to choose one thing at breakfast. Don’t choose the chicken fried rice as there is no chicken! We checked out at 6am so would miss breakfast. We asked for a breakfast box as we’d paid for it and like all the other hotels had done for us. They said this was fine and took our order but when we checked out, the horrible man on the night shift didn’t know anything about it and didn’t care enough to find out.
There are much better hotels in the area for a similar price.

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights on our trip to Ho Chi Minh. Unfortunately this hotel is not.
There is construction going on directly next door which begins at 7am every morning with noises loud enough to make the room shake, this was never notified to us or any of the other guests, it was impossible to sleep and the hotel should be closed while this is going on.
Also, a bar across the road plays loud music from around 7am-midnight, it is a disaster of a hotel.
Receptionists also extremely unhelpful, rude, poor English and clearly do not want to work here.
The breakfast is also very poor.
This is the first poor review I have ever left and if you are thinking of staying here just choose another option in District 1 of HCM and save stress/money.

Stayed three nights. A great location. Walking distance to War Remnants Museum and Ben Thanh Markets. Clean rooms, well appointed. Helpful staff in hotel and restaurant. We ate complimentary breakfast and had dinner. Great food. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Please ask the hotel directly. I know that our room is a non-smoking one.
At night there's no big traffic. So don't worry.
