Detailed Reviews
This hotel is incredible, the service provided is second to none. The staff are excellent, Jackie the Manager is an extremely professional man who also provides such a friendly personal service. He helped us out with some problems my mum had with her previous hotel in sapa. It was also a trip to celebrate my mum and her friends 50th birthdays and they provided them with a gorgeous cake to wish them happy birthday. Location of the hotel is outstanding, 2 minutes to the lake and right in the heart of the old quarter. The rooms are so reasonably priced as they are to a great standard and compared to other hotels in the same area. Amazing staff throughout especially Dan, Martha and Ruby. But all were super helpful and friendly. There was 5 of us in our party and we all were bowled over by how amazing the service was here. Best I've ever experienced in Vietnam. Gorgeous rooms and the best breakfast cooked fresh for you with great quality ingredients. It's such a quiet hotel considering the location. I first stayed here 3 years ago and I definitely hope to stay again in the future. Thanks for a great stay!!

I wish I could give this hotel a 10 it was so amazing. If we are lucky enough to come back to Hanoi this will be the only place we will stay!
The hotel has a small amount of rooms which means every guest is treated above and beyond. We even got there at around midnight and the staff was there waiting for us with welcome tea and snacks! Mr. Jackie and the staff were always happy and helpful. Mr. Jackie even called our tour company for us when they were running late. Mr. Jackie and staff also arranged transportation from and to the airport which was seamless even with a flight delay.
Breakfast is included every day and is made to order with a lot of options both Vietnamese and Western. The food was delicious and fresh. Mr. Jackie arranged a food tour our first night. Oliver showed us food spots around Hanoi which was a perfect introduction to the city. We highly recommend this tour with him.
We can't say enough about this hotel. It was the best place we stayed in Vietnam.

The hotel is ideally located within the downtown region, and within walking distance to pretty much any tourist attraction you’d like to visit. Restaurants, street vendors and shops are within a stones through from the hotel. Although it’s a busyish area, the rooms (ours anyway, room 408) was quite with no outside noise.
The hotel decor and rooms are tastefully decorated. The rooms are clean and tidy and contain the usual facilities and amenities.
The hotel staff are friendly and helpful, and as they also operate as a travel agency, are more than happy to assist in planning and booking trips. We booked the evening street food tour (Micheal was our guide and I highly recommend this), Halong Bay 1 night 2 day cruise (Genesis was the tour company they used), Tam Coc tour and bungalow accommodation, and the overnight sleeper train with all transport included. All went well and without a hitch.
Thanks to all the staff there for making it a nice and easy stay. Shoutout to Mr Jackie who not only helped with our trips etc, but has kept in touch since we left Hanoi to see how the rest of our Vietnam trip is going.

This was our first trip to Vietnam, having never been to Asia before. The hotel was our first leg of a two week trip.
The staff were excellent, the location was the best, the facilities are awesome and there was a great breakfast with a fabulous view.
We were a family of four ( 2 teenage kids) and we were very sad to leave. If anyone is looking for a great central hotel, in the middle of the old town and just minutes to the lake, then this is for you. From the serenity of the hotel to the chaos of the streets of Hanoi, we loved the area and the buzz of watching the world from our balcony.
We stayed in interconnecting rooms (601:602) and it was the perfect set up for our family with plenty of space.
We booked 4 nights and organised the transfers from the airport directly with the hotel. Mr Le, the manager booked our street food tour and a day trip to Tam Coc. Both were excellent and great value. We also used the Hotel laundry service.
Just steps from the front door you can eat wonderful street food and the area is full of locals buying food as well as tourists. Everyone we met was helpful and smiled as we chose food and sat on the plastic stools eating bowls of delicious Pho, bun cha and other great dishes.
This was our first and best hotel in Vietnam. We can’t wait to come back! Thank you for a great stay.

We arrived in Hanoi just as the Coronavirus crisis was gripping the city to stay a few days before flying back to the U.K. It happened to be my birthday and we spent the day getting tested for the virus so we could get certified fit to fly. One of the hotel staff changed her shift so that she could be out interpreter at the hospital then arranged for someone to pick up our results and bring them to the hotel. After an exhausting and stressful day we returned to our room to find it decorated with balloons and flowers and a Happy Birthday banner over our bed.
Our flight was cancelled at the last minute the following day due to Thailand closing it airports so we were stranded in Hanoi. Our hosts couldn’t have been more understanding. Two days later we were the only remaining guests but instead of closing the hotel, they insisted that we stay as long as we needed to, for free. What could have turned out to be a total disaster was transformed into a very happy stay during a very difficult time. Thanks to all the wonderful staff at La Selva Hotel.

When you travel like I do & everyday your off to experience something new, all you need at the end of the day is a good location, comfortable bed, a good shower, a coffee/tea maker & a fridge & easy access to food if your really beat & don’t want to go out. La Selva has all this, but what makes them stand out is their customer service. We were welcomed by the GM, Mr. Le as our transport pulled up to the building. Everyone was always welcoming & helpful. We arranged all our tours with Mr. Le...Sapa, HaLong Bay, Ninh Binh& Hanoi city tours. We took the night train to Da Nang & he had one of his employees follow our taxi to the train station on his motorbike & then escort us to our sleeping berth, saving us a lot of frustration trying to figure out where to go. I would see Mr Le at 7am & again at 7 pm, a very hard working & lovely human being.

We initially booked the hotel from 30 Sep to 2nd October 2022. Our intention was to cover major tourist spots within Hà Nội. With the strategic location of this hotel we were able to visit all major touristic attractions WITHOUT TAKING ANY TAXI. That’s how strategically this hotel is located.
We also found the service to be impeccable with smiling staff always ready to cater to our needs. Mr Jackie the hotel manager was fluent in English and was able to translate whenever we faced any communication issues.
Since we were vegetarians the hotel took special care in providing us with nice vegetarian options.
The rooms are nice and the hotel is very reasonably priced with the kind of location it offers. Please go ahead and book it if you are looking for a great location with great service in Hà Nội.
Thank you Mr Jakie for making our stay wonderful.

+1
My wife and I booked 4 nights at La Selva on our first trip to Vietnam. Mr Jackie and the entire staff was amazing. Mr Jackie also helped us book a two night Ha Long Bay cruse too. He helped with the visa process to get into the country as well as organized our transportation throughout. Even though we were moving onto Ninh Binh from Ha Long Bay, mr Jackie scheduled and coordinated our transportation so we didn’t have to worry about a thing. He even checked in with us throughout the process to make sure we were having a good time and everything was going smoothly. He went above and beyond to make us feel at home and we feel like we have a friend for life now. We have exchanged multiple messages since then talking about our experience in Vietnam so far. Also while we stayed in Hanoi, he helped us set up day trips and excursions around the city. We never felt pressured to sign up for anything and even though we had booked some on our own beforehand, he didn’t mind at all and just wanted to make sure we had a good time. He gave us restaurants to try and helped us to get local SIM cards for our phones. We also had good conversations about the Vietnamese culture and helped us to learn some of the language. We cannot thank Mr Jackie enough for the amazing experience in Hanoi and miss seeing his smiling face every morning.
About the hotel...
The location is perfect. It’s two streets away from the night market and beer street where a lot of restaurants are located. It is also 4 blocks away from the lake so perfectly situated in the Old Quarter. Even the Ho Chi Min Museum was only a 25-30 min walk.
We really only ate breakfast in the hotel but they had both Eastern and Western options. We went back and forth between the two and all were exceptional. All of the juice was freshly squeezed when you ordered. The restaurant was on the top floor of the hotel so it gave some decent views to the city. It was overcast and rained a couple mornings so I’m sure the views are better at different times of the year/week. The rooms were very clean and I got a kick out of the Astro turf in the hallways vs carpet. All of the staff in the hotel spoke very good English. Even when mr Jackie wasn’t around, the front desk staff was extremely helpful and went above and beyond for us.
We wouldn’t stay anywhere else next time we come to Hanoi.

My family live half in UK half in Australia, we decided to ‘meet’ up in Vietnam and visit 3 locations the La Selva being the first stop.
The hotel is situated right in the centre of the city, it’s small but so very big in PERSONALITY. As far as I could see typical City centre hotel, not typical in anything else. It is clean, well cared for and the staff are second to none. I have stayed in hotels all around the world and I would say this hotel is the friendliest I have ever had the pleasure to stay. The moment we left the Airport, we had arranged a car through them to pick us up I felt cared about.
On arrival at the Hotel, from the outside it looked a little different to what I had expected but I had not thought about it being a city centre hotel. Imagine a small hotel in your own major city. As we entered the building we were greeted by the reception who greeted me (the booking was in my name) we had booked 2 of their cheapest rooms.
The rooms we had were adequate for our needs, very clean, en suite, we were single occupancy but 2 or 3 single beds would easily fit into the rooms. Bathrobes, slippers, hairdryers, tea and coffee making facilities are provided. The other couple in our part had an executive room which had a balcony, they were very pleased with their room. Breakfast is provided with a few options as in Vietnamese, American and English, I tried the omelettes which were delicious. The staff up in the restaurant were very attentive and service was very quick.
As I said earlier I have stayed in hotels all around the world in the past and this hotel is by far, even compared to big chain hotels, the friendliest I have ever stayed. My family and I have felt cared for by not only the staff but the manager too. Jackie and his staff have gone beyond the extra mile to sort out firstly a train booking and then a flight cancellation due to a Typhoon!!
A thousand thank you’s would not be enough to thank the team running this hotel. Good hospitality is priceless and these people fall into that category. I would not hesitate to recommend La Selva to anyone, if I ever return to Hanoi I will return to you.

Our room was comfortable, spacious, and clean. The hotel is close to some interesting things and a short walk to the French Quarter. The staff were very friendly and attentive; they gave us a brief orientation upon arrival with some traveler's tips. Any time we had a question, someone was available to answer it. The airport pickup and drop-off was inexpensive and very convenient as well. We really liked staying here!
