Mövenpick Suriwongse Chiang Mai garners appreciation for its prime location near a bustling night market and local attractions, which many travelers find convenient. The rooms, described as spacious and comfortable, are nonetheless seen as needing modernization, and some guests have called out the gym's lack of sanitizing supplies.
While the hotel's value is generally recognized, opinions on the amenities and atmosphere are mixed, with positive remarks about the breakfast variety but criticisms of the pool and dated interior. Service quality reports also vary, from friendly and professional to occasionally inattentive.

Detailed Reviews
I stayed at the Movenpick Suriwongse with a small group of friends as part of a golfing trip. Everyone enjoyed staying here. Whilst the hotel is starting to show its age, the rooms we had were large, well-appointed and comfortable with everything in working order. One downside, that cannot be fixed, is the size of the shower stall which is very small. Opening the curtains will allow the room to be lighter but even then they are dark - this is a common fault with many hotels. At night, the lighting is barely adequate to be able to read.
The breakfast is good and caters for everyone's tastes and the restaurant was large enough to fit customers in comfortably without being crammed in.
The location is very good with a smallish night market and street food on the adjacent streets. The pool area is small and the gym is also very small and under-equipped - the hotel needs to get heavier weights - 6kg barbells does not really cut it!
If you are travelling the Chiang Mai, this hotel is perfectly adequate to base yourselves in.

Great location, excellent service! We stayed for new year and a week after in this hotel and had an easy and comfortable stay. Though rooms are bit old but that didnt affect the comfort level. Rooms are big, AC's & water heater working perfectly. All of the service staff was excellent, always with a smile. No complaints!
Buffet breakfast could have been better with inclusion of more international choices. Each day, menu was almost the same, that gets bit boring if you are staying for more than 2 days.
For location, nothing beats it. Closer to night bazaar, starbucks, Mc donalds and many great food and shopping options. Also, perfect spot for tour pickups. We stayed during new years, the hotel organized the count down party with live singing etc, which was really fun! The whole street was lit with fireworks and happy smiles. We had a lovely stay here!

In the hotel business, it is firstly about location, then facilities & service. This hotel is in the perfect location for tourists and business people visiting Chiang Mai. It is literally just steps from the main tourist attraction Market and shopping street.
It is an older property and as with all hotels of its age, does have some maintenance issues, that are all being ably addressed by the management.
It also boasts a fantastic courtyard restaurant at the front with great food and one of the best bands I have ever seen in Thailand. We were drawn to go there just about every night of our week long stay.
The lovely Thai GM Khun Pete and his wonderful team of hospitality professionals all helped to make our stay so very enjoyable. Special thanks also to Khun New, the Front Office Manager and the F&B teams.
The property is very reasonably priced, especially considering its great location and we wouldn’t hesitate in returning again, hopefully in the near future.

My friends and I had four days at Movenpick Chiang Mai on a golfing stop over before heading to Hua HIN.
We all felt the rooms ok except for the bathrooms which we believe need an update and were quite dirty . Bathroom floor plan is atrocious had squeeze past the door to access the toilet
The location of the hotel is great ,but like other reviews the breakfast was very average. The only tea bags available were black ,I ask the staff for Green or Jasmin and was advised not available unless you pay , this is supposedly a four star complex.
Gladly our stay was brief.I had room 415 which overlooked the front streeet

Excellent value for the price you pay, but the hotel needs to be renovated ASAP.
I think that for the rate the hotel charges you get a lot for your money. We had a nice size room with a sofa, toiletries, there is the chocolate fondue at 4 pm, nice buffet breakfast, and excellent location. However, the hotel has seen better days, carpet is worn out in the hallways, bed is hard as a rock, bathroom is tiny, no room to move. The room was clean but old.
Breakfast had egg to order, fruit, yogurt, coffee. Staff was not very attentive and we had to remind them to bring us coffee a couple of times.
The night bazaar is downstairs from the hotel, as well as many massage places.
Front desk staff is nice and accommodating.
If you are on a low budget you definitely get your money’s worth. If you are looking for luxury go elsewhere.

I chose the hotel because of its location. Apart from the foyer, everything looks very old-fashioned. My room was OK, although the furniture and the rest of the room design made it very dark. The room and bathroom were very clean, though. I didn't understand how the hotel could be given a Mövenpick brand. According to Accor, Mövenpick is a premium brand, while Novotel and Mercure are mid-scale, which would have been more appropriate. The restaurant is an inhospitable room, and the breakfast was very simple. The hotel's only advantages are its location at the night market and the price. It's a shame, they should invest in this.

We spent 6 nights here; and being Accor Platinum members appreciated the upgrade to a suite on the 6th floor. The suite we were given had minimal natural light, and so we asked for a room change; which Nushy was so helpful in organising. The one we moved into was so much better, with more windows and light.
The Exec lounge was lovely, and Nushy, Noom, and the other people there took care of us really well.
The welcome gift was a nice touch, and delicious.
During our stay, we had a few general questions for the front desk staff, and they were always so helpful in assisting us.
Breakfast was average, but sufficient.
Check-in and check-out was quick and efficient
And finally, the location is fantastic. Close to the walled city, the night markets, and the river. Just perfect!

If you’re after luxury and comfort this hotel is a complete NO NO. The management needs to be changed . The management don’t know how to run this property . Let’s start from housekeeping - towels very old and dirty, rooms have been refurbished but the toilets are still old and tired, toilet lay out is soo tight u can’t sit on the toilet straight, f&B - hire someone that know how to run the breakfast service . Appalling service, cold food ( needs new food warmers ) toaster doesn’t work . ACCOR please get your name off this property !!!!

It's okay to adapt but it's impossible to rest here. Apparently beautiful structure in the hall then decadent in maintenance of elevators and corridors. Swimming pool surrounded by peeling walls. Rooms also on the 5th floor with a view of service walls..
But the worst thing is the small room, impossible to add an extra bed and air conditioner impossible to use: too cold, not adjustable.
Forced to sleep without and work up a good sweat, after all getting sore throats on the first evening.
Rooms with a damp and musty smell.
Very bad experience.

First impressions:
Amazing, very welcoming and a nice way to check in.
Location:
Walk out of the hotel to bars and restaurants. Also the night markets and street food options were all around to enjoy and try so many different foods and drinks.
The hotel has a really nice pool area and bar. The seating was really nice to chill and meet others. It was next to the fitness area.
In the comfortable large lobby area you had access to the restaurant, spa and tour options.
Special mention to our tour guides who booked our taxis and a great day out. The prices were very competitive and the van was air cooled and spacious for the 3 of us.
Everyone we met at the hotel was really friendly.
Rooms: No USBs that we could see, but plenty of sockets to charge your electrics. Everything worked as it should. The rooms were spacious and peaceful.
Lots of pillow options and slept really well here.
We would definitely stay here again on our next visit to Chiang Mai and is highly recommended.
Thank you to all the team here.

It is just a courtesy that if you reserved the total number of people then that should be it. You need to ask the Hotel what their policy is.Hotel has a lobby to entertain guests.
Sorry for the delay in responding. The type of plugs used in this hotel is of the multi purpose type in my opinion, both flat and round can be used. Never had a problem with my Australian appliances but always carry an adaptor with round plugs (European style) too. I am sure the staff would help out if you get stuck, they are super friendly.
it done before that period :)
Our room renovation is only 1 level of zone C and it is soft renovation.
We do recommend a Deluxe room for twin bed or Junior suite room for king size bed, both of room category is zone A which is no renovation area.
For a rollaway extra bed is cost at 800 baht per night for 14 years old.
Thank you krub.
