We were traveling through SEA with a Tour Group and this was the first and last Guesthouse/Hotel on our journey. I had never stayed at a guesthouse before and was a bit nervous how I didn’t know what to expect. The Guesthouse is in a great location but is about 40 mins by GRAB from the Airport in morning traffic. It is a block away from the river, very close to the Grand Palace and close to Khaosan Street. There is also an awesome little alley we fell in love with right behind the guesthouse. Lots of street food, tailors, massages and shops. I felt safe the whole time. On arrival (both times) we were greeted by the sweetest guests service receptionist at the front desk. Whiling checking in a waiter brought us over a very cooling and refreshing welcome drink. I have no idea what it was but I would take another right now if I could. We were checking in a few days before the tour started and everything when super smooth. Our room was ready for us when we arrived around 8am. We stayed 3 days at the beginning of the trip and 3 days at the end. There was an elevator or stairs to get up to the rooms. Our first room was 3245 at the beginning of the trip and on the second floor at the end. The rooms were great, don’t get me wrong they were very plain but really does that matter? The room was very clean. You did have to request at the front desk daily if you would like your room made up. We had a king bed. The beds very basic but very comfortable (firm), minimal blankets but really you do not want lots when it was that hot out. We were the perfect temperature every night in the room. Room had a ceiling fan and AC. TV worked but didn’t have sound but we didn’t have time to actually watch it. There was a different internet code per person which lasted 2 days. Then you would grab a new one from the front desk. Each room had it own bathrooms. They were very small but had everything you would need. They had western toilets but you could not flush toilet paper. Bathrooms also had Shampoo, Conditioner, q-tips & hand/body soap. Showers were trying for me how I don’t like small spaces but we made it work. We did manage to get warm water it just took a bit. There were one towel per person (no hand towels). I am not sure what they expected if you used the pool. The Rooms all had a safe in it. The one down fall was the walls are paper thin. They also asked you to not socialize upstairs because of it. We didn’t hear anything all night so at least you know you have a quiet place to rest when you need to. There was only one plug in socket in the whole room which did fit both American and European adaptors. I do recommend taking a travel power bar adaptor (see picture) if you do not have one. As you can see from my pictures most of the rooms all look the same. The restaurant was ok. We did eat a few meals there. They were not badly priced for being convenient. Restaurant Staff was super friendly. A little bit of a language barrier with the odd person but not an issue at all. They have a huge menu and lots of beverage and snack options. Laundry was a fair price and came back the same day if you got it threw early enough. The pool was a good size and there was some one always cleaning it but it was cold. I only ever got in up to my ankles but it was refreshing. They do have blow dryers which are available from the front desk on request. But there is only a few so if someone doesn’t return it you may be out of luck. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

We arrived at the New Siam II Guest House at 2:30 am after an unsuccessful attempt to check in at our scheduled accommodations. We stayed in our room overnight and asked to be moved the next morning as the king bed was to firm for us.. We changed to rooms later in the morning. It had a king bed, but a smaller bathroom. Overall the room was small and the TV did not work. We did have an in-room safe and a refrigerator. The AC worked fine and we also had a ceiling fan to keep the air moving. There was only one wall outlet for plugging in our computers and phone, not convenient. The person who designed the bathroom should lose his architect license, very poor layout and unsafe. Two of the pillows were very lumpy. They had a nice pool and it was always full of people. They also had a full kitchen for breakfast through dinner at reasonable prices and the food was good. For the price this was a satisfactory hotel. New Siam has several guest houses in this area, some better than the other.

Very nice staff and well furnished rooms. Cheap smoothies and food in the restaurant. Good location. Taking off one star because the key card kept malfunctioning on a daily basis and the wifi signal was very poor on our floor.

I have stayed in this guest house a few times. Rooms are basic but clean. Hotel has a nice pool and restaurant. Prices are very reasonable. The location is amazing. Across the street from the river which offers public boat transport up and down stream...the fastest and least expensive way to move around the city and access to several key attractions. Ram Buttri Lanes run a block behind the guest house, many restaurants and street eating choices and great shopping. Khaosan Road is just a few blocks away which distances you from the noise and late night antics. There is a terrific travel agent who has her office in the main lobby, very efficient and pleasant to deal with...works her magic with obtaining visas and booking trains, buses, flights...whatever. Very convenient and saves a huge amount of time navigating the visa process...hassle free.

Room Tip: Some rooms have air, some have fans, your choice. Rooms not facing the street are quieter.
