Wow! Wow! Wow!
This hotel wins the “best overall” category for us! We travel to Bangkok 2-3 times a year but have never stayed “over the river” so this was an adventure for us.

Our accomodation was superb with a beautiful old world charm. The housekeeping staff were almost invisible and laundry was done on an immediate turnaround!

The Peninsula has one of the most comprehensive breakfast buffets I’ve ever seen! Healthy options. Juice options. Vegan options. American style etc etc.

Fitness options include a 25m (at least) pool to swim plus three other adjoining pools. Well equiped gym including pilates reformer. Steam room, Sauna, Hot Spa and Ice Bath plus a plethora of little extras - cleansers, toners etc. Finish your fitness regime in one of the most beautiful day spas I have ever seen! The options available are so indulgent.

We travelled as a couple - no kids. In fact we saw few children other than some early teens. It probably wouldn’t be my choice if I had children, the hotel seems to suit an older clientele. (Only my opinion!)

Treat yourself to a dinner at the hotels Thai restaurant and indulge in their afternoon tea on the terrace.

This hotel really spoils you!

Returning to the Peninsula after quite a few years I found it was still all the things I loved on past visits. The hotel sits riverside and the rooms and suites are arranged to take maximum advantage of the views up and down the busy river and the city beyond. My suite had floor to ceiling windows in living and bedroom that offered captivating views. It also featured a full sized mahogany desk with printer for needing working space, a large marble bath, and dressing area complete with pass thru box to leave shoes for overnight polishing and retrieving the morning paper.
Tea and a few goodies were delivered every afternoon which was a nice touch. I did not take advantage of the spa but did spend time at the riverside pool which had plenty of covered and uncovered lounges and a poolside cafe. The grounds include an outside Thai restaurant under a huge tree and featuring riverside tables and a great menu. There is also a buffet restaurant and smoothie bar with (covered) open air riverside seating. The formal lobby also has great river views where you can enjoy breakfast or afternoon tea. The hotel has a dock from which they operate free shuttle boats that can take you to the new Icon Siam mall just down the river or to the Taksin pier where you can catch a one of several public boats plying up and down the river or you can climb the stairs to the BTS skytrain which can take you all over the city while avoiding Bangkok's infamous traffic.

Most recently I came here for a function I was invited to, as well as a wedding. I did stay overnight a few times, and to say that was excellent would be a complete understatement. It is mind-boggling the way they pamper you! Lets start with the welcome. It’s incredibly well refined, if arriving by private car I would recommend valeting your car since you don’t need to get your parking card validated, check in is slightly frustrating since the actual check in area is very small. Combined with how much luggage people who would be willing to pay that price bracket bring, it’s a tight fit. But the receptionists are always very courteous and soft toned. The rooms are so well equipped and huge! I had room 911 which supposedly was a standard room, but was so well equipped! Every day they bring you a plate of fruit, which actually is quite the norm in Thailand, as I’ve found. As a child I loved sitting on the window sill and having a panoramic view of the river. Every meal I’ve had at the peninsula has been immaculate. The Chinese restaurant, Mei Jiang especially makes mooncakes which are to die for (mum will always always buy The Peninsula Mooncakes over the lot) The riverside café makes lovely dinner and breakfast. The Thai restaurant presents food more of an art than a meal. Absolutely fantastic. However, I still absolutely love Mei Jiang more than the other two. The service here is also extremely professional. Every single member of staff is courteous and well-presented. One thing I really like about the riverside hotels is actually just how good they are for tourists without a car, or tourists who don’t want to battle traffic jams in taxis etc. As a child my school was down the river, and I was able to take their complimentary shuttle boat service down to the central pier and change there. Tourists can take this boat to the central pier where they can take the BTS down to the city centre, which is very very convenient. Honestly, I just can’t say enough good things about this hotel. I mean, value for money? You might have to splurge a bit, but for me? I’d say it’s like buying an expensive bottle of champagne or flying first class. I wouldn’t do it all the time unless I was swimming in money. But when I do, i would certainly enjoy it. Am I coming back? Obviously. See you in August/September for the mooncakes!

Even though this is my first stay at The Peninsula Bangkok, all their professional hosts made us feel like we were regular visitors. At every opportunity, the courteous and friendly staff made us feel welcome. A big shout to the breakfast and dinner team at Riverside Cafe and Terrace. Well done for your prompt service and smiles!

The hotel and its decoration look outdated but it is obvious that the property is very well maintained and polished. For us, spending a good amount of time in the room and using their facilities, most things were functional and we did not feel like anything was missing. Our room has a beautiful of the river. The pool is outstanding at this hotel. You can easily spend the majority of your day lounging there.

One thing though, the food and beverage options are priced rather high for Bangkok. We would have enjoyed more of the offerings, however, we felt like we would be overcharged.

Will be back again when we can.

The Peninsula Bangkok lives up to every luxury standard expected with the brand: Flawless service in a subdued style, central location on the west side of the Chao Praya river for Bangkok skyline views (stunning day or night), carefully curated details throughout to provide modern comfort and an upscale experience at every turn against a traditional Thai pallet, and of course a renowned spa and pool. The property even offers Thai Cooking Classes for guests.

After a very warm welcome and seamless check-in process, thanks to our booking with American Express Fine Hotels and Resorts, we were treated to a lunch of traditional Pad Thai in The River Café and Terrace seated on a patio with a skyline view against the Chao Praya. For two lovers of Pad Thai, finally tasting the real thing in the nation that created it was a highly anticipated event – and it lived up to every expectation! This is the very location at which you can take a ferry (courtesy of the property) across the river to access many of the main sites including the Royal Palace and avoid the city traffic while taking in the scenic route. The pool features cabanas that are styled as traditional Thai salas for those who seek shade, in additional to sun loungers surrounding the pool for those who worship the sun. Relaxing in our Thai sala cabana was a real treat in the morning hours prior to checkout on our last day, and it was worth the stay if only for this tranquil experience.

Two Girls’ WAVES - We sum up our experience at each property we visit with 5 key factors that are important to us:

**Wow Factor: Truly a luxury property with top amenities and stunning river and skyline views from our room, in which we found a traditional floral greeting gift awaiting us

**Ambiance: Traditional meets modern with a Zen, yet upscale feel and cultural Thai elements throughout

**Value: While a bit more extravagant than many other local properties at the time of our visit, given the currency exchange, it worked out to a tremendous value for us for such a luxury experience

**Ease: Set on the river for quick ferry access to the Royal Palace and central Bangkok sites

**Service: Ultimate pampering with a respectfully subtle touch

We had a deluxe room on the 16th floor. With 3 large picture windows overlooking the chaophraya river. The room was immaculate. Deep plush pile carpets, a walk in dressing area and a huge bathroom. Everything down to the plush towels, trendy bathrobes and comfy slippers (which fit) was wonderful. The room was full of gadgetry including a panel which told you the outside temperature and humidity.
The downside for us was the breakfast. There certainly seemed to be plenty of choice but none of the juices tasted ok. Cereals tasted strange, sort of burnt. They looked ok but didn’t deliver on taste. I can only drink decaf coffee and they had to make this specially. When it arrived it was a small teacup, only half full, which was barely lukewarm. I tried again the following day but it was no better.
We didn’t eat dinner in the hotel as it was quite expensive. However, the local fare wasn’t much better. The main option was eating in the shopping centre ICONSIAM, next door. We ate at a restaurant called d’Ark, where a main course pasts was 400-500 baht. I had the chicken fettuccine which was tasteless, and I left most of it.
The hotel did provide its own complimentary river boat to and from the shopping centre. It ran very half hour.
We did the hop on/off river boat for 24 hours. We do found this a great way to see all the temples etc. And at 200 baht per person it was good value.

We spent the first part of our honeymoon in Bangkok at the Peninsula and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The staff was incredibly welcoming and the service was that of a 5-star hotel. The hotel location is located on the river which was perfect for us, however if you're looking for a downtown Bangkok experience you may want to find a different hotel. They have a very efficient ferry service which transports guests across the river, very seamless process. The room was gorgeous, overlooking the river. The breakfast each morning was one of the best breakfast's I've ever had - they will also go above and beyond to ensure you're satisfied. If I come back to Bangkok, I will definitely be staying here again.

Lovely riverside with views from EVERY room, clean, and tastefully decorated. Great buffet restaurant. For breakfast they had a huge spread with lots of yummy choices, Dimsum, made to order noodle wanton soup, Indian food, Western (great bacon!) customizable Eggs Benedicts, thai Mango they slice right in front of you, lots of pastries, cheese, yoghurt, the works! We love the location, you can take the hotel river ferry to the Icon Siam Mall, cross over to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel for afternoon tea at the Author’s Lounge or drinks at the Bamboo Bar. Room has a good layout, with a nice sofa and desk, quality linen, pillows. Happy that we had a walk-in closet. Special mention to the housekeeping staff who left our rooms clean everyday and consistently made us feel pampered, quickly responding to our requests. The staff at pool were also accommodating and helpful. Get their poolside happy hour cocktails! We really appreciate the personal touch the Peninsula gives guests. Wonderful time there!

1st stay after the Pandemic started and even if people wear masks now, the service and the friendliness of the Peninsula staff is still the same. I stayed for a week with friends and also celebrated my b’day - it was a fantastic stay as many times before. Personally I prefer a room with the 12 at the end… it has great privacy as no other room can look into your window and it also has three large windows in the bedroom… something I enjoy most for sunrise when you can see the city Waking up and the traffic starting right from your bed with a Nespresso coffee. The room itself has a large bathroom with separate shower and bathtub, a dressing area with a window and the large bedroom. Bed is comfy. The hotel is not the newest and the interior is a bit classy but very well maintained.
Breakfast by the river is a fantastic way to start the day and offers all kind of food options. At the same place there is a buffet for dinner with oysters and steak … you see the management around to make sure all works and the guests are happy.
The best part might be the pool: it’s large for a city hotel and has a more “kids” and a quiet area. Service here is also excellent and you can spend days here enjoying the sun.

Overall still my no 1 choice in BKK with a high end service but relaxed vibe.

This is our second stay at this hotel, the last time being in 2014. The level of service is extraordinary. You feel so coddled from the minute you enter the hotel, and through every interaction with staff. The rooms are spectacularly maintained, the views of the Chao Phraya river fabulous, and the food and drinks, particularly the buffet are amazing. When lying by the pool, the staff regularly bring around iced water as well as 'free' treats, such as popsicles and guava juice. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Bangkok and would happily never leave the hotel! Price to experience ratio cannot be beaten. The spa is absolutely beautiful, and the changing rooms by the gym have a sauna, steam room and hot and cold jacuzzis...lovely.
