We stayed at the Siam to celebrate my husband’s birthday and our 25th wedding anniversary in late Feb. It was an amazing 3 days spent at the hotel. Apart from the beautiful decor and peaceful ambience, the service was exceptional. There was a high level of personalized attention given to us, especially during mealtimes. My husband was delighted with the complimentary cake on his birthday! Our room was upgraded to the Mae Nam suite which was extremely spacious and comfortable. We got a complimentary boat ride to Icon Siam one afternoon but we quickly hurried back from the hustle and bustle of the mall to enjoy this oasis of calm! We even used the screening room to watch a late night movie. Three days and two nights was the right amount of time to relax and enjoy the different nooks and crannies in this boutique hotel! would like to make a special mention of Khun Gub who looked after our every need during the stay. Will definitely visit again!

In my opinion The Siam is a one of a kind hotel with almost no benchmark to compare to in Bangkok: it would be like comparing an old collectible classic car to a brand new sports car. The Siam is almost like a resort in the city, and the hotel also looks like a museum with many historical artefacts in the common areas and also in the rooms. The hotel is low-rise and only has 39 suites and villas so very quiet which in periods of high occupancy in the city (non-covid times) would be a nice change from the large busy hotels. The Siam is also in a large compound isolated from the rest of the city with vegetation to give a strong resort feeling. I booked the entry level room (80 sqm) and received a one-category upgrade at check-in to the to Mae Nam Suite (90 sqm). The fact that even the cheapest rooms at this hotel are so large means that for people who value space, when comparing to other hotels you probably have to match with the higher level room types. In that regard The Siam is comparable to 137 Pillars where all rooms are suites and quite large, therefore the starting price is not cheap. The Mae Nam suites are on the second floor of the hotel and have modest water views; the better views are on the 3rd floor and those rooms are the Riverview suites. That said, regardless of which room type the views are nicer at the other riverside hotels such as Mandarin Oriental, Four Seasons, and Capella. The Siam is an old hotel and the room is unmatched in terms of design with a very traditional and historical feeling rather than the modern design of many other luxury hotels. The room was very long with the window at the far end which made the room a bit dark. Also because this is effectively a resort, it’s one of the few hotels in Bangkok where I saw mosquito repellant in the room which ended up being useful because we had a few unwanted visitors during our stay. The hotel common areas were stunning and beautiful, as mentioned above almost like a museum, and worth the visit by itself. The movie room was particularly interesting where you can login to your Netflix account and project a movie on the large screen and even have the possibility to order a set dinner or lunch box. Breakfast was outdoors close to the river in an enjoyable venue to start the day. The a la carte menu was quite good with a mix of western and Asian options including attractive and upscale protein dishes. One evening we ordered cocktails at their seating area near the dock which is very nice, but the cocktails were quite weak and nowhere near the caliber of drinks at Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental, or Waldorf Astoria. In my opinion the bar is a point of improvement at The Siam. The service during our stay was very good and definitely more resort-style which means down to earth and relaxed. Also the hotel being quite small it’s easier to be recognized by staff and the GM is quite visible and available to guests at all times so he sets the tone for the rest of the staff. Overall this hotel can be ideal for people looking for a small and private boutique hotel with a resort feeling and a sharp break from the ordinary, because of its charming historical rooms and beautiful common areas. It is almost impossible to compare with more modern or renovated hotels elsewhere in the city who provide more traditional luxury rather than ‘antique’ luxury such as The Siam. The most loyal guests at The Siam will certainly not consider alternatives in Bangkok to be suitable for them.

From arrival to departure, this hotel showcased an exceptional service. The best staycation I’ve ever had this year! The team led by GM Nick and Director of Sales & Marketing Khun Tarn welcomed me. Check in was a breeze and I was introduced to Khun Gub, the butler who then escorted me to my room. He was engaging and knowledgeable about the property while he gave me a short tour of the hotel facilities before going to my appointed room. They have given me a beautiful riverview room which was so spacious and charming. Their bed is so comfortable that I ended up sleeping for over 10 hours which I don’t do normally. The BEST bed! This place made me feel so relaxed. Food service and quality is top notch. The hotel is the best Instagrammable location in the city with its unique art deco all over the place and its awesome greenhouse. If you need tranquility, serenity and ultimate relaxation, this is a highly recommended hotel. The service is exceptional, warm and friendly. I spent half of the day taking photos and admiring it at the same time! Another important thing to highlight is the safety and hygiene measures being implemented in the property in a subtle, non intimidating way and of course not to miss sustainability initiative as simple as having a reusable, refillable water container ( I love it and I brought it with me for my daily run sessions at the park ) which is an ingenious program called #RefillNotLandfill. This is an uber luxe place away from the hustle and bustle. You will never be disappointed. Highly recommended. Kudos to the team!

With the current pandemic and travel restrictions, we consider ourselves lucky to be able to still have the opportunity to stay at The Siam. If you're considering whether or not to stay here - having just returned, don't hesitate to book because we would go back in a heartbeat. Having stayed in most of the 5 star hotels downtown, this was a refreshing and utterly astounding property that was able to transport us (within a 30 minute drive) to a resort-like heaven. The property, like most other reviewers mentioned - is beautifully (and functionally) decorated. From the moment you enter to the lobby, and are taken along to your room, the service and hospitality of the team shines through. Our main butler K. Than and K. Sumet took care of us throughout our stay, and without being too intrusive. We asked K. Than, through the complimentary mobile used to communicate (available in all rooms), to book us a spa session during our short one night trip and it was confirmed within 5 minutes. The spa is not to be missed, the therapists were friendly but more importantly their technique was out of this world. Back to the rooms - we stayed in a Pool Villa Courtyard with a private swimming pool, and 2nd floor to overlook the property, a comfy king-sized bed and a gigantic bathtub that you could almost do laps in. Waking up with the sound of falling water from our private water feature outside in the pool, and birds flying around. We forgot more than once that we were still in Bangkok. A big thank you to K. Bib who made all the special arrangements in such short notice for our stay, and to the entire team who highlights the importance that service - the extra special touch - makes all the difference it the hospitality industry.
