Hotel is nice and located in the heart of the city. Rooms are very comfortable. The garden in the back is one of the most lovely places in Kathmandu. Even if you don't get a chance to stay in the hotel, you should try the restaurant and their delicious buffets on Fridays. Our stay was especially blessed by Jayesh the restaurant manager, who was very kind and helpful to us during our whole stay there and Pramila was also very kind and gave very good service. All the security guards were also very helpful to us, whenever they anticipated we needed any help with transport or anything. Wonderful place to stay!

Staff was very polite and gentle. Always ready to help. Great food and great service. Clean , organised and comfy environment. If in kathmandu u must stay in Shangri-La you won't regret it. Also have fast wifi service .

will advice hotel management to once visit this hotel. dont know how it comes under 5 star category. it is just like local C class lodge. dont know from were to start and where to end. rooms were in very very bad condition. ac not working and having huge sound, hot water comes only till 10 AM. changed my room locker twice but still had problem and later said they cant help in that, room gate was not getting close properly, max power plugs not working.. these were room issues.. now hotel security guard doesnt have manners how to talk with guest. they point the finger on u and argue. someone hold me else i would have slapped him only. rest hotel staffs the way they were also behaving or replying wasnt of some 5 star staffs. i am a proud member of Round Table Nepal and in past we have done lots of business with Shangri-la hotel but now in future i will see they wont get any business from our club members. will recommend everyone never ever select shangri-la for staying..…

Recently my was asked to visit the hotel for lunch and she asked me to join her. Both of us live in Kathmandu and are familiar with the hotel especially the coffee shop and gardens. The reason for the invitation was to be "extras" if you like in a promotional video which was highlighting the safety and security measures taken by hotel management and staff to safeguard guests. We were treated very very well and much of the credit should be forwarded to Babita who I think is the Marketing Manager. We had a lovely day and of course will continue to visit the hotel for the coffee shop facilities and possibly the pool. The garden is sooo relaxing and the staff attentive. Thank you.

The hotel is not part of the International ShangriLa Chain. The rooms are dated. Our air conditioning (HVAC) did not work. After three requests to repair we were told to open a window and they would get us a fan. The fan never came. Front desk staff seem intimidated and unaccommodating.

ラジンパット通りに面したこちらのホテルは、カトマンズにある老舗ホテルの一つです。ネワール様式をセンスよく取り入れた屋内外はとても素敵で、落ち着いた雰囲気を作り出しています。また、地元の文化を大切にしている事が多く感じられ、その一つの例として、部屋に置いてある印刷物の多くは、ネパールの手漉き紙の「ロクタ」が使われており、とても可愛らしいものでした。 また、レストランがある綺麗な中庭も、外の喧騒とは打って変わって静かな雰囲気を作り出しており、朝食に訪れるとひやっとした空気と緑でリフレッシュできます。 プールの脇にはマシンが一台、ルームランナー三台の小さなジムもあり、筋トレが欠かせない人も、安心です。 スタッフは親切で礼儀正しく、色々な相談に柔軟に対応してくれます。入り口のセキュリティーもとても親切です。 真新しいホテルには無い温かみが感じられ、家に帰ってきたような感じが私のお気に入りです。 The service of the hotel is one of the best in Kathmandu and nothing negative I could find. Room is nicely furnished with much of woods in a traditional way very comfortable, cozy and relaxing. Loved very much their attitude respecting the Nepali traditional cultures. For example, the hotel directory, tissue case and room service menu are printed on the NEPALI handcrafted paper which is called “Lokta”. Those were just one of the example but it is very lovely. I've been going to the Shangri-la for some 30 years. The garden is an oasis of calm in Kathmandu, and the hotel staff are tops, especially my friends the doormen and F&B Mr. Jeet. Best of all is Elle's Salon, tucked into an arcade where Tulip, Sharmila, Meera and all do the best facials and hot oil head massages in the world -- I'm not kidding. Shangri-la's salads are always a delight, safe and tasty, followed by a big bowl of ice cream. My favorite stop in Kathmandu.

This hotel does NOT deserve its stars, on the positive side, the hotel is very nice looking from the outside when you arrive, and the garden is beautiful. The security is nice and you feel very safe. The staff in the reception, elevators and the ones that clean the rooms on a daily basis is very nice and helpfull. The room is okay, but there are stains on the walls, dirty shower curtain and the aircondition does not work, so we got a fan.. at a five star hotel... We got massages wich was okay, but the facilities are not. It is located in a building outside of the hotel right down to the streets, so all you can hear while getting your massage is trafic noice and whistles. Also note that they charge you ekstra 10% Service and 13% Vat, which was not written in the menu or elsewhere until we got the bill. The restaurant is absolutely DISGUSTING! The food is laughable, and not what you would expect at a five star hotel. The healthy buffet consist of dry vegetables, meely fruits and sour yoghurt with lumbs. The utensils are dirty, the food is not kept in a sanitary way. In fact the staff working in the restaurant does not seem to have any training in food safety or personal hygiene. They touch the food with their bare hands and pick up food and put it back in the bowls. One staff member picked up a spoon from the floor and placed it right back in the food. We would NOT recomend this hotel!…

Overall I had a very pleasant experience here. My room was clean and had everything I needed and food was good. The proximity to Thamel is also very convenient. The breakfast buffet was excellent. I would say that the WiFi was good in my room and in common areas, but in the event space my organization was renting, it was rather poor. Otherwise, it was a very pleasant experience.

I have stayed at the Shangri La many times over the years. From the twins (Laxman and Raj) who look after the front desk to the cleaning and reception staff - the quality of service is excellent overall (see note below). The rooms are good but the gardens are the hidden gem of this hotel. A tranquil oasis amongst the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu. The Shangri La is well positioned in the dipomatic quarter and close to crazy shopping in Thamel! The last time I visited (in 2019) I have to say I was very disappointed by the level of service in the restaurant - especially at breakfast. Many of those serving were very surley and appeared totally disinterested which really goes against the smiling faces on show across the rest of the hotel. This was a real shame as over the years there have always been friendly staff who have been very engaging. With several other 4 star hotels in the area the Shangri La needs to be careful as I am sure people will start voting with their feet and choose other hotels - which would be a shame. Shangri La - you have a great hotel and many great staff. Please sort out those working in the restaurant and make dining a far more pleasant experience!…
