My dad and I had a wonderful stay in the Exotic House in October 2019. The rooms were clean and the breakfast was very nice. The owner (Sunil), his family and employees were very kind and helpful and made our stay in the hotel and also our trip through Nepal as a great experience. They guided us for two weeks without being too pushy. We would recommend this hotel definitely!

the hotel was a good place to wander around Katmandu. I tended to walk around and this place was ideal. Room was clean and spacious. A friendly, family atmosphere. Only problem was my hot water was cut off due to building work taking place, but they quickly moved me into another room, problem solved. I enjoyed my time there.

Lovely hotel! Clean, unique and comfortable. Me and my friends stayed there for four days in which we felt like we were at home. The hotel stuff and the owners were super helpful, specially when it came to giving us directions and tips of places to visit. We will stay one night in Kathmandu before heading home and we will stay with them again for sure.

We stayed there for 7 nights in total. We’ve been given our room early as we arrived around 11am-12pm. This is a family run guesthouse. They have no one staying at that time, we were the only guest and they have more rooms. We feel they are “sneaky”. It’s monsoon season in Nepal, the weather is hot when it’s not raining and cool when it’s has rain. The rooms was advertised have AC and TV, but when we arrived there are no remote controls. I asked for remote control to the housekeeper, but he never come back to us. First 2 nights we didn’t have AC nor a fan. Room temperature was hot and humid at night, made it very hard to fall sleep. On the 3rd day, we had conversation with the owner saying we need AC (not even care about the TV), they said AC is broken but they can fix it the day after, they can give us a fan. In fact, no one fix the AC during our stay there. We knew they won’t do anything about it. But if they don’t want to provide AC better not to advertised room comes with AC. They also have travel agency, they try to earn more money by asking our plans (like most place in Nepal), they weren’t pushy but you know they want your money. No daily cleaning unless you ask. Some nights we could barely sleep with humid temperature and dogs barking, lots of dog around, they bark non stop from 10pm-5am. Earplug doesn’t help at all. The place itself is modern and clean for Nepal standard and hot water available. Wifi is slow and not reliable. Need to walk 10-15 mins to heart of Thamel (might be challenge for some people especially at night). I would NOT RECOMMEND this place as they are not an honest person. Lots of “marketing” words come out of their mouth. Many other accomodations as clean and affordable as their price.
