I have to say that Lake Victoria Serena Serena Golf Resort has a great location overlooking Lake Victoria. The staff was polite and friendly. My reason for giving it such a poor review was that the lousy food in the restaurant. There was only a buffet available and the choice of dishes wasn't very good. What was available was tasteless. The only I could eat was cheese which was available at both breakfast and dinner. It's hard to believe that what is supposedly a five-star hotel offers its guests such bad food. The hotel has to improve this.

It’s only day one of my retreat but I am already so impressed I will pen an early retreat. First off, this hotel has the most impressive COVID-19 control measures I have yet seen. The condition of my room is so impressive I want to stay here a little longer. The drumhead thundering shower! Sad the hotel failed to guarantee me a room with the view that I wanted. I have no idea why. The walk in the golf course this morning hearing the sounds of the birds and seeing the rising sun peeping over the horizon, the dew on the immaculate greens is really an amazing experience. The breakfast on the terrace was amazing. The omelette with cheese is one I will remember a while. Dinner was underwhelming, with no conviction, non-committal neither Ugandan nor continental. I really want to make this place part of a routine holiday at least a few times a year …

As part of our continuous commitment, our protocols have been designed to ensure an ultimate guest experience and the well-being of our staff. I also appreciate the fact that you liked our serene environment and the breakfast especially omelette with cheese. It is indeed regrettable that the food served during dinner was below your expectation. I have shared your concern with the chef so as to include variety of dishes to suit different tastes. I appreciate that we might not get it right all the time but would hope that when there is a lapse, we really try to rectify it during the guests stay, to ensure that they leave us feeling happy and relaxed. Please accept my sincere apology for not informing you at the point of check-in as to why you were not given a room with a view you wanted. Majority of the rooms were disinfected and left for 24hrs before being allocated to any guest as a measure to prevent Covid-19. Decided to visit the resort and have a meal whilst taking a look at the amenities. The staff at the restaurants were prepping for a function, I had requested a meal at the restaurant but was told it would be better to go to the pool. Went to the pool, no chairs available, I had to ask the staff to set up some chairs. Took them ten minutes to attend to that, waitress completely not interested in our presence. Eventually menus were given to us completely filthy and sticky. We decided to go up to the restaurant, was told that we cannot eat there because it is a buffet lunch. So, I couldn’t eat at the pool and the restaurant. All this while, all staff completely lackadaisical. Asked for the general manager but he too was nowhere to be seen. Not 5 star service, absolutely pathetic

This is our third stay at Lake Victoria Serena and we love it every time. The hotel has such a calm and tranquil feel to it. From the moment you arrive at the front gate the service is great. It is good to see such attention to detail on COVID and to know the staff are being thorough and take it seriously. Our room was lovely - very comfortable and relaxing and with a beautiful view. As you sit on the balcony you just feel you are away from any stresses and worries. Staff were great. Exceptionally friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We will be back!
