Detailed Reviews
Great price for extra friendly staff, comfortable rooms (though if it is hot, ask for a fan), hot water in the showers, great location near the airport and walking distance from some restaurants and famous cultural shows or a short ride to other places in town.
Don't miss going around the corner t o Salem - a crafts area where you can watch craftsmen do their work, and buy quality products that help women.
Breakfast (included) has a buffet and they will make eggs to order. Much better than the quality of other places in town that charge much more.
Airport shuttle is great - whenever you want to go and always friendly drivers.

I stayed in Hotel Lobelia for a total of 5 nights during 3 separate times in July. The hotel is conveniently located, just a 10min drive from Bole international airport, & a free hotel airport shuttle is provided. This was perfect for me as I had to fly in & out of Addis Ababa a couple of times as I traveled around Ethiopia. Besides being close to the airport, the hotel is also very close to many other establishments, such as restaurants, cafes, shops, mall, etc. There is also an ATM just outside the hotel lobby so this was extra convenient.
The 3 different rooms I stayed in during my 3 separate stays were all spacious, satisfactory, & clean. The bed was quite comfortable, & the wifi worked well in the room. There was also a separate seating area. A menu for the restaurant, as well as all the services offered by the hotel are also conveniently provided on the desk in the room. The bathrooms are quite small, however, and can use some upgrades, but overall it was fine, and the hot water shower was great. On one of my stays, I did end up getting upgraded to one of the suites, which was a very big room with a very big bathroom.
They serve a buffet breakfast which typically included traditional Ethiopian dishes, and sometimes eggs & pancakes, in addition to toast, fruits, juices, coffee, & tea. Besides breakfast, food is available all day at their restaurant, as well as room service. The food at the restaurant is quite good so I did eat here a couple of times. Laundry service was also good – I dropped it off just before 8:30am & got it back just after lunch. They also have luggage storage, which I used to store my big backpack, while I traveled to other parts of Ethiopia with just a small backpack.
The overall service is really good here; plus, all the staff, from the reception to the restaurant to the shuttle service, are really nice, friendly, & accommodating. There was always someone to answer any questions and provide any assistance needed, which I really appreciated. This hotel is definitely good value for a short stay in Addis Ababa with easy access to the airport.

A really lovely place, which sums up all that's best in Ethiopia. Arriving exhausted after an overnight flight, I was offered check-in four hours early without even asking, and with no request for an extra fee. Was then offered breakfast for free, though I hadn't paid for it - a lovely buffet, eaten on their rather sweet balcony. All of this made me smile and remember why I love this country.

+1
Lobelia is a great place to stay if you are visiting Addis. It is close to the airport with a free shuttle and we were made very welcome by the staff when we arrived. We had suites and the rooms were spacious. They weren’t luxurious, but good value for the cost of our stay; much nicer to stay here than in an anodyne 5 star chain.
The breakfasts were tasty with a good choice of food to suit local and western tastes (I enjoyed a spicy start to the day).
The staff were helpful, we were particularly pleased that they fixed us up with an amazing guide - Mr.Abay (Abuja). We had 3 days to fill and he ensured we were immersed in the culture and history, taking us to places in the city we’d never dream of visiting ourselves. We also drove out of town to visit some incredible sites during our stay.

I have stayed at this hotel several times so it was good to return and see how they were faring post covid.
The big advantage , as far as I am concerned, is the location. It is close to the airport ( can walk at a pinch but would not recommend with heavy luggage) and the airport shuttle arrived promptly and takes just a few minutes to get to the hotel. It is close to a lot of restaurants and coffee shops which offer food other than local but many local restaurants too. Busy area and also very close, about 200 yards, to Yod Abyssinia which is a cultural club. It is also walking distance to PCR testing sites for those who still need them pre travel.
The staff are generally very good. Reception lets them down a bit as can be short. The breakfast is ok and restaurant food is acceptable.
The rooms are simple and, I think, more simple since the pandemic which makes sense for hygiene purposes. The room provides everything needed but I do not understand just the one of everything including only one coffee cup.
The main drawback is just how much of a building site surrounds it. The road outside is not surfaced and in the rainy season is a terrible mess. Not the hotel’s fault . The building work is noisy but finished every evening around 10 which was fine.
Yes, the hotel needs updating and a lick of paint but represents good value for money and I will visit again if in Addis.

We were recommended this hotel by our tour company Armaye Tours as we did not really do much research. Good hotel, very close to Bole International airport and the rooms are clean and spacious. Breakfast is varied and well supplied, with different squeezed fruit juices every morning! Luckily we were dropped off and picked up by our Tour Company but Shuttle service available when leaving. The Staff is very smiling and attentive to customers. A big thank you to the whole team for their professionalism!

The place is ok for a night or two, especially if you are on a layover. It's conveniently located in Bole close to the airport and to some restaurants and bars. Complementary airport shuttle 24/7. Breakfast is available but limited.
The rooms are ok. They are clean but desperately need renovation. In my room, the floor was full of scratches and the color was coming off, the furniture was old and partly broken, the curtains had holes, bedsheets and towels were almost falling apart. Still, for a night it was ok if you don't have high expectations and cleanliness matters more to you.
What I didn't like was that I booked a suite room (Genius upgrade from booking.com) but upon my arrival I was given a standard room. The reception didn't inform me about that, I just noticed when I entered the room. When I asked about it, they told me that the room was not available because someone had Covid and couldn't check out. However, the hotel has several suite rooms (and when I checked the night before for a friend, there were still suites bookable). So it seems they just didn't want to give me the room upgrade... I also asked them before my arrival to check about an event that was supposed to happen in a nearby hotel the night of my arrival, but they never did.

I gave this hotel a five star, not because of it's fancy oversized lobby, a majestic driveway, bellman that looks like an airline captain or other superficial amenities that doesn't add any value to your comfort. It has none of that! I gave it a solid five star based on the professionalism and kindness of the people who work for the hotel. I stayed in room 406 for 11 days, and I have nothing but awesome things to say about my stay. Housekeeping was on point, thanks to Tesfu and Ayenalem. Bar and Cafe crew Yodit, Fre, Danny, Girma, Betty, Amarech and Meseret. Make sure to ask for the "special tea" that makes come for more! They even made me in-house stomach flu remedy that was sent to my rooom. Few hours later, I was well and out the door. I was picked up by a very polite shuttle driver Mr Tefera, he waited even though my flight delayed, and dropped off by another great driver Mr Sisay. All the front-desk crew Elsi, Rekik, Meron and Betty are beyond their great smiles ready to help. If you need an honest help getting around Addis, shopping or a guide outside Addis, ask for Mr Abay, he was a real help during my stay, his # +251911088052.
Finally I want to thank Mr Samson, the general manager of the hotel who took the time to talk to me, and for being a good boss to his employees. I will definitely stay here again, if you're an experienced traveller that appreciate value, Hotel Lobelia is for you!

Thank you for reaching out to us. Our hotel is located only 1.5Kms ( 5mins drive ) from the airport and at a distance of 9kms ( 20mins drive ) from the AU conference Center.
Please do let us know should you have any further questions.

Hi Alex, the shuttle was very easy to find - at the carpark just outside the terminal (different car park if international or domestic, so make sure to tell them). I have used many shuttle services from different hotels in AA, and this is definitely the most reliable. All the best. A.
You need to book. If in transit for more than 8 hours then Ethiopian Airlines will generally give you free hotel room presuming you are flying with them international and internal leg. Look at their we site for details. They have just opened big new hotel mainly for this purpose. .
Yes. We accept MasterCard, Visa, UnionPay & American Express. You can also use an ATM nearby to pay your bills with cash .
