Hotel was in the Main Street of Gondar. Smooth quick check in and check out. Staffs are nice friendly helpful. Rooms are decent, spacious. WiFi is good in room and at reception. Hot water for shower available. Was a bit noisy due to facing street side when open window. Room service was good and quick. Food is decent. Breakfast has good selection with eggs made to order

To be honest, this place is not as good as the reviews had be believe, nor is it particularly cheap (Although to be fair it seems that accommodation in Addis is rather exorbitant). I would say that for the price you pay, it is comparable to what you would get in a developed first world city like Singapore or Paris.

Rooms are clean and bug free (which it seems is never a given in Ethiopia), and the wifi is quite good (also not a given in Ethiopia). However, the location, to be blunt, is HORRIBLE. It's not just a little out of the way, it is on a horrible non-road that taxi drivers cannot find and will charge you extra to go to. There are no amenities around. If the good authorities of the city ever choose to seal the road by the hotel (and in the area), then the hotel may be better located... but for now, it is a long, bumpy, and expensive ride to anywhere in the city, including decent eateries, sites, and the airport.

However, I was impressed by the service. I had unwittingly left some money and ID cards in the room during my week travelling throughout Ethiopia, and they kept it safe for me without stealing anything. I had left a lot of money, especially for a country like Ethiopia. This earned them an extra star from me, as many lesser places could easily have just stolen some or all of my money.

I travel a lot to Addis, and was very lucky to be one of the first customers in this Brand new hotel. Very cooperative staff, very convenient location, especially when you think that half of Addis Ababa is under construction and going about your daily business in the traffic is hectic.
Moving about in Addis from this location compared to other areas was absolutely great in saving my time.

The WiFi, I used to try to find spots where I could access internet ... and in Addis this is a job in itself! The hotels WiFi is really good and for those who are in constant need of internet access, which is pretty fast by Ethiopian standards is A God sent. And it's free!

Good job and from their new beginnings, believe it will not be my first time to stay there.

I would say its the best value for money anywhere in Addis Ababa.

Stayed in this brand new hotel for a week. Excellent service, very clean and tidy hotel. It was very convenient location to all parts of Addis which made my short one week stay in Addis easier. Close proximity to Airport too. I would highly recommend it to any one planning a trip to Addis.

Very nice and clean hotel in addis. Not too far from airport and very close to Bole. The area looks a bit sketchy but is very safe and quiet.
If you stay in the hotel, and need a taxi for touring the city or going places, ask for Tilahun. He is a gem of a person. Does not overcharge, very patient, will not try to scam or take you to souvenir shops.

Passionate about football, especially manchester United. He took us to several bars in the city where we caught the premier league games. Shared a few beers and listened to his life story as a nurse for an NGO.
His mobile is +251911417985.

I did stay for about one week in this hotel, it is quite nice and clean. the staff are just great. the drawback is location as it is not on the main road, and as such, you need to call a taxi every time you go out. I must warn you of 2 taxi drivers that are on call with the hotel, the drivers are " Lama and Asho the thief " , they are both very rude and cheats. You are better off taking other drivers or walking to main road and catch a cab there.

We were very happy with our stay at the Ag Palace. They were one of the few places that let you pay by Visa, which was nice and the hotel restaurant, while not amazing, was at least reasonably priced. It is so new that our driver had a hard time fiding us.

If you get an airport pickup and you do'nt see anyone at the main gate inside the airport, be sure to go outside and down the ramp, which is where most of the drivers have to wait.

The staff was very helpful. Some noise from the street was audible in the room but we fell asleep anyways. Rooms were small but clean and good wifi. CLose to the airport.

I was here for a month to work at the Tikur Anbessa Hospital. Not being from Ethiopia I thought the street was a little unusual for a hotel, but there is another just down the street and another around the corner. The neighborhood was nice, there are a couple schools around so the late afternoon is full of kids yelling outside in the distance. The rooftop patio is great for pictures and seeing the sunset. My room was clean and cleaned daily if I wanted. Toilet was like many in developing countries and couldn't handle toilet paper. I never lost hot water. Electricity went out a few times, but they used a generator at night or after an hour or so in the day. Internet was a bit more touchy. The restaurant was great for Ethiopian or Western food. All were prepared right in front of you by the wonderful ladies in the kitchen. None of it disappointed, and all were large portions. The staff always helped and was usually successful in solving my problems. The only drawbacks were the Internet failing 2-3 times per week for hours at a time and the distance from the city center.

I usually travel to Addis on vacation. Its my home town :).

But aside vacation, I do go on business as well, at least once a year.

There are downsides of staying in any hotel in Addis... mainly the problems related to access to move around within the city due to aggressive infrastructure investments - and I am mostly talking about where i do go, and the once that affect my mobility there - and these are the arterial roads within the city and especially the LRT - light rail construction.

Hence, with trial and error - I kind of settled in Ag Palace hotel.

Ag is located in between two major roads .. on the north side, Thankfully, there is a finished road - keep forgetting its name - but has access to anywhere that one wants to visit in Addis. Once you are on that main road, the ring road intersection at 'Megenagna' is perhaps a 3-5min car drive without traffic. and on the South side is the major bottle neck right now - the one that the LRT is being constructed.

Since Ag is almost midway between the 2 roads, Its very accessible to the city. Only thing is the Road that connects these is a typical un-asphalted road, and its a bit bumpy and hence feels it takes forever - when it actually is less than a minute by a car, and an easy 3-5minutes to walk.

And the good part, if you ask for a taxi, the hotel arranges with their free-lance taxis, and though you need to negotiate with the taxi drivers for the daily/hourly need as you need - the taxi's don't outright mention ridiculous rates. seems that they want repeat customers and are reasonable as compared to the taxi's i did take while in town.

I stay at Ag cause after all that traffic, and construction going on in Addis, the Place provides a welcoming atmosphere, with all things that you could expect from a very well family managed hotel.

They take care of the small things - you are guaranteed to have hot running water at all times (the water heaters for the showers and running water are actually in the bathroom) and not centrally heated, and they have a generator that kicks in when power is out (as is mostly in Addis at one time or the other) - and hence, i never had to complain that there is no hot water till date. (you will complain even at the the bigger hotels - have been there).

Smaller rooms as compared to 5 stars, but the rooms i did stay in (i usually prefer the east facing once with balconies - as i do like to see the sunrise in addis in the morning - which is beautiful) are well cleaned, tidy and all things in their right places. I even go to the terrace some morning to see the city waking up. pretty cool.

I am a big news junkie - and they do have international channels - which are clear, both in the rooms as well as in the lobby / restaurant.

The wifi - compared to quite a bit of places i stayed in, as well a couple coffee shops including high end once at other place, is really good. especially at early mornings and late nights.

The included breakfast, is a buffet. a good selection. and lunch and dinner .. made to order. a very good option for me as they have both Ethiopian and western dishes - and quite tasty.

In All, other than the drive in and out on the bumpy road to the main roads - I feel that the place is a good bargain for all the things i seek in addis.

Good job on the part of the management and stuff.
