No doubt the best Addis Abeba has to offer. We found ourselves there at the same time as Angelina Jolie. Some may feel that the hotel’s luxuriance is a disconnect from the city and that’s certainly true. But, as an escape, it’s really quite beautiful. The gardens are perfectly manicured and bursting with flowers, and there’s even a jogging path for the sporty-minded. The rooms are what you would except from this type of international, five-star establishment… very comfortable and rather classic in style. We arrived very early in the morning, but were immediately allocated a room… which was greatly appreciated. Unfortunately, luck was not completely on our side as there were several issues with it. The door onto the terrace didn’t close properly and neither did the safe. I have to credit the hotel staff with the prompt way in which they reacted to the issues and the service throughout was excellent. However, the safe proved a hard nut to crack and after an hour, we ended up being moved to another room. We originally thought of eating at the Summerfields restaurant, but we were in a hurry and the only option was a rather overpriced (for Ethiopia) buffet. So, we ended up at the Italian restaurant instead, which was fine rather than fantastic. One thing we did appreciate about the hotel was the fact that they have their own bank—very handy for exchanging cash, which is necessary if you’re travelling around in Ethiopia as it’s complicated to use your credit card in many hotels outside the capital.

Excellent hotel with fine service. Breakfast is plentiful, varied and good. Rooms are large and clean. TV and wifi are very good. Grounds are beautiful with fountains and gardens. Pool and pool area is a delight. If you put your ears under water in the pool, you hear music. The hotel is pricey, particularly if you want to buy bottled water which requires a room service charge.

We booked our last night in Addis at the Sheraton months in advance but our flight was cancelled a week prior to travelling so we ended up with a 1.25 am flight and no room (I tried to book a late checkout but the hotel was fully booked due to the African Union Meeting, of which I was unaware). Well, the staff could not have been more accommodating with us!! We were allowed to store our luggage after check out and even to use the SPA to take a shower and change before going to the airport. All the time every single member of staff was very efficient, professional yet friendly and smiling, thank you so much! We had booked a balcony room (unfortunately our view was at the front, with construction works going on...so ask for a room with garden/pool view) which was adequate albeit dated. The bathroom was very dated and the aircon very noisy and not very effective. The grounds, pool, gardens were great and pleasant. Airport pick up was perfect (they were waiting for us as we stepped out of the terminal) despite the crazy traffic due to the AU meeting. Our driver was very good and still smiling despite the terrible traffic jams! Breakfast was very good. Dinner in the indian restaurant was not very good and quite expensive compared to anywhere else in Addis (considering the food quality). In summary: amazing staff , great grounds but dated rooms.

I have been staying at this hotel off and on for the past 23 years and my last stay is probably my final stay as the services were well below my expectations. The Hotel is dirty and not properly cleaned, long black hairs found in the bedding, lumpy beds obviously beyond their life expectancy. The telephones in the room are non functioning, I could barely call the room next to me. The TV's were not working the entire four day stay, they come on a go off. Asked to have them fixed and they actually made them worse. The internet only worked in the lobby, not very professional to work in the lobby. The internet was the most frustrating issue, as the hotel stated the internet was out fore the server, the hotel my friend stayed in had internet???? The price demanded does not warrant the product offered, shame on Luxury Collection for allowing this brand to continue and not is surely not LUXURY

We have passed your comments to the concerned department. I am sorry about the lack of connectivity in the rooms during this stay. We did have an outage to the connections in all the rooms but this was out of the hotels direct control, however, our I.T. Director, and his team, worked throughout the nights to try and get the issue resolved as quickly as possible. The TV and telephone connections were also connected to the same network. Whilst this does not excuse the fact that this issue caused our guests inconvenience, as quite a lot of our guests are here on business and connectivity is a major work tool, which we do understand. It is never pleasant to learn of a valued guests’ dissatisfaction, I do however appreciate the time you have taken to bring this matter to our attention as it is only through your valuable comments and feedback that we can evaluate our performance and focus on the areas that may need to be improved. A beautiful, full service hotel in old world style. Very kid- friendly. Probably the most posh and expensive hotel in the city. We only ate in the all-day restaurant, which makes a very good club sandwich and offers a terrific, included buffet breakfast. Prices are very high, compared to eating in a restaurant in the city. There is a large and nice swimming pool, with the water at a warm temperature. Lots of shallow area with kids at play as well as an adult area. Taking a walk outside the hotel, there is not much to see, but lots of pollution to take in. The palace, through which tours are offered, but which we did not visit, is a short walk from the hotel entrance. The Internet service was not working from about 8:00 pm. through our checkout the next morning. We were told that the problem was with the Internet provider. If you are a Bonvoy member consider booking directly with the hotel online, as a significant discount may be available.

Our visit at Sheraton was for the office bar to see the band and chill. since there was AU Summit we had a doubt so we call first and cheek if the band is perform they confirm the band will perform. But we still want to make sure so before we order any thing we asked for the waiter if the band is performing other wise we don't want to stay, she also confirm after we order a bottle of whiskys, 30 mints later they told as the band is cancelled because of AU Summit I mean at luxury hotel like Sheraton Au Summit is a surprise should the company not know earlier and tell for the customer accurate information?? so we ask for the manager to speak to us unfortunate we have to call him directly to bring him to the bar and it took him anther 45 min to come. he is unprofessional while talking to us and make as pay for full bottle we didn't drink. so we left the hotel with disappointment.

This was my first stay at the Sheraton in Addis. The facilities, especially the garden and the walking / jogging trail are wonderful. As a swimmer I greatly appreciated the heated outdoor pool. Room size is good and everything is clean. There is a choice of restaurants on the property and in a country with generally poor connectivity, the very well functioning WiFi in all areas of the hotel is a big bonus. Best of all though the extremely friendly, helpful and courteous staff.

After a flight cnx to Lailibela due to rare winter storm there we ended up here, as I had a reservation for the next night using Marriott points. The desk clerk did everything to make sure we got the lowest weekend rate, and upgrade to Executive level (I'm a Gold member), and a dinner voucher for one night. The concierge folks always worked extra hard when I requested a local tour, lost a contact lens cap (they delivered a fresh case in 30 minutes), etc. The hotel is gorgeous. Food was very good. The grounds are immaculate. It was a nice place to relax and enjoy walking on the jogging path and swimming in the heated pool before heading to Zambia for a safari, after which our long vacation was cut short due to Covid-19. This hotel epitomizes the absolute best of the Marriott brands.

My family originally rented a house in Addis for 2 months. When we arrived to Addis from the USA the house was nothing close to what we expected. It was so bad we couldn't stay in the house. We ended up getting a hotel room at the Sheraton for a couple nights while we looked for another house to rent. We couldn't find another house to rent so we decided to stay in the hotel. We told the general manager "Mr Addis Alemayehu" about the situation. Him and his staff were extremely accommodating. They were able to get us an upgraded room at no additional cost for the full length of our stay so that our stay could be pleasurable. There is no way we'd have been able to stay for a month in a regular room with our whole family. The level of customer service was great and the hotel itself was amazing. We will plan on staying here next time we are in the country as well.

My experience here was really unexpected. The concierge Jemaldin was helpful in making all the arrangements and even accommodating request to change money to pay to the tour company who credit card machine was not working.
House keeping kept the rooms clean with loads of water and attentive to request to change flower etc., They do all the hardwork with a smile and I did not forget that.
When I went for breakfast and said I had allergies the chef @ Summerfields immediately took action and ensured that I had special food for my breakfast.
The group I appreciated the most were the chef and staff at Shaheen. They made me feel so at home even though I was dining alone every night. They serve the best food and are always smiling. They were professional and engaged with the customer ensuring that the food was upto expectations. I am very grateful to them and will always remember them as they went all out to ensure that I was not unattended. In all my travels I never had anyone do this to me. On my last night at the hotel once I have finished my meal and ask for the bill, they were so cute and ask me to sit down instead of walking to the front. Then they switched off the lights and there came out a cake saying “Bon Voyage”. I felt so touched and I would like the management of the hotel to acknowledge their extra efforts and beyond my expectations customer services. Well done people Keep up the good work.
