Excellent value and comfort in a convenient location

Liked · Very friendly staff.
Extremely comfortable bed.
Fast internet (for Ethiopia)
Location near the Piazza and St George cathedral very good - especially for festivals
Free and effective airport transfers
ATM in the lobby run by the most reliable bank in Ethiopia
Good small bar with exceptionally cheap prices
Accomplished restaurant with good variety, even if the environment is a little sterile

Disliked · Hot water pressure dies to a trickle after around 4 minutes
Odd things not working (one bedside lamp, TV with a mass of off-colors
Remotes batteries dead)
It's a little like they don't have a checklist for rooms and general facilities - though this hotel is still the best of any I've tried in Ethiopia so this is a common problem

Myself and my partner stayed in this hotel on and off for 10 days whilst we travelled the North of Ethiopia, and we loved this hotel. We had to leave a lot of our luggage and valuables as we travelled, and the hotel kept it secure for us each time. The hotel arranged very early breakfasts for us and shuttle services to the airport. The staff were really friendly and it was all very organised. We ate a lot in the hotel, and the food was always excellent, such a high standard. I recommend the 'Vegetarian Special', although alongside traditional Ethiopian food they offer an array of European foods also. The rooms were always clean and spacious, with huge comfortable beds. There were staff available 24 hours a day, and the hotel had good wifi. We could not fault this hotel, and if we are ever in Addis we will stay again at the Regency.

A nice hotel with one of the best staffs you will ever encounter. Our three rooms were clean and comfortable and the 24 hour restaurant and bar were nice additional features. Breakfast was good as well. More than anything, the staff of this hotel is the number one reason I will stay there again on my next trip to Addis. At every turn they went above and beyond to accommodate our every need beginning with the hotel shuttle driver sticking around Bole airport until midnight after our flights were delayed and our luggage was lost. The Addis Regency took customer service to a whole new level for us. We will be back.

My first experience of Ethiopia was greatly facilitated by the friendly managers at the Addis Regency, who went beyond the call of duty to help with transport, visiting the city, and sorting out any difficulties. I was glad of the opportunities for really interesting chats, and look forward to seeing them again. I also thought the food was excellent - even for a vegetarian! Many thanks.

We stayed here as our base during an amazing Ethiopian experience. The hotel stored our things between visits (three stays) and gave a warm welcome back each time. The whole team really couldn’t do enough for us. We used the restaurant and bar facilities in the evenings to relax between excursions. They even did all the washing before we went home... with all services very keenly priced. Airport runs for our internal and international flights were all on time, with friendly safe drivers. The entire experience was smooth from start to finish. Many thanks to the management, catering and housekeeping teams. A memorable, happy and authentic stay.

We stayed here for a week. Enjoyable hotel with very cordial people. We had hoped for a little more space around the hotel, in terms of a terrace or so. But the hotel itself is very clean, with large rooms and a very good restaurant with local and international dishes on the menu.

We chose this hotel based on Trip Advisor reviews. While it may not be in the heart of the Piassa or near the main tourist activities, it wins out by the service and value it provides travelers. Most room rates include: round trip airport transfers, wifi (many routers in the hallway outside your room, and fast connection speed), and buffet breakfast which has an okay mix of continental and Ethiopian traditional foods. While the food was nothing special, it was a welcome way to begin the day.

The owner built this hotel on his father's land. It is one of the few hotels in this area, though a relatively easy walk to get you closer to things. I would definitely not describe this hotel's location as being in a very central location, but after a day or two of walking with a guide you will see it is easy to get places from here.

Try Morakar coffee just up the road for a very good, local coffee spot. Also please visit the local woman who runs a tiny bodega just 50 feet down towards the main road. She is very sweet and it is a great way to stock up on waters for the room and support a local family.

The hotel rooms were super clean and well maintained. My standard room was much more spacious than I was expecting. It came with a very nice sized bathroom, full closet, small flat screen TV with ample channel selection, and a fairly comfortable bed. I was super impressed by the in room safe that was big enough for a 15 inch laptop. Most hotels in the US don't have that yet.

Addis is building a metro train that, when completed in a few years, will have a stop right near this hotel. The hotel owner couldn't be nicer, and I think he is a visionary in terms of this old neighborhood being an up and coming area. Well done all around!

The hotel is secure and has guards at the entrance to both the driveway area and the front lobby.

The staff are all very kind and eager to help.

I stayed at the Addis Regency on four different occasions in 2012. More than anything, the establishment has achieved a welcoming atmosphere that other hotels in Addis have a hard time to match. The price is fair and the breakfast is all you could wish for. I would not stay at any other hotel when I come to Addis.

I stayed in on my first couple of nights in Ethiopia - it was absolutely perfect for a night or two's stop over- It has a nice small bar, a restaurant serving decent food, very clean good sized rooms, it's located in a quiet area but walking distance to the Piazza, St George Church etc, good sized bathroom and shower and the staff are very helpful and friendly. It doesn't have a pool or gym or big fancy lobby - but is perfectly resourced for a couple of nights, is secure and is reasonable priced.

The hotel is not in a very nice neighborhood so to speak but in a more historic location. There are plenty of local bars and restaurants. I use the hotel as a base to do what I need to do in Addis and the service is excellent (by Addis standards) that is why this hotel attracts very good reviews. You can go to the museum to view Lucy or go to the orthodox church to see king Haile Sellaise's tom or go to Addis University to See what used to be the king's palace and get an opportunity to experience his bedroom. I am not sure what else you can do at the hotel rather than to sip coffee and laze around.
