Staff at hotel were very pleasant throughout the weeklong stay. Dining both morning (breakfast was included) and evening, the quality of the food was good (ate for nearly every meal all week). Evening attending dining area staff were excellent.
Gym was one of the best I've encountered in my travels throughout Africa - truly excellent gym. Also had two massages while there, both were excellent, very professional and reasonably priced.
Room was a tad "tired", but was quite comfortable with my room having two nice leather chairs in which to relax after work. Plenty of electrical outlets to keep everything charged, however lighting could be improved with brighter bulbs. Safe, tea kettle, etc. were standard amenities and two bottles of water per day. Two areas of improvement - a bit of CLR on the faucet and showerhead would do wonders for water pressure, as both were "caked" with buildup. Second, toilet wall plate kept falling off (no impact to flushing mind you). Addition of small washcloths for use of body wash provided would also be much appreciated. I did have laundry done, and while base prices seemed reasonable, the two levels of tax added seemed to be an unfair shake, would strongly encourage "all in" price which is what I encounter at other hotels around Africa.
Would stay again, very close to UN, Radisson and national stadium.

The hotel was a good base to stay in while in Addis. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the room was large and benefitted from good natural lighting. The breakfast buffet was also excellent, with a good choice of pastries, an egg station, and lots of local Ethiopian food to sample. There were a couple of hiccups. We had asked to be picked up from the airport in advance, but our airport transfer was about half an hour late. Finally, on a couple of occasions there was no hot water in the shower, which seemed to depend on the timings.

Hayy I stayed at Inter Luxury Hotel, and a got good experience on Verity's of foods at revolving restaurant and also SPA service they offer. I recently stayed at Inter Luxury, expecting a luxurious experience based on my past stay there. Unfortunately, my stay was marred by a distressing encounter with the front desk manager, Samrawit, who is known for disrespecting the Ethiopian diaspora staying at the hotel.
When I checked in, I was asked to pay in advance. Since I arrived late from the airport and didn’t have cash, I paid only for one night. The next day, the receptionist called to ask if I was staying longer. I confirmed my stay and asked her if she could have Nardos, a previous front desk manager, arrange a better rate like my previous stay. I also mentioned to the receptionist that I had a busy day and couldn’t pay early in the morning.
At 3 PM, Samrawit called me in a very aggressive tone, saying that if I didn’t come and pay immediately, I couldn’t stay. I tried to explain that I had previously stayed at Inter Luxury and always paid the bill upon checkout. She refused and I politely asked her not to remove my belongings from my room, promising to pay the bill when I returned to the hotel after finishing my business.
The next morning, I paid the bill in advance to avoid any further inconvenience. Later, while walking by the front desk to notify the receptionist about a bathroom flush issue in my room, I was greeted with a cold and dismissive attitude. Despite having paid the bill in advance—a rule that Samrawit seems to enforce only for Ethiopian diaspora—she insisted there was an issue with my bill. In contrast, I discussed the billing process with other guests (foreigners) who mentioned they were not required to pay in advance. Instead of resolving the matter professionally, Samrawit resorted to rude and condescending remarks. Her behavior was uncalled for and completely unprofessional, making me feel unwelcome and disrespected.
I brought this matter to the attention of the hotel management, specifically Abera, hoping for a resolution. However, my concerns were largely ignored. The general manager acknowledged that I was the third person experiencing such issues with Samrawit but seemed unable to take effective action. Due to the continued disrespect from Samrawit, I decided to leave the hotel. The general manager suggested I should stay or be charged for a half day. Eventually, I accepted to take 50% refund rather than staying while being insulted. Then the receptionist told me that I need to come back after 3 days to receive the refund and when left the hotel the receptionist run to my car and d hand over the cash for the 50 % discount.
It’s disappointing that such a renowned establishment allows such behavior from its staff, especially in a role that should embody hospitality and customer service. While the hotel itself boasts beautiful facilities and amenities, the front desk manager’s insulting behavior overshadowed what should have been a pleasant stay. I hope Inter Luxury addresses this issue to prevent future guests from experiencing such treatment.
Please focus on customer service, not just on the money. Happy customers will be willing to spend more.

On the other hand, we are concerned to note that you weren't fully satisfied with me front office manager and General manager Mr. Abere, we understand and appreciate you opening up. With all respect, we have your one-night accommodation request, we expect guests to check out at midday as per your signed up registration card. Lucky, we have not sold out the room you are staying in. That leaves us a window to extend your stay as per your request that you approved after 15:00 while I make a call for clearance. We were informed that you will be back late in the evening so that we leave a window to settle the payment but extending two nights has been done though the communication on the 18th of July. All over the world, accommodation is guaranteed at the time of check in with an incidental guarantee so that we avoid inconveniences such as this. Please note that this is not reflected only on the diaspora only as you felt. We noticed that you had not come late at night, but the next day and you had paid after breakfast around 11:20 as per our system record. As you said you come from your breakfast to settle the payment and you were uncomfortable in the morning, I apologized for my colleagues and mine, even if there was a misunderstanding while you discussed with the General manager, that he acknowledged your loyalty in stays twice in 2021 and the 3rd visit accommodating you in 2024 not meaning the 3rd person to experience such issues . Please note that we closed breakfast at 10:00. Our hospitality business is based on and relies on only customer service, delighting our guests the best way we can. The establishment does have policies and procedures that need to be respected for smooth operational attention. We hope you understand and give us another opportunity. A famous German saxophonist Michael, who stayed here for more than 3 weeks, invited me to a lunch in here, and we had a pizza on the 9th floor by the pool bar, which has incredible view of part of Addis, mount Entoto. I love the view and the pizza was good. Except the out door glass windows being a bit dusty, everything was awesome. Coming back again for a swim by the bar.

I had a fantastic stay at Inter Luxury Hotel. The rooms were elegantly designed and offered breathtaking views of the city. I've stayed here many times and enjoyed it very much. Rooftop pool is a great place to watch sunset and eat supper. Morning traditional coffee made right in lobby is wonderful. Breakfast buffet has everything you could want, including chef making omelets to order. Housekeeping staff is friendly and helpful and adapts to your needs. Huge bus brings you to and from airport. Surrounding area has many good restaurants and coffee shops as well as shopping, eg. leather shop.

Hi, Deepak. The hotel's name is actually Intercontinental Addis Hotel; not InterContinental Hotel. (Notice the capital "c" in the latter.)
I have no idea how easy it would be for the real InterContinental chain to sue Intercontinental Addis, but I suspect it would not be easy.
There used to be a Mariott Hotel in Addis Ababa -- one "R" as opposed to the Marriott's two Rs. (There's now a real Marriott and the Mariott is gone.) So this is not the first time this has happened.
There are more places to choose from in the Addis Ababa area.
