Most people probably do not arrive by car (and you certainly won't need it in Fès!) but that proved to be the only "challenge" of our stay. Then again, it probably just heightened our sense of peace and relaxation once we arrived at the riad (or karawanserei, to be exact). What a lovely and charming courtyard. Stunning! So many beautifully appointed rooms to sit. We had a lovely suite with our own terrace. Great service, an excellent walking tour of the medina. Fès is a "must do" when you travel to Morocco; and Karawan Riad is the place to stay! It is located just on the edge of the old medina; so you can safely walk outside on your own (easier once you have taken a guided tour and got to know the layout of the surroundings a bit). A very stylish hotel with a very tasteful mix of old and new. Amazing details wherever you look.…
This Riad checked off all our boxes. It was small and intimate, only 7 rooms. In the Medina. Excellent food and Service. Beautiful large rooms. Hammam on property. Beautiful views. We only stayed for 2 nights but definitely wished we had a 3rd. There is nothing to dislike about this place. Do yourself a favor and make sure to be on their rooftop for sunset/call to prayer. It's magical.
We stayed at Karawan Riad for two nights in November 2019 and would definitely come back. The rooms were beautifully appointed and quiet, and service was top-notch. We especially appreciated that Karawan had breakfast ready for us at 6:30 am when we had an early departure from Fes even though this was outside of Karawan's usual breakfast hours.
This beautiful riad surpasses all others. It has been stylishly restored with spacious rooms featuring a wonderful art collection, every detail has been attended to. Our suite included 2 small private courtyards which were wonderful places to recuperate after walking the souk which is only 5 minutes walk away. The traditional hamman treatment is pure bliss. We ate in the licensed restaurant several evenings and the Mediterranean menu is excellent, Staff also provided very helpful advice on local restaurants serving traditional Moroccan food, and arranged for staff from those restaurants to collect us for dinner so that we could find them without getting lost. This riad has so beautifully restored that it featured in the 'Maison du Maroc' magazine in Sept 2016. We would not hesitate to stay again, and recommend it to anyone travelling to Fez.…
As a couple from New York City, we stayed at the Karawan for five days in December 2019 and would come back given any opportunity we would have. These palatial digs transport you to a time of Sultans and caravanserai, albeit lavishly updated with 21st-century whistles and bells. From here you can dip in and out of the medina with ease. In the rooms artefacts from all over the world combine with traditional Moroccan furniture and Islamic design features in eye-popping splendor. Super friendly and eager staff ensure your stay is a special one.
