Owner Mohammed and his assistant Imane speak impeccable English, and the whole staff is gracious and welcoming. We have spent a blissful week here, exploring with guides arranged by Mohammed, sipping mint tea on the rooftop terrace, reading in our peaceful, lovely room, and trying different Moroccan dishes every night. The breakfasts are also a treat — and include good coffee (important to me; I’m from Seattle!). There’s lots of hot water and good water pressure in the shower. Tea and cookies are served at at time. You can hear staff laughing together and enjoying each other’s company, which is one sign of a well-run enterprise anywhere in the world. Fes and the old medina sounded almost too exotic for comfort when I read about it. Instead, we found the best hospitality and most gracious people you can imagine. I would love to return. …
I loved stayed here. The hotel provided mint tea and cookies for the guest as often as you like. The staff was fantastic and full of wonderful suggestions for the city. The hotel location is a very short distance to a taxi stand, which is very rare for Fes. It’s a very short walk to the Medina and the hotel staff worked very hard to give top service. We had an early departure and they were able to accommodate us for an early morning breakfast.
My husband and I stayed for one night and loved our stay! Pros: - Location: Dar is set in Old Medina which only a 15 minute walk to the Blue Gate where there are restaurants, leather tanneries, world's first university, mosques & souvenir shops. Service: Great service. We were only here for one night and the staff was extremely helpful in planning our day by providing us with a highly recommended tour guide who was very knowledgeable about the old Medina. We would not have been able to see half the things without the tour guide. They also recommended the best way to get to the train station and the suggested cost. Breakfast: Basic breakfast, but was very good and fresh. Cleanliness: Rooms and the main Dar areas were very clean. Wifi: No problems with internet connectivity. It worked very well throughout our stay. Cons: - Rooms: Although the rooms were very clean, the bed was a bit firm if you are not used to it. My husband had no problem with the firm mattress. The bathroom was clean but a bit on the small side with no vent. Overall, we had an excellent stay here and would recommend it to anyone who in interested in visiting Fes - Old Medina!…
The staff were excellent and a special thank you to Imane who was very attentive and helpful. The location was just inside the Medina and close to the Blue gate (10 - 15 minute easy walk). Basic breakfast was good with freshly squeezed orange juice. Although this Dar was fairly new it still had the feel and look of a traditional Dar. Wifi was usable.
Our first trip to Morocco, and we traveled through the country for 17 days. We were fortunate to stay with the Dar Fes Medina team for three nights. They were the best of our trip, hands down. The location is fantastic: strategically staying at the edge of the Medina and near a Bab (gate) was brilliant. It allowed us to make small incursions into the Medina and remain somewhat aware of how to get "home". Imane was helpful in sending a driver to collect us from the train station. She also gave us a very useful map to get around our immediate area. That was a huge comfort point for us, allowing us a modicum of location awareness. Imane also helped us arrange for a Medina tour on full day #1 which was also really smart. When we went in to the Medina on full day two we kind of knew some things (I mean, I could just be delusional but I swear I recognized some areas we were in). The rooms were comfortable and very clean. The beds were the softest we encountered in the country. Their breakfast was the best we had. Staff were quiet but also so hospitable. Lovely place and if back in Fes, we'd stay here.…
