We stopped in for 1 night and had a good experience. Front desk / check in was quick and friendly. Room was clean and quiet. Breakfast was good. Not the biggest selection but still plenty to chose from. It was a good place to stop for the night

Overall, this hotel provides a comfortable stay. We booked a junior suite that was comfortable enough. Several spiders were in the room, but I think this was due to lack of housekeeping during this Covid-19 phase. We had no housekeeping service, but the staff were still great and provided fresh towels upon request. The bed was okay. The noise level was pretty loud, but it's not the hotel's fault that parents can't control their kids. The breakfast leaves alot to be desired. I understand the hotels are doing their best, but if you like a hot breakfast, you will be disappointed with their grab and go bags. The bags have juice, a fresh piece of fruit and a granola bar. I would definitely stay here again though, because they have great staff.

Comfortable, reasonably clean room and good quality for a very appealing price. The breakfast selection was greatly reduced since our last stay, apparently because of pandemic cautions. The room refrigerator, TV, heater, blow dryer, and coffee machine all worked well, and the coffee was well stocked. The early evening noise in the hall was more than we wanted to hear, but all was quiet after 10 p.m.

We switched from Hampton in Ames Iowa to Best Western Ames Iowa, the first two times we were happy with our room # 150, The Hotel appeared to take precautions. Last trip to the Best Western we did not feel the same way. Our room was filthy, We still wipe down the rooms we stay in with Clorox wipes and when we wiped this room down starting in the main room the desk, tv stand & end tables were not clean, the Clorox wipes were filthy, when we went to the bathroom the toilet was not clean so we wiped down everything in there except the shower. We pulled back the covers on he bed and it was not tight and crisp like hotels in nice hotels usually are. My wife comment was it looks like who ever cleaned this room does not usually clean rooms or this room has not been used for awhile. I reported to there front desk that the room was dirty and showed him the Clorox wipes, the response was I see that and I can get you a different room. We declined as we had just cloroxed the room, had unpacked and I had a meeting to go to in a few minutes.
In the morning we did not use the shower or the bathroom to not feeling safe by doing so and we would be at a different hotel in a different town by evening.
I typically fill out the Hotels questioner via email but it had expired when we got home from traveling. Staying in a Hotel during the pandemic makes us cautious and when we encountered this as we believe non clean room - we did feel it had the " We Care Clean " attention that is promised on your website.
Feeling safe in this time of covid 19 while traveling is important, was this a one time not clean room, probably but that one time not clean room for us mattered.

I stayed at this hotel for four days and was blown away by the lack of communication between the staff as well as to the clients. When I called to make a reservation I was told it would be a certain price, only to arrive and be told by a different person I had to pay higher than the manager told me on the phone. Then the following day a different employee told me a different price for my stay. It was absolutely ridiculous! They did end up refunding my card, although have yet to see the money, after having to go to the front desk on 3 separate occasions. We also never had a maid come to give us fresh towels or take the trash out and when we asked the front desk about it they said WE should have told them we needed that. Apparently it is a new policy due to COVID, which is fine but the staff never mentioned it so how would we know? Anyways, overall not impressed and will never stay here again.

We stayed here for two nights in mid-July. The front desk staff was friendly enough, although when we initially arrived the person who greeted us was not wearing a mask. We never checked out the breakfast options due to the virus so I can't speak to that. There was no information available in the room itself about breakfast and the front desk staff never mentioned it, so I assume that it was being served like normal but who knows. We didn't use the pool ourselves but saw that at least one family was in there, so it was open. My main complaint is specifically about housekeeping. When we arrived, I found that the bathtub wall had multiple long, dried hairs plastered to it and there were two dirty washcloths hidden in the shower curtain (hanging from the bar). We also found three empty water bottles in the toe space beneath our beds. It made us really question the cleanliness of the entire hotel. We closely inspected the sheets/bedding and they appeared clean (no lint or hairs). Why didn't I complain or change rooms? What's the point, if they're that sloppy in a "ready" room? Due to the virus, we were already traveling with a bunch of cleaning products, so I wiped all the hard surfaces down with a bleach spray and cleaned the bathroom myself. Why didn't I change hotels completely? This was paid for as a gift by a relative during our road trip and I didn't want to appear ungrateful. Lame. But that's the truth. Fact is, if you're reading this and in a position of choosing where to stay - I'd say steer clear of this place due to housekeeping. Pandemic or no pandemic.

Room is in need of a deep clean..dust on microwave & fridge (like you can see it thick not just they missed one cleaning), soap rings in tub, closet doors in need of repair that won't close, smoke detector dangling from ceiling, shower drain slow to where you are standing in ankle deep water. Outside entrance to the hotel is unsecured and doesn't latch or require a key to enter. Halls smell of smoke or pets. Parking lot full of holes.
Breakfast..had to ask for biscuits, forks, syrup, coffee cups. Only cheerios available, cold gravy (if there is any), apple juice cups no other options, no cream for coffee, no honey for tea (we were at breakfast by 8 am not end of service). No pastry or yogurt options.
Pool was closed. No receptionist available for checkout at checkout time to alert to room

Be aware of the front desk receptionist Debbie. She made me and the kids feel so uncomfortable and unwelcomed. To start she changed our room rate as were checking in because the employee who booked the room was no longer with the hotel. We should have received a call or email that our room rate was changing especially because we had a confirmation email. I called the front desk for some pool towels and Debbie said she was working on it, mind you she had been sitting there on her phone doing nothing. As we were in the hot tub she came in to tell us only 6 people in the hot tub. Let me state there are absolutely no signs that rule exists. The pool rules were listed (no diving, no running, no food, etc) but that was not one of them. The remainder of the time while we were in the pool she kept walking past and literally glaring at us. Instead of working on the towels like she should have been she wanted to make us feel so uncomfortable. Because of Debbie I will never stay at this hotel as long as she’s there.

Like many of you we read reviews before we decided to stay here. Please know, they will not clean your room if you're staying longer than a day. You can request the room be cleaned but it still may not be cleaned. There was pee and nastiness all around the toilet, the tub floor is black. I felt gross just stepping into it. We asked to have housekeeping come in to clean at least around the toilet and they didn't. We asked again, they came in BUT didn't clean any of the pee from around the toilet. I finally did it using their towels and Clorox wipes I bought. I also left messages written in all the dust for others visiting. I honestly don't believe they clean properly or have the highest "Industry standards" in cleaning as they state. Stay at your own risk!

This particular Best Western Plus has much to recommend it - easy access to Highway 30, a short drive to the ISU campus, a clean, bright facility which is clearly well cared for. The beds and pillows are first rate. On our most recent visit, the WIFI was close to useless which was blamed on Mediacom - but we were there for three nights and it never got better. A little more attention is needed in the breakfast area to be sure the hot food is kept hot. And a reading lamp in the room would have been nice to have.

Pets are not allowed in our public areas including the lobby or the pool area but are allowed in the hallways in order to travel directly to and from your room. Pets must be in a cage or on a leash.
