Chabil Mar has taken all the necessary recommendations to make their resort safe and still comfortable. There are numerous hand sanitizing stations, all staff wear masks and housekeeping is done while the guests are out of the villas. We visit Chabil Mar yearly and were not disappointed this year. The village of Placencia has been hit hard by COVID and a nightly curfew, so we decided to eat and drink primarily at the resort. The food, as always, was delicious from Chef Daniel. The staff could not have been more accomodating, especially the bar staff. We had a relaxing and effortless vacation.
I am reluctant to write this review since I don’t want to compete with others booking my slot for me next family vacation to Chabil Mar. This place is absolutely amazing. First and foremost, Chabil Mar is located in Placencia which is about 2 ½ drive from Belize City or 30 minute puddle jumper airplane. Transportation is widely available land or air. Where do I start… 1- This is a small resort where you find or feel that the servicing staff is almost 1 to 1 for every guest. Everyone is extremely friendly and accommodating. Example… We took in some sun too much one day and the staff noticed the same (we didn’t ask). The staff picked a fresh Aloe stalk from their onsite landscaping to rub on the burns. 2- Food is amazing and cooked to order. It’s not out of the ordinary to see the staff picking herbs or fruits grown on the property to go into the meal or your drinks (Can’t get any fresher than that). 3- Property is calm, peaceful and tranquil with no riff raff. 4- Views are spectacular from the property which has a deck right on the water. You can eat any meal on there. 5- I’m a fisherman and ended up fishing off the dock every morning and night. They have 4-5 foot tarpon mixed in with some barracuda hanging around the deck lights at night. Staff will direct you to a place in town where you can pick up a cheap fishing pole and gear (e.g. $30 US). 6- There are various toys that are completely included in your stay which include bikes for strolls into town, Kayaks (single and double) and snorkel gear (which is quite nice view in the blue water). 7- The hotel rents golf carts which is primary mode of transportation in town. If you want a break from the peace of Chabil Mar 8- There are two pools located on site which are infinity overlooking the Caribbean. 9- Short distance into Placencia village which you can either walk, drive, bike, golf cart or just ask the staff and they will take you via shuttle for free. 10- Rooms are very nice and all unique equipped with everything to include stove, oven, microwave, full sized refrigerator, comfortable beds and daily cleaning service. Security – Placencia is very safe with my family taking many midnight strolls on the beach into town. Chabil Mar adds another layer of safety by having a guard walk the beach all day and night. As indicated, I did a lot of fishing from the dock and the security guards were not always visible but were great resources of where the fish are. There is really no comparison with this place as Belize is considerably different than other popular locations such as Mexico. This place can be taken in with your own pace whereas some other “all-inclusive or like” properties treat their guest like huge herds of cattle with buffets, activities and thousands of people on the property. Lets put it this way, I have been going to Chabil Mar religiously over the past 3 years and see the same staff members and often find other repeat guest that vacation with us around the same time. This place will not disappoint.…
The perfect start to our honeymoon! The staff was unbelievably kind from the moment we were picked up in a private shuttle at the Placencia airport. We were given a tour of the property upon arrival and greeted with drinks while our luggage was taken to our room. Our villa had everything you could need for just a few days - full kitchen, spacious wrap-around balcony, two bathrooms, large master suite, washer & dryer, WiFi, and even American cable TV. We loved the semi-all-inclusive aspect too. Most meals were included with our stay, and since there’s no restaurant area, you can eat anywhere on the resort. We had breakfast on our porch every morning with a beautiful view of the beach. The staff arranged everything for us- two tours offsite, a massage on the beach, golf cart and van shuttle access to Placencia village, and all transportation to & from the airport and our next destination. We cannot recommend this relaxing oasis enough!…
Lovely accommodations. Superb location, close to town, but not too close. Wonderful people working there, attentive and fun! Great food and atmosphere. Dining is when and where you want it, your room, balcony, on the pier, on the deck, at the bar, so many options! Truly a wonderful getaway. Especially in this COVID era. The staff took the cleaning and safety of everyone to a high level. Temperature checks daily and disinfection available all around the property. When I suggested something to disinfect the communal bikes, it was done immediately. A side note is that it is family-friendly, which is good for families. However, as a couple traveling, we found it to be not quite as peaceful when multiple families with children arrived. That said, overall we found it to be just what we needed. A safe, comfortable, and truly enjoyable time. Our evenings at the bar were a hoot, DeShawn has contagious laughter, and we enjoyed talking with him, Ferdinand other Chabil staff. Nikita was a gracious host and the other front office and concierge were always on top of things. Chris the manager went out of his way to make sure we were taken care of! Overall everyone working there made the stay more enjoyable.…
Chabil Mar set the bar very high for our Belize vacation. The service, cleanliness, and location were impeccable. Would happily stay there again and recommend any other guests traveling to Belize to do the same.
