Our first night was spent in the main building. Our room had 2 double beds pushed up against concrete walls. As a couple sleeping together, I had to crawl in from the end of the bed and lie up against the wall. My partner lay down on the side of the bed which promptly collapsed landing him on the floor. On complaining to the front desk we were told that they knew the bed was broken and had another one on order. There were empty rooms so it is unclear why they put us in that one. They then told us there were private cabana rooms in the back with king size beds and beautiful bathrooms. Our stay was completely different after that! That room was well appointed and well worth a return visit. There is a nice pool and a great poolside bar. We did not eat dinner in the hotel restaurant.…
Basic lodges, but clean, tidy and staff very welcoming. Dinner average offerings. Breakfast good. Good location to walk into the local town. Safe area. Lots of activities on offer (ruins, caving, tubing, chocolate making, horse riding etc.) Standout… best pins coladas ever.
We three women friends rented the 2 bedroom casita (with living room and kitchen) -- it was quaint and cozy, allowing for Netlix films at night. AC in all rooms. Lovely breakfasts and dinners there. Easy, safe walk into town which was the major draw. Staff were super, friendly and professional and personable. Great pool. Its not 5 * luxury (eg laundry on line behind the hotel) but it has everything you could ask for. Tours and taxis easily available. A great find and we really enjoyed our week with there.
Beautiful grounds, well kept property, Cabins were simple and very clean. Staff is incredibly attentive and responsive. Great location with 5 min San Ignacio downtown and market. Very large pool and fun bar. Fiona’s restaurant (on location) also a highlight of our Belize experience.
The absolute best part of this hotel is the newly opened Fiamma’s restaurant on-site. The owner Fiona and Chef Mo absolutely made our stay. Each night, two dishes were offered for dinner. We tried each, and they were so delicious! Lamb chops, grilled snapper, and Chef Mo even made a special coconut shrimp dish for my picky daughter. I just can not tell you how wonderful Fiona and Chef Mo were. I hope so much that they have success with the restaurant. We only ate here while in San Ignacio, breakfast and dinner each day. We had lunch on our tours. We stayed 2 nights at this hotel, in the main building. I would not do that again. The only way I would stay again would be in one of the casitas in a stand-alone building. We were close to the pool and each night, there was lots of noise, loud music, terrible karaoke, and just generally unpleasant disruptions. The room was tired, worn out, and the mattresses definitely need to be replaced. The front desk staff were very friendly and took care of any requests we had, but the hotel really is in need of a refresh.…
My husband and I spent four nights in one of the cottages at the Midas Belize. We appreciated that the location was fairly quiet, but also close enough that we could walk into town to eat and explore. The air conditioning and fan were very appreciated in July. I appreciate that there was filtered water in the lobby so that we could fill up water bottles.
The place is more tired than it appears online. Cleanliness and upkeep are sloppy, e.g. the previous guests' used soap still in the shower and window screens that don't fit properly. The round huts are very warm, so you can't get away with not using the A/C, which is very loud. The location is good (quiet, on the edge of town but walking distance to restaurants) and the pool is very welcome. The safe in our cabana didn't work, and unfortunately when our penknife went missing, the hotel didn't acknowledge any fault in the fact we couldn't keep our valuables safely locked up.
I stayed here for four nights in March in one of the Cabanas. The location is great- jut outside town, but a short walk to restaurants. My main complaint with the hotel is the lack of communication. Prior to my arrival, I contacted the hotel to ask about transportation options from BZE via Hotels.com where I'd made my booking- no answer. I found their email address on FB (it's not on their website?!), and contacted them that way- again, no answer. I finally messaged them on FB (not my preferred method of communication) and received an answer. Once I was on property, on day 1, I asked for a lightbulb for the lamp on the bedside table, and it never happened. Also, I stopped in to ask about a couple of tours, and the front desk person said they'd contact a company and let me know, but nobody ever got back to me. Lastly, it was never clear when the restaurant would be open for breakfast, or when the pool bar would be open, but it wasn't a big problem for me because there are other places nearby. When you visit San Ignacio, you're probably not going to be spending a lot of time in your hotel, and this place is very comfortable for the time you will be there.…
I booked this hotel thinking it would be an easy base for a couple day long tours out of San Ignacio. I was pleasantly surprised by the cute little bungalows and the room itself. However, the real highlight of our stay was Andrea. She greeted us on day one with such a genuine smile which was much appreciated after a long travel day. Over the next few days, I saw her interacting with so many different people and you can tell she truly loves what she does. Andrea helped our friend out by finding him aloe for a sunburn when we arrived and all the shops were closed. She went above and beyond to help us fix a miscommunication with our scheduled taxi and even called around to try and find us a better rate. Thank you for the amazing hospitality, Andrea!
We stayed for three nights and in general were disappointed. I wrote to the hotel several times before arrival with questions about the restaurant and meals. They never replied. When we got there they told us that there were not enough guests so they wouldn't be serving breakfast or any other meals. They also announced that the pool was closed because of some mix-up with chemicals. The room was fairly comfortable although I am not certain it was the upgraded room I had booked. The room did not even have a drinking glass. I guess the only positive was the location, which was only a 5-10 minute walk to the center of town, which made it convenient for exploring.
