Staff was very nice and helpful. Food was amazing. The resort grounds are absolutely beautiful. We were able to feed the lemurs a couple times at dinner. We had a family of 5 and stayed in the garden house it was perfect for us. The resort along with Belize in general is very laid back everyone was so nice.
This is a great place to experience the jungle with great access to Mayan ruins both in Belize and Guatemala. William and his staff provide amazing service (thank you Rita) delicious food (thank you Milkie) and strong drinks (Enrique)! Splurge for a treehouse if you can, float down the river or relax by the beautiful pool.
Sweet Songs is the best jungle lodge experience you can find in Belize. My wife and I stayed there for four nights and never wanted to leave. The room itself has everything you need. Complimentary filtered water that is refilled everyday, comfortable bed with extra blankets, great A/C, a beautiful patio with a hammock and the most amazing stone open shower with two shower heads and a window to the jungle. It was also cleaned and serviced everyday while we were out exploring. The treehouse restaurant was perfect. Food was outstanding for breakfast, lunch and dinner with a changing dinner menu everyday. Lemurs, toucans, motmots, and other Belizean animals would come and say hello everyday. It was one of our favorite parts. The pool is even better than it looks in the pictures. Infinity pool with beautiful stone and stairs that was open all day. They had a pool bar that was open till 6 with happy hour from 4-6 and the drinks were always delicious and worth it. The resort also had complimentary canoes to take out on the river that was breathtaking or tubes to float down the river. They also offered tours to all of the sites and Mayan ruins in San Ignacio. We did the horseback tour to Xunantunich and it was a surreal experience. The last two things I want to mention are the sheer beauty of the resort/jungle and the staff service. They made the experience better than it could’ve ever been and upon leaving it felt like we were saying goodbye to our best friends. We miss it already and will definitely come back. Do yourself a favor and stay here, you won’t regret it! P.S. there is an all inclusive option and tours available - ask about it when you book!…
So many good things to say about this resort! Location: beautiful, remote, quiet, boutique This is a small resort. You’ll see the same people and staff daily! It wasn’t uncommon we were the only ones eating or at the pool. If you like quiet and listening to birdsong with relaxation, this is for YOU! You will encounter beautiful Aracari toucans and kinkajous at dinner you can feed - just wow! We stayed for 4 nights, with all the excursions we did I would’ve loved to stay one more! Staff: so many good things to say about the individuals who work here. Derby, Enrique, Rognar were wonderful. Always friendly, teaching us about bird calls they heard (helping us spot Belize’s national bird), or wildlife and plants we encountered. They were always attentive, remembering who we are and asking us what we were up to that day! Tour guides: Fernando with ATM cave tour (a MUST do), and Jorge with Caracol (another great trip, don’t drive yourself … those roads!) were wonderful as well. Rooms: Our group stayed all over the resort. The double queen casitas (nothing special - these are great for full days where you’ll be out and just for sleeping), the premiere treehouse (#15 WOW! Worth the money. Do it for at least a night. Gorgeous. Bath on the balcony was literal Heaven), and normal treehouse (#12, no bathtub but awesome hammock and the nicest “inside”). AC worked well in all rooms Food: one restaurant, YUM. Took the complication out of planning where to eat. Breakfast and lunch are set menus with lots of variety. Dinner is a rotating menu for a farm to table experience. Food was delicious, great variety, and fresh! Each dinner menu had two starter choices, main dishes (chicken-based, pork or beef, a fish and veggie) and set dessert. We did the all-inclusive package, our group was non-drinkers and we still felt it was a good value overall. Fresh juices were delicious. I will be dreaming of the sorrel Moscow mule (virgin) for months Wifi: advertised as at the restaurant only, we were delighted to observe that we had pretty fair wifi at most of the resort Bugs: note that we came during dry season, they were NOT bad. Better than Michigan! I had probably 5 bites from our 4 nights there with zero bug spray on Suggestions: PACK FOR A PURPOSE!! Look it up. Save some room in your luggage and donate to Belizean kids, easily done at the front desk. We loved getting to know the staff, thankfully we ended up learning their names but name tags might be helpful in the future so we can give them the recognition they deserved! Adding a hot tub to the resort would be so fantastic as well as some sort of fitness area (sounds like something is in the works for this) Suggest easy identification of all-inclusive guests Vs not. I felt bad repeating I was all-inclusive every meal (just for those of us who don’t like burdening anybody!)…
We absolutely loved our time at Sweet Sounds. The staff were incredible, the setting was gorgeous (like exactly what you imagine a Jungle Lodge in Belize should look like) and our time there was just awesome. As another reviewer noted, it was rustic. We lost power for about 1 minute every evening. Honestly, it added to the charm for our family. We felt like we were in the jungle, but in our cute, very clean, little private cottage. The trips they organized were exactly as described, our guides were knowledgeable and kind. We learned so much about Mayan history and culture and had a blast doing so. The food at Sweet Sounds was great, and I also really appreciated how they prepared us for our trips offsite, including packing lunches that we pre-ordered for our daylong visit to nearby ruins. Our favorite parts... Evenings by the pool when all of the hotel guests returned and everyone chatted about their day and their trips and shared tips and insights. It was like being in a little community, it was amazing. The kinkajous at dinner! The staff. The setting.. It was a great experience and we would definitely return!…
I wish I could give 3.5 stars. Highlights: the wildlife interactions at meals were memorable! Gorgeous birds come mornings for breakfast entertainment and Kinkajous in the evenings at dinner. The waitstaff was very friendly and worked hard to serve well. The food was good, and the Belizean BBQ night was the highlight. Very tasty and it offered a wonderful variety. Drinks were also good. For farm to table, I recommend they offer salad more often. Menu changes daily but most lunches and dinners didn’t have a salad on the menu. The place is tired and the photographer skills far exceed the level of details that go into the property care. They could use better walkways, signage, towels and service at pool, attendant for river beach (help with canoes), etc. Lowlights: though the workers aimed to please, they were pretty understaffed. Often one reception person had several people waiting for help. They had to check in/our guests, play concierge and address room issues of guests. Lighting is VERY poor in the room and on the property at night, making it hard to see. After dark we could basically do nothing in our room by lie in bed. No comfy chairs or couch to sit on and the porch would be sitting in pitch black. The real lowlight was the bathroom. I would liken to a prison bathroom. No shelving whatsoever in the shower. Very dimly lit, hard to see. Poor water pressure and leaking very old nozzle. Did not drain and men had to come to get water to properly drain. Toilet stopped flushing. Grimy, Very rustic, old subpar bathroom! Botanical garden was not included and was underwhelming. Owner now separate from Sweet songs. Tip: we stayed in a deluxe bungalow. Avoid unless you do not mind very outdated bathroom and room! Newer tree houses were built since 2020 and those rooms should have better facilities. We stayed at Chaa Creek before checking in here and would definitely recommend there over Sweet Songs. They are adjacent properties.…
Our short stay at Sweet Songs was absolutely amazing and truly set the bar high for our honeymoon trip! We were picked up at the BZE airport by a gentleman holding up a ‘sweet songs’ sign. He informed us it would be about 2.5 hour drive which was unexpected and I wasn’t looking forward to it. However, our driver was SO nice and personable- telling us stories about Belize and his life in this beautiful country and before we knew it we had arrived at the Lodge! Starting with check-in we felt so welcomed! While they took our bags to our room we got a tour of the gorgeous grounds and enjoyed a welcome drink poolside. We stayed in Treehouse #12 which was private but conveniently located next to the reception desk and the pool (and pool bar). They decorated our bed with fresh, vibrant flowers for our honeymoon which was such a sweet thing to do. Our treehouse was spacious and clean. The food and drinks were delicious and beautiful. I’m allergic to gluten and they always accommodated if the original dish wasn’t inherently gluten free. The best part of our meals were the local wildlife visitors. We added this stay onto the start of our honeymoon so we really only had 1 full day to enjoy an excursion. We chose to horseback ride through the jungle to Xunantunich and it was incredible! A MUST do if you can. It is a 2 1/2hr one way ride, but it’s cool under the shade of the jungle canopy. Armenio was the best guide and stopped to show us the different uses for the plants we were passing. Carlos toured us around the ruins and his passion for telling the Mayan history was contagious! Then, he drove us back in a vehicle and we stopped at a restaurant to have an authentic Belizean meal- fabulous! The grounds are stunning and well maintained. The workers are so welcoming and nice. They even arranged for Stephen to drive us to Dangriga so we could catch the boat for the second leg of our trip and again, the 2.5 hours flew by as we drove through the mainland and chatted with him about his culture. We cannot wait to come back when we have an extra day or two to explore and enjoy all that Sweet Songs has to offer. The only people I wouldn’t suggest this location to would be those with trouble with steps/stairs.…
The BEST place to stay in the jungle. Amazing service, the rooms are pristine, clean, and with perfect views. No bugs! The hotel property features canoes for your enjoyment on the beach, a beautiful pool overlooking the jungle and river, a beautiful restaurant with great food, and various places to sit and admire the natural beauty of the jungle. Very reasonable pricing. Great poolside happy hour. Staff are exceptionally helpful and kind. Will 100% be back here.
The resort is in a lush landscape with singing birds and tall trees. The Nature Horseback ride with an expert guide was a wonderful experience. The food at the Treehouse Bar is excellent. The staff are friendly and eager to please. We also enjoyed relaxing river tubing on the property.
If you want peace, tranquility, and an escape from the city life, this is your place. It is a small farm to table eco lodge. Not overly costly. 17 rooms. I loved it. Sweet songs is everything Belize. Birds and howler monkeys. A lazy river and an easy opportunity to explore Xunantichan as well as the popular ATM Caves tour, definitely a must if you're in the area. The rooms are unique and immaculate. The food is superior. A family group of 7 thought we'd be dining in San Ignacio, but we ate here every night. Thank you. My only suggestion is to offer a food only option, rather than the food and drink option. We went a la carte and the value was excellent.
