Just returned from awesome 12 day stay at Sophie's with my daughter. Having walked, paddled and biked the entire island this is definitely the best location-private beach close to the split and town yet far enough away to avoid the noise. Shout out to Ashley for the immaculate housekeeping-everything was spotless and to Mita for keeping everything running smoothly. Only slight negative was having to walk down steps to the bathrooms but that is true of every accommodation in this price range. Tip: rent paddle boards from MOJO around the corner.
This hotel is basic, but super affordable and I personally think in the best spot on Caye Caulker, right on a beach! We arrived early, before 10am and the hotel manager turned our room around really quickly so we could move in straight away. She also cleaned and made our beds everyday which was just lovely. Thanks for a great stay!
Very basic, but very clean. Located on the best little beach area on Caye Caulker. By the time I got here, I was used to the idea of the toilet and shower not being located in the room, but out back down a flight of stairs. Not HA. Great stay for a reasonable price. Mita, the manager, was very kind and helpful.
We stayed for 5 nights and could have easily extended our stay. Mita was absolutely lovely and she was fantastic with providing tips on where to eat and tours etc. The guest house is right on the beach front with a lovely beach for swimming right on the doorstep. The hammocks on the balcony were a welcome relief after a day in the sun and provided excellent views over the water. It is a short walk from two of our favorite daytime bars; the "lazy lizard" and "sip n dip". It was nice being 3 mins walk from the louder area of town allowing for a quiet and restful sleep. Recommend 100% Thanks so much for the stay Julia & Jasmine
Sophie's guest rooms is the perfect place to stay on Caye Caulker island. It has a great location, situated right on the beach close to the split and only a few minutes walk to the main street. The staff are the nicest people you could ever wish to meet. The place is well maintained and the rooms are kept squeaky clean. I couldn't recommend this wonderful place anymore!! Excellent value for money.
Booked here 4 nights. Changed my dates via email 2 month in advance (They approved). Upon arrival credit card payment didn’t work, got asked to move to a regular room for one night, even though I booked the deluxe (no biggie), but the thing is that they tried to over charge me. (Even though moving me to a cheaper room). First they said it is a fine for the change I made, then that they accidentally added a night, but they changed their mind after half an hour. then they said that the money from hostel world didn’t go to them. 2 hours and half of arguing. They just played dumb, to get more money. Very unpleasant. (Two mornings in a row I had to deal with it). They didn’t apologize, wifi was very slow, AC in the deluxe room didn’t work and the lack of private bathroom makes the…
We were initially supposed to stay there for 2 nights, and once we got to Caye Caulker, walk around and see/visit other places to stay to see if we could "get a better deal". After walking around the island, and visiting places, we came to the conclusion that Sophie's really was the best bang for your buck! (we ended up booking two more nights) Modest, but very clean and big rooms. Toilets/showers are outside (not the best for nighttime needs), but the rooms do include a sink and a mirror to get ready. Great location, right by the split, where you can catch amazing sunsets right from the property. The staff was SOOO nice and very helpful, which made our time there even better. The only downside we found was the outside dinning area wasn't really set up, and there was no…
The rooms are located on the west side of the island close to the split, so the sunsets are spectacular; it is a short walk to the split, and the atmosphere is more quiet and relaxing. The rooms were kept very clean and the staff was extremely welcoming and friendly. The shared bathrooms were immaculate, and maintained throughout the day. I enjoyed using the small barbecue to cook dinner a few nights. It was amazing to be able to swim 20 feet from my room. I would definitely recommend.
Very clean and comfortable rooms a few steps from the ocean. The staff is very friendly and do a great job keeping the bathrooms and rooms clean. Spotless! Free coffee in the morning is a very nice touch. Sunset views are amazing. Priceless hidden gem.
Sophie's is a real find if you're looking for backpacker accommodation on Caye Caulker. The rooms are basic but spotless as are the shared bathrooms which we never had to wait for and we brilliantly clean. The little beach is the best spot of sand on the island. More importantly the staff are amazing, going out of their way to send my husband's forgotten clothes by airmail so we could pick them up at another hotel before we left Belize.Above and beyond service here
