Detailed Reviews
Drifted coconut is really close to the main street. Dorms are cheap and quite ok, except the bathroom that are not very clean...
Free breakfast, but don't go too early, they won't serve it before 9h.
If you're on a budget, it's yours. But if you're looking for something more comfortable, try another place.

Cheap hostel with basic interior, the only hostel in this price class that serves breakfast. It's not big but okay for the price. Also, at nights there is rum punch which was nice and is also included in the price as well as coffee and filtered water.
The rooms are basic and a bit cold regarding the interior design but you will spend most of the time outside discovering the island anyways.
We extended our stay because we liked it and it's cheap. The only thing that was a bit strange are the toilets (no privacy) but upstairs there is also a toilet, so just use that one if you need some private time 😂
The owner also gave us a tip how to exchange money as we still had many Belizean dollars. Thank you for that we didn't loose anything!

A simple but good hostel. Fantastic location, only 5 mins walk to Lazy Lizard Spit. Beds are comfortable and spacious. You must stay in an AC dorm as it gets very hot. Dorms have no windows so it’s very dark, but Belize is so beautiful that you won’t spend much time indoors anyways. The bathrooms were pretty bad with no hot water or soap and paint peeling off the walls. WIFI pretty good. Breakfast that is included is very simple with no tea or coffee, but it’s something. Staff aren’t overall friendly but do the job.

We stayed one night at the Drifted Coconut in a private double room. Check in was horrible, you could only pay with cash and we had to book the room for 2 days instead of 1 due to a booking.com error. The guys at the Drifted Coconut couldn't and didn't want to fix this.
The room was stripped to the bare minimum with bad quality beds and a disgusting bathroom. The hostel is some sort of partyhostel, so there was noice untill 4 o' clock, the thin walls don't block any sound. Breakfast was supposed to be serverd at 7:30, which should be convenient because we planned a boattrip at 8:30. When we arrived at 7:30 breakfast wasn't close to get started and we had to get food elsewhere.
Overall it wasn't a pleasant experience staying in the Drifted Coconut. It's more a party hostel than a hotel/ hostel. If you dont't plan to party, don't stay at this place.

Wow, I am so glad to find this place. Private room for 2 for $35 USD (after taxes) with breakfast and free rum punch from 7:30 to 9:00pm. I just had a BBQ here where I got 2 decent sized lobster tails, veggies and rice for $8 USD (not all the time). It is under new management (starting last month) and there is construction (Dec 2017), but as far as I can tell this place is one of the best values on Caye Caulker (we checked out a few budget options that were sub-par before finding this gem). If your looking for basic accomodations with some perks this is your spot.

If you want to get screwed over this is a great place!! New management/slumlords are crooked and will take advantage of you any way they can. Take it from me the creator of Drifted Coconut. There’s much better options than this to stay on Caye Caulker.

Cool exterior, scary rooms. Booked a private double bed w/ AC and was put in an empty 3 bdr with fans. There was blood on the sheets and the bathroom seemed unfinished. I hope everyone has their tetanus shot. When I asked to be relocated to the only available room with AC for an up-charge I immediately cancelled my reservation because of the terrible odor. It smelled like someone peed on the floor. The owner said the tenants before had rabbits before...
I wasn’t issued any refunds even though I was put in a different room than I booked. Lost $80 for a two night reservation. Bitter about my loss but more upset with the people who rated this great place to stay. If you don’t mind weird smells or random goo’s though, you should be fine.

I’m very sorry you didn’t like the room you booked. But you did not book the a/c private. There is no a/c double room. The room you booked was the room you got. I told you that the only a/c room we had was closed because of the people in the room before had rabbits they won at the fair. I even told you it needs to be aired out. I’m sorry there’s no refund. Your friend that recommended you loved the place.

The location of the hostel is close to the water ferry (about 500 meters) just next to the see (but not even small beach available), shops and tour agencies close, also cheap restaurant next to the hostel. I stayed in a 16 bed spacious dorm room without windows with A/C, 2 toilets and 2 showrooms which are not well built as during the night every time the lights are on you can see it and can get woken up. Mattresses comfy, rooms and toilets cleaned every day.
The vibe of the hostel is great. In the morning you can meet fellow travelers over the free breakfast (eggs, pancakes, fruit) or in the evening from 19:30 over the rum punch and billiards game. Free coffee and water available, they also served well priced dinners. They offer free kayaks and I used them to go around the coast but be advised that the currents are strong, a bit difficult if you go solo as me.

Horrible dorm rooms: totally basic and dark with no windows, stuffed with 16 beds, lockers under the bed doesn’t really work, bathrooms in the dorms are open on top-so you will hear everything, ”lights” in the toilet will wake up everyone. Owner unfriendly with no control: People were looking for free beds at night because their beds suddenly were taken. Only positive thing: breakfast is included in the price.

I’m sorry that your stay at Drifted Coconut was not pleasant. We assign people certain beds, but what goes on in the dorms after hours sometimes gets a little confusing ( especially when guests come back drunk& forget their beds) We live on premises and tell everyone that during check in just Incase you have any sort of problem, we are always here. I can’t apologize enough for the rude behavior of my husband but again we have no control over what happens late at night inside the dorms. You knew it was a 16 person dorm and we also gave the guy that got assigned the wrong bed a free night.... if you’d like to ever come back I promise you your stay will be better. Our sincerest apologies Nicole

I stayed here for 3 nights with my 2 girlfriends and we had SUCH a great time! We met so many cool people staying in the room with us. We also made a lot of friends in the evening when they offered free rum punch in the rec room. It was honestly such a blast! So many good people staying there and working there, it can't be beat!!
