Detailed Reviews
Lovely hotel, about a 30 minute walk to downtown along the beach with many restaurants within a 15 minute walk north and south. We rented a golf cart just one day to go to Secret Beach and pick up some extra groceries. The kitchen is full service so we made our own breakfast and coffee each morning. If you don't mind walking along the beach there's a lot of restaurants, snorkeling/diving outfits, and hobie cat rentals nearby. The hotel is far enough away to be quiet but close enough that it's all easy to get to. We walked as far as Caliente for dinner (lagoon side) and then cabbed back to the hotel, walking at night on the roads of San Pedro can be nervewracking! For the most part we walked along the beach which is well lit at night and dark enough by the ocean that you can see the stars. Cabs are about $10USD, so cabbing downtown and back is about half the cost of a golf cart rental.
the hotel is still fairly new so not many ammenities (no flippers or paddle boards to rent) and the bar is in the interior, so no ocean view, but you can carry you drink to the beach chairs and there are a few grocery stores nearby to pick up your own food and drink. Also some good street vendors. The price for an ocean-view room can't be beat. We booked our golf cart and excursion through the hotel and billed them to the room. Staff very helpful and friendly. Would stay here again.

I originally was trying to book at Alaia, but it was full so my friend recommended that we stay at Bananas on the Beach. I’m soooo glad we did. Tiffany, Jewel, Claudia, and Leah made the stay extremely comfortable and memorable. I felt like I was staying with friends and family. Typically San Pedro struggles with retaining Belizean culture in the hopes of accommodating Americans and Europeans. Not here. These ladies bring their beautiful respective cultures with them and it’s infused with a World Class service. If you are the type of person that is barely in your room when you travel, but still want some place cute to lay your head at the end of the day with the essential amenities then this is the place. I can’t wait to visit again when the restaurant is open.

We had an overall pretty good experience - we stayed for 4 nights. The hotel has been recently renovated, and is quite clean and nice. A couple of things to keep in mind - as of June 2024, the hotel does not have a working restaurant or spa onsite as was advertised, so keep this in mind when considering amenities/value for price and perhaps call and ask if they are open. The hotel is pretty far from the main part of San Pedro, meaning a 20-30 minute walk or 10 minute (and USD $10) taxi ride each way along a very busy street. There are not many food/restaurant options near the hotel unfortunately, so be prepared to travel at least to a neighboring hotel. The room was comfortable and well-sized, air-conditioning and hot water worked well, and the beds were super soft. The outdoor areas like the private beach, balconies, and pools, were virtually unusable because of the extremely strong sulfur smell due to construction at neighboring properties. Overall though we had a good experience and would recommend for a decently-priced place to stay on the island!
