At Victoria House Resort & Spa, the order of the day is quite simply relaxation… Located on Ambergris Caye, the largest of the many offshore Belizean Islands, Victoria House is just 2 miles south of picturesque San Pedro Town. The resort offers a taste of barefoot elegance that keeps guests coming back for more. With just 42 guest rooms ranging in style from thatch roof casitas to beachfront villas with private pools, rooms and suites the only challenge is making the choice of where to hang your swimsuit at night. The Palmilla Restaurant and Admiral Nelsons Bar are renowned for fine food and drink complimented by extraordinary, personalized service. Attention to detail by staff and management alike has garnered accolades from international media and awards from prestigious organizations such as Conde Nast Traveler, Conde Nast Johansens, etc. Even more telling is the number of guests who chose to make Victoria House their destination of choice, year after year.

Detailed Reviews
We had an excellent stay here, We traveled with our family of 4 and stayed in a 2 bedroom villa with full kitchen. The accommodations were very comfortable with comfy beds, well appointed bathrooms and great air conditioning. The location on property was great with the infinity pool just outside the door.
The food on property was great. We ate most of our meals here, including breakfast lunch and dinner. They included a continental breakfast but we ordered off the menu since breakfast huevos rancheros was delicious.
The highlight of this property is the service-From the front desk, to wait staff in the bar and restaurant, service at the pool, and housekeeping. It was nice to see the same people every day. They were willing to accommodate any request.
The Victoria House is a small property with all the amenities but never seemed crowded or busy. We never had trouble getting a chair or seats at the pool or restaurants.
The spa was small but nice. I had a body wrap that included an outside rain shower. Wonderful. Other family members had a massage in the hut over the ocean.
We had a fishing excursion and a day trip to snorkel and see the manatees. Both were very fun, After fishing, our guide cleaned our fish which we took to the kitchen, They prepared our fresh snapper for our lunch, cooked to our request. It was amazing. These trips were arranged by the onsite tour guide.
Overall the Victoria House offered everything we wanted for a great vacation, the location was easy to get to as well. We hope to return next year!

Spent 5 days there in January. Wonderful staff. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Room with kitchen, balcony, sitting area excellent. The hotel grounds are impeccably maintained as are the pools. The quality of the restaurant and food is really good.
The private beach is kept clean but one cannot swim directly from it due to seaweed so there is a marked area at the end of their pier.
Sadly Ambergris Caye is however not attractive and is packed with golf buggies racing up and down. I could not recommend a trip to see it BUT the hotel is so good that retreating and staying on the premises for most of our time there was NOT a punishment!. If you are interested in diving and snorkelling then the reef is a short boat trip away.

Thanks for touching TripAdvisor regarding your recent stay at Victoria House. We are delighted to hear you enjoyed your time with us, so thank you for your 5-star rating. San Pedro can certainly be quite congested with foot and golf cart traffic, especially at certain times of day - but that's often what people find charming about it. The nice thing about Victoria House is that it's located a bit off the beaten path and allows some contrast to the hustle and bustle of the town center. We hope your future travels are most enjoyable!

This property has charm, elegance and a true passion for making their guest feel like royalty. The staff and management where there for us every time we needed something. The property grounds felt like you are in a palace, not a leaf out of place and with all their iguana friends it was truly paradise!
We wish to thank each and every one at Victoria House for a great relaxing stay ... we will be back!

The staff at Victoria House were friendly and courteous. If you stay here, ask a lot of questions about the room before booking a room that fits you. There are many inconsistencies between the rooms. We stayed in Casita 3. It was a tiny room with a small bath area. No TV. No phone to call the front desk or room service. No coffee/tea bar in the room. The bed was hard and lumpy. The AC unit was set up to blow directly on the bed (we froze when it was on; we sweated when we turned it off). The ground crew mustered around 6:00 am each morning behind our room to start their day (so no sleeping past 6:00 am due to the noise they created). There is no natural beach (it is a hard pack sandy area behind a bulkhead). The water is not suitable for swimming in front of the bulkhead. The Dive shop did a good job with our excursions (fishing, snorkeling, etc) and the Golf Cart rental was good. The food was average and service is friendly but slow in both the restaurant and bar. Avoid eating their beef (had a spoiled burger in the bar one day). The seafood is good and the safest bet for fresh food. The bar drinks were tasty but lacked much alcohol. If you like beer choices, they only had two brands (the local Belikin beer and Land Shark). We did not test the wine menu. We recommend you eat most your meals in San Pedro where the food and choices are much better. Overall a clean and well maintained resort but definitely not in the luxury category.

Dear Czechmate-57 Thanks for choosing to stay with us at Victoria House Resort & Spa, and for taking the time to share your disappointments. Our goal at Victoria House is to meet and exceed our guests’ expectations, and I’m sorry we did not do so in your case. Since it’s said that brevity is the soul of wit, I’d like to keep my response short and simple but feel you deserve a more detailed response. We have a wide variety of guest rooms, not being a property of the cookie-cutter variety. We’ve grown rather organically over the last 38 years from a relatively simple but upscale fishing camp to a 42-room resort that some guests do feel is quite luxurious. As a result, our room types range from standard staterooms, plantation rooms and suites, casitas, studio suites, one and two-bedroom “luxury” two-story infinity suites, two, three, and five-bedroom villas, half of them on the ocean-front and the remainder situated around a 70’ infinity pool. Our team of professional reservationists are very familiar with this property and would be more than happy to provide prospective guests with the details of our different room types. It’s unfortunate you didn’t get the specifics on your accommodations when you booked as some guests find the traditionally thatched Casitas cozy and charming. We have no telephones in our rooms, nor do the majority have televisions. We’ve found that many of our guests are quite pleased with this situation, since being somewhat disconnected from the world allows them to relax and enjoy themselves. I appreciate you weighing in on this as we welcome constructive criticism and input on services and amenities. That said, most guests travel with smartphones and other devices these days and, since our complimentary WIFI is quite good, unless one makes a real effort, the news (bad or good) is just a finger print away! We do have coffee and tea in our villas. The bed referred to is a Beautyrest Millennium pillow top unit and was installed when we re-opened last October after renovations. Knowing how important a good night’s sleep is, our rooms are equipped with top quality beds and bedding. It’s unfortunate that you weren’t comfortable either with or without the AC unit. There are adjustments that can be made in the airflow direction, fan speed etc. and any of our maintenance staff would have been happy to assist you. 6 AM is the hour we prepare for the day. Front Desk, Kitchen, Dining Room and Grounds Keepers are here and ready for another day. I’ll certainly share your valid concern with our team, stressing that our guests value their peace and serenity. Over the years we, along with many other properties on the coast, have been obliged to erect sea walls to deal with ever-increasing erosion issues. To erect or not erect was a hard decision to make, but we elected to claim back 70’ of beach that had been eroded over the course of the years. Our proximity to the reef (a mere 800 yds) means that most of the beach areas on Ambergris Caye aren’t the type of walk-in, hard, sandy beaches that bring Cancun and the West Indies to mind. The beach does get a lot of use by sunbathers, beach-game enthusiasts and, later in the day, romantic dinner set-ups. We take a lot of pride in our food being anything but average, and based on the comments of our guests, it’s somewhat justified. We also place a very high value our guests’ comfort and health, and therefore take great care to ensure that all of our consumable products are of the best quality available. I’ve reviewed our sales for the day you ordered 2 hamburgers, see that a number of other burgers were sold that day, none were voided or comped, and have no record of any other issues or complaints concerning hamburgers served that day, previous or subsequent days. I do notice that you didn’t have lunch with us on that particular day. Our standard serving size for mixed drinks is 1.5 oz unless the recipe specifies otherwise, which is pretty much an industry standard. As much as Belikin Beer is “The Beer of Belize”, we carry a couple of other brands of brew besides the Belikin Light, Belikin Regular, Belikin Stout, Belikin Landshark and Belikin Light House, namely Heineken, Red Stripe and two relatively new offerings, Wildcat IPA and Hummingbird Pale Ale, both brewed in southern Belize. Our laws are quite specific about where we can import foreign beer from, so it’s refreshing to see some new players in the game. I’m happy that you found eateries in San Pedro more in tune with your preferences and hope your next vacation is more to your liking. Brent Kirkman

Upon our arrival at Victoria House, we were upgraded to the bridal suite directly on the beach. The room was not booked during the dates of our stay and the hotel prefers to keep the room occupied due to its ideal location on the beach. The room was spectacular, but any stay at this fabulous resort will exceed your expectations. The service is extraordinary...staff is always available, pleasant and excited about meeting your every need. The tropical drinks are fresh and delicious. The property has two pools, waterside dining, spa services and readily makes arrangements for all types of tourist adventures. We were very impressed and would definitely go back!

I really wanted to love this hotel, but unfortunately I could not. They are not accommodating at all. I went on a full day excursion and was unable to make dinner reservations earlier in the day. I attempted to have dinner later that afternoon upon returning back to the hotel late in the afternoon; but was told there was no availability at the restaurant or the bar because I did not have a reservation. Mind you there where several seats and tables open. I then proceeded to ask the staff if we could be seated at a table that was located by the pool…and the response I received was “it’s dark over there” (no option was given to add a candle to the table for lighting, which appeared to be on all the tables that were outside). Then, I asked if I could wait for a table to become available and I was told “other ppl have reservations that have not showed up yet and we have to wait at least 20 mins”…..again at this time, I was not given the option to wait; to make a later reservation, or offered a table by the pool where they could have added a candle for lighting). After speaking to the front desk and the waiting staff; I was told to just order room service and the service fee would be waived….well once the food arrived, guess what…a service fee was definitely applied. On to the next day, dinner time approaches…and what do we see, more tables by the pool with lights hung all around for additional lighting. All I have to say, is I would not recommend this hotel; as they only appear to be accommodating if you have the right skin tone!!!!
And there are no phones in the room…you can only communicate with the front desk (for request) using WhatsApp. You have to call for ice, call for turn down service….

Hi Curious20359291452 We really want all of our guests to love our resort too, and I’m disappointed to hear that you didn’t. I can relate to your frustration at not being able to be seated right away for dinner, especially after having returned from a long and presumably enjoyable trip to the mainland. We request that our registered guests make dinner reservations to ensure that they’re able to dine at the desired time and to avoid disappointment. We were fully booked during your stay, and as happens at times, most of our in-house guests had reserved tables on the night in question. We also welcome non-registered guests for dinner and by law (pandemic health & safety-related) these guests must all have reservations, so despite appearances, we were fully booked until much later in the evening. As is customary, we do hold reserved tables for 20 minutes before making them available, The tables that are set on the restaurant deck do have candles, more for decoration than for illumination as there is electrical lighting on the deck. I apologize for options other than in room dining being offered to you and for the apparent miscommunication about the delivery fee. Our AGM, with whom you spoke, has no recollection of discussing this subject with you, but certainly would have waived the $2.50 delivery fee. We do not have telephones in our rooms, but do offer round-the-clock communication via WhatsApp or Vamoos, a handy little app that we encourage all our guests to make use of, not only for communication, but to view menus and upcoming events. Your comment about the level of service offered being dependent on the colour of one’s skin needs to be addressed. It is not only baseless, but blatantly disrespectful of the multiculturally diverse team at Victoria House Resort & Spa. I hope your next vacation doesn’t disappoint in any way. Brent

You really can't get any better than Victoria House Resort. We were there early December, 2020 and the resort was practically empty due to Covid. They were extremely safe with everyone wearing masks and temperatures taken when you went off property, plus hand sanitizer everywhere. The resort was very well maintained and staff was very accommodating. Since there were few guests there, we were given an upgrade to a suite which sat right on the beach and it was FABULOUS. We did take two or three excursions which were arranged by the hotel. I think we probably overpaid for them, but since so many places are not operating in Belize, we felt like it was safer to have the hotel make arrangements. On one snorkeling trip, we were the only two in the water (Mexico Rocks)! We did an excursion to the Mayan ruins Lamanai with 8 people and a guide and we were the only ones there. Normally, this site has approximately 500 people visiting.

Very nice property and conveniently located South of the airport just far enough away to avoid the busier city center (airport). We booked our excursions through the hotel with no issues. Excellent communication throughout our stay confirming pickup times for fishing, scuba and snorkel. Located 5 minutes from main dive shop (one got certified) and 10 minutes from Hol Chan. There are several very good restaurants within walking distance. We rented a cart for 1 day also through the hotel. While slightly more expensive than you may be able to get locally booking direct, the convenience / cost benefit factor is reasonable. The restaurant on site is also excellent and has same offerings as the other restaurants in the area with competitive prices.
We did have a slight issue with our stay on the last day (A/C went down); however, the staff was on it right away. When the AC unit stopped working altogether, they put us in another available room without delay.

A small, luxury resort that focuses on incredible service. We stayed in Casita 1 and it had amazing views of the beach. There were abundant, helpful staff members who tried to anticipate our every need without being intrusive. Every meal we ate there was delicious and a labor of love. There were many times when we were the only people on the beach, and it felt like our own private resort. Even when fully booked, which it was, it never feels noisy or crowded. The spa was also tranquil and beautiful with professional, excellent staff. Highly recommended!

We stayed 7 nights at the Victoria House including the Christmas holidays. The location was beautiful with vast white sand beaches, soaring palm trees, infinity pool, and a dock for activities. We enjoyed dining outside and hanging out at the separate bar for happy hour. Every staff member was courteous and took care of our every need. We took advantage of the free beach bikes and golf cart rental. The hotel concierge booked our flight from BZE to SPR and a all day tour to Lamanai Mayan Ruins where we were able to climb all over the ancient towers!
